Community Working Bee – Thursday 24 th March (after the Easter Hat Parade) We are looking forward to a wonderful turnout for our first ever school wide working bee to be held during school hours on the final day of term. We are encouraging parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends of the community to come along and join in with the community effort. We are very lucky to have the fabulous environment and we are very proud of our school However, it does take a lot of effort to keep the grounds under control and looking fabulous. The aim of the working bee is to involve as many members of the communi- ty as possible as many hands make light work. By also involving the students we hope to increase their connect- edness to our school and its environment as well as develop our understanding of community spirit and respect. We encourage our adult helpers to bring along wheel barrows, secateurs, rakes, spades and any other gardening equipment that might be useful. Each grade will be designated a specific area and will work with their adult helpers. We will all then join together for a celebration. Please save the date and watch out for the notice in this week’s newsletter. Paralympian Visit The Grades 5 and 6’s were fortunate to be visited by Para-Olympian Kayak gold medalist, Amanda Reynolds. Amanda gave a very engaging presentation and spoke about the many challenges that she faced from her teenage and early adult years after suffering a knee injury, to the time she had an above knee amputation four years ago. Rather than be overwhelmed with the drama of the amputation, Amanda focused on the many positives that having an amputation has made to her life-style. Amanda also showed the students the different prosthetics that she has had made to enable her to compete at the Olympic level. We will be cheering for Amanda when she competes in this year’s Para-Olympics Kayaking events. School Photos School photos will be taken this Wednesday March 16 th . If photos haven’t been paid for online, please ensure that the envelope is returned with payment with your child/children on the day of the photos. Please also ensure that your child is dressed in the correct uniform. Jumping Sports Jumping sports will be held for the Grades 3-6 this Thursday, 17 th March, 11.30am – 1.30pm. Parents and members of the community are more than welcome to attend. Early Dismissal last day Just a reminder that the last day for term 1 will be Thursday 24 th March. Students will be dismissed at 2.30pm. OSCH Club will operate as normal but will commence at 2.30pm. Please remember to book if you wish your child to attend. Well the term is fast disappearing! There’s still lots of activity happening around the school as we head towards

the Easter break.

Easter Hat Parade Just a reminder to put those finishing touches to your Easter hats in readiness for the parade on the last day of

term. The creativity and effort that students put into their hats never seizes to amaze me. We are really looking

forward to seeing what the students will produce for this year’s parade. This year’s categories are: animal in-

spired, book theme, recycled, math’s inspired and healthy living.

Barn Dance Tickets are selling fast for the community Barn Dance this Saturday, March 20th. We have teamed up with Ferny

Creek Primary School to present what will be a fun family evening. We look forward to seeing a lot of our fami-

lies there. Food and Drinks will be available for purchase and the music will be provided by ‘Eat Ya Greens’. So

break out your cowboy hats and boots and come along for an entertaining evening!

Community Working Bee – Thursday 24th March (after the Easter Hat Parade) We are looking forward to a wonderful turnout for our first ever school wide working bee to be held during

ty as possible as many hands make light work. By also involving the students we hope to increase their connect-

edness to our school and its environment as well as develop our understanding of community spirit and respect. We encourage our adult helpers to bring along wheel barrows, secateurs, rakes, spades and any other gardening

equipment that might be useful. Each grade will be designated a specific area and will work with their adult helpers. We will all then join together

for a celebration. Please save the date and watch out for the notice in this week’s newsletter.

Paralympian Visit The Grades 5 and 6’s were fortunate to be visited by Para-Olympian Kayak gold medalist, Amanda Reynolds.

and early adult years after suffering a knee injury, to the time she had an above knee amputation four years ago.

having an amputation has made to her life-style. Amanda also showed the students the different prosthetics that

she has had made to enable her to compete at the Olympic level. We will be cheering for Amanda when she

competes in this year’s Para-Olympics Kayaking events.

Easter Raffle Join the EGGcitement!!!

Mount Dandenong Primary School’s annual Easter Raffle is

under way. Hop to it and start hunting for an Easter bargain (not necessarily an egg but anything related to Easter) to do-

nate to this year’s raffle. Donations can be left at the of-fice. The more Easter treats contributed, the more the chil-

dren can win and the more money we raise.

Tickets were sent home with each family and there are more available from the of-

fice. The raffle will be drawn at the Easter Hat Parade.
