Welcome to the programme of events in the music department for this academic year. We hope that this gives you a taste of the activities that are being organised for this year and that you are able to keep these dates free. We encourage as many students as possible to attend these events, either as performers or as audience. In fact, every student in years 7-9 is invited to perform in the Winter and Summer Concerts! Please bear with us if there are any slight amendments to dates as the year progresses, but this is out of our hands at the present time. Letters will be available for collection by the students for each of these dates, with specific dates, times and details. I look forward to welcoming students, parents and members of the community to our events this year.

We think that it is really important that our students are actively involved in activities outside the normal school day. We know that this is how our students grow to be well-rounded individuals, who have developed their skills and learning to be success-ful in the future.

Whilst this programme is all about the music enrichment activities available at Weavers Academy, there are other options available.

If you go to our academy website you can see all of the activities we have on offer: www.weaversacademy.org.uk/home/curriculum/extra-curricular-clubs

Additionally to this, we also have a document that gives details about as many activities as we can find that are available in the local area.

Finally, we also include details on additional qualifications that we offer our students outside of the normal curriculum.

At Weavers Academy, we want every student to have the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument, and we want to encourage as many students as possible to take up this offer. It makes no difference if students have previously had lessons or not, or if they want to start something new.

We highly recommend that students who are considering choosing to continue to study music at year 10 and 11 have instrumental or vocal lessons, starting as soon as possible in order to access the highest of grades.

We know that costs are incredibly expensive and so we heavily subsidise for all students. Information about instrumental and vocal lessons is available the music department or from the music page on the academy website. However, in brief, the costs are:

- Termly cost of lessons if unsubsidised - £130

- Termly subsidised costs to Weavers Students - £65

- Termly subsidised cost to Weavers Students in years 10-13 studying music - £45

- Termly subsidised costs to Weavers Pupil Premium Students - £25

In addition to these subsidies, there are further discounts available to be earned each term by joining music department ensembles that run as part of the music enrichment programme (see page 3 for further details)
