CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION Sunday, June 2 is Corpus Christi Sunday. Our outdoor

procession will immediately follow the 9 am Mass and be

followed by Adoration and conclude with Benediction at

11:50 am. Please park outside the orange cones so we may

process easily through the parking lot. Also, there will be

no coffee and rolls this day so everyone may participate in

this wonderful spiritual event.

MARY’S GARDEN GUILD "Look on the flower, think of Mary."

The Mary's Garden Guild will plant annuals and spread

mulch in the Mary's Garden & Rosary Garden on

Saturday, June 8 from 9-Noon. (rain date is June 15) The

Mary's Gardeners would appreciate your help and you do

not even need a green thumb! Please bring shovels,

pitchforks, gloves, kneepads, wheelbarrows (for mulch) or

other tools you will need. Remember, the planting and

cultivation of a Mary's Garden fosters devotion to Mary that

always leads to Christ. Would you like to help plant flowers

for your Mother? The SFX Mary's Garden Guild always

welcomes new members and consists of novice to master

gardeners. Questions? Contact Marcy at 321-0236

MARY’S GARDEN FLOWERS It was said that when Mary wept at the

foot of the Cross, her tears fell to the

ground and turned into the tiny fragrant

blossoms of the early spring plant, the

Lily of the Valley. In England it had

the name "Our Lady's Tears" because

when viewed from a distance the white

flowerets gave the appearance of tear drops falling. The

flower was also called "Ladder to Heaven" as a symbol of

the handmaid of the Lord.

SUMMER COFFEE & ROLLS For the months of June, July, August & September our

Sunday coffee & rolls schedule will be: June 9, July 21

(Pedals, Pipes, and Performance Organ Tour with Pancake

and Porkie Breakfast), August 18, and September 8 and

15. We will resume our weekly schedule beginning October

6. Thank you so much to all the volunteers who help with

this special ministry.

FRIDAY ARTIST SERIES

This summer we will again be having our Friday Artist

Series. We started this series in Advent and Christmas and

it was a huge success. The series will hopefully take place

later in the summer so watch the church bulletin for Friday

Artist Series dates. These will take place on Fridays from

12:15 to 12:45 p.m. Come and enjoy some beautiful music

in a beautiful prayerful environment!

St. Boniface, feast day is June 5.

Let us stand fast in what is right, and prepare our souls for

trial. Let us wait upon God's strengthening aid and say to

him: "O Lord, you have been our refuge in all generations." Saint Boniface

Did you know that “Boniface” is one of five bells in the

towers of the Cathedral? It weighs in at 1,000 pounds. The

other four bells are “Paul” at 3,400 pounds; “St. Augustine”

at 1,800 pounds; “Annunciation” at 750 pounds; and the

“Virgin Mary” at 450 pounds.

Also, encased in our altar are the relics of St. Boniface

along with relics of St. Timothy, St. Tiburtius, and St.

Francis Xavier.

ROSARY IN THE GARDEN Please join us every Tuesday evening in our rosary garden

behind the Cathedral. We begin at 6:30 pm and plan to do

this through October 15. (weather permitting).

SERVICE OF SHADOWS CD We will soon have our “Service of Shadows” CDs for sale.

They have been done professionally and will sell for $10

each. Part of the proceeds will be used to cover the cost of

having them done and part to go to the ever growing and

evolving Cathedral Music Ministry. These CDs will make

wonderful gifts and can enhance your prayer time.

CATHEDRAL STAFF

Dear Cathedral Parishioners,

Can you believe the calendar? With Memorial Day last weekend, we ushered in the unofficial start of

summer. For many people that means planning a summer vacation. Make sure you plan on taking the Lord with

you on vacation. In other words, plan your vacation so that you can include Mass either on the Saturday Vigil or

on Sunday itself. Or, if you are going up north, and returning to Green Bay before evening on Sunday, there are a

few Sunday evening Masses in the area.

This week is the feast of Corpus Christi or the Body of Christ. This is going to provide us with a unique

opportunity. We are the Roman Catholic Church. Catholic means universal. Pope Francis is going to have a holy

hour of Eucharistic Adoration beginning at 5 pm Rome time. We have been asked to have adoration at exactly the

same time which is 10 am Green Bay time. Here at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral our Corpus Christi procession

will begin at 10 am with Fr. Belongia followed by adoration from 11 am until Benediction at 11:50 am. Literally

the entire world is being asked to pray at the same exact time. We are fortunate that it falls when it does. In some

places 5 pm Rome time may mean the middle of the night. Please be respectful of the procession of the Body of

Christ after Mass today. I ask that normal conversations and greetings be reserved for after the Benediction. This

is part of the Year of Faith that will continue until November. This celebration is meant “to intensify the

celebration of faith…especially in the Eucharist”. This event will allow us to join with the successor of Peter in

the prayer of adoration to Jesus alive in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.

On another note, Deacon Conrad Kieltyka was ordained a deacon on May 18. He is assigned to St. Francis Xavier

Cathedral and St. John the Evangelist just like Fr. Girotti, Fr. Belongia and I. His duties for the summer will

mainly be here at the Cathedral. Because of this, I might not be as visible as in the past. I am doing pastoral work

one weekend a month with Msgr. Klister at the Quad parishes on the west side. That means one weekend a month

from June through September I will be over there.

Blessings to all of you for a safe and prayerful summer, Deacon Tom

Dear Members of Cathedral Parish,

My name is Pat Westlund, the new voice you are hearing on the phone at the parish office. I want to thank

you for the warm welcome so many of you have given me. No one has to tell you of the dedicated team you have

working for you here at the Cathedral. This includes all the volunteers that offer their time and talent to keep the

parish running smoothly. Clearly, the Holy Spirit is working diligently through the people in this community. It is

with this knowledge I graciously accepted Fr. Girotti’s invitation to lead two of the faith formation programs in

the parish. One is the small faith sharing groups that meet in homes or here at the Gehl center. The other is RCIA,

a program that welcomes people into the wonders of our Catholic faith. Our hope is that they too might become

part of a small faith sharing group and continue to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Please, if you are not familiar with our small groups, call us! These are not study sessions in theology or

church history, they are your neighbors; members of this parish community who want to live in the Spirit of

Christ. They are faith-sharing gatherings where we seek to grow closer in our relationship with our God. Each

group will have its own unique quality; each person will have a different “take” on the ideas presented. You will

feel a deeper more reverent connection in your attendance at weekly or daily Mass. Only the Holy Spirit knows

how an individual team will develop. All of us have had challenging life experiences that test our faith; let God

show us the way to peace in this unsettling world.

With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, I look forward to serving you and together we will grow in faith to

share the message of hope and salvation to the people of God.

Blessings always, Pat Westlund
