Principal’s Points of Pride Dear MHES Families, We would like to welcome you to the 2020-21 school year. We are one week in to the new year and already are so very proud of our learners, staff, and families. Our learners have adapted well to our new reopening processes to help keep everyone safe. Our MYPCS students are navigating through CANVAS and learning alongside their classmates and teachers. Finally, our staff has created plans, communicated with families, supported learners, and prepared classroom environments that strongly support academic achievement and social and emotional learning and growth. We are incredibly pleased with how everyone is adapting to the new challenges we face every day. Here are just a few of the expectations we want to be sure are clear for all: * Attendance is critical to student success whether it is in the traditional setting or online. Parents should contact the office for any student who is absent and write a note in the planner as well. The wellness screener should be followed daily to ensure that your child is feeling well. * All students, parents, and visitors on campus are required to wear a face covering. * All information in FOCUS must be accurate for parents to receive both email and phone messages including emergency call outs, weekly updates, and various school and district communications. Please log into FOCUS and update parent contact info including phone numbers and email to ensure you receive information. If you need assistance or your password reset, please contact the office at 588-3569. While the setting has changed, parent involvement events will continue! Our first virtual PTA meeting of the year will be held on Zoom on Tuesday, September 8th. Save the date for our Title I Annual Meeting and Virtual Open House on September 15th beginning at 5:30pm and 6pm respectively. This event will provide parents information on our Title I program and important information from teachers on what to expect this coming year. Classroom Guidelines for Success and curriculum will shared, as well as ways to keep connected throughout the year. More information will be shared next week. We appreciate all our families who are providing additional support to our learners. The home school connection is a key component in each learners success. Sincerely,
Mildred Helms Elementary IB World School Vision: 100% Student Success
