A glimpse into the modern daymonster
Hi, I'm Monny, sometimes I go by Manny - well, to myfriends at least. I'd like to let everyone know that monsters arejust like everyone else. We aren't all the typical in your face, jump out, and scare you in the middle of the night kind of
creatures. We've been trying to get rid of that stereotype fora while now.
How are we the same? I didn't have a Hallowtine this lastHalloween (Halloween is our Valentine's day). I even got a
"love you" balloon that my friends told me to give to the gal Iwas interested in, but when I tried that, she said I was being"clingy"? I trimmed my claws so I'm not sure how that was
possible.
I love to spend my time reading, it's something that themodern monster has been trying to push in today's culture. It'sespecially great because kids these days get too much screen
time.
Here's a picture of me working on the design for theupcoming Batman vs. Superman movie. Side-note - Bane isthe best villain monsters have ever witnessed. We have a
sculpture dedicated to him that will last forever in ourMonster Museum in Santa Monica. It's a shame that the heroalways wins in those movies. That's next on the our political
agenda.
My housemates are sort of messy. They are the kind ofmonsters that haven't completely assimilated into society and
sometimes they try to scare me by hiding under piles ofclothes! But it's okay. I know they appreciate me.
I don't mean to brag, but I can play a really great cover ofStairway to Heaven. Led Zeppelin even asked me to be theirlead guitarist but it's not the monster mantra to be famous.
We prefer to use our skills to woo potential partners
I don't go out much, but when I do, I love to spend my daydrinking a vanilla latte with a couple of my closest human
friends on the lawn near the library. Us Monsters can teachthe Humans a lesson or two about staying off their phones
and enjoying the day . Maybe I'll let them borrow my copy ofThe Little Prince.
When the university hired me as a marketing intern, they saidI wouldn't be making copies or fetching coffee. They lied.
I'm really exhausted after my days. When they're over, Icrawl into bed and think about what it would be like to be a
human. But I think I like being The Monster, Monny, just fine.
Not your typical monster
