An engine making great strides towards improved economic efficiency and environmental protection.Especially quiet. Especially low-emission. The new Econic NGT with gas engine has great respect for both man and the environment and this is shown by hard facts: By using natural gas it emits hardly any particulate matter. In addition the combustion of natural gasproduces about 25 per cent less CO2. When using biogas, the CO2-balance is even neutral.

Additional decisive advantages: The new gas engine of the Econic NGT runs very quietly and efficiently. It falls below the legal limit of 80 dB(A) and also is potentially able to obtain quality seals for especially low-noise vehicles. It is therefore well qualified for its day-to-day work in the Local Authority and waste disposal sectors as well as for urban logistics services.

FULL SPEED AHEAD FOR MORE ON ECONOMIC EFFICIENCY

Environmentally-friendly driving means driving more economically.The new Econic NGT shows how it is done: Lower fuel costs compared to diesel-driven vehicles due to the discovery of new gas fields and the steadily increasing production of biogas will also mean favourable gas prices are possible in future. In addition, gears can now be changed at much lower speeds. For the first time, the maximum torque of the gas engine lies in a wide engine speed range and the rated speed has been distinctly lowered so that it is possible to reduce the fuel and CO2-emissions even further. Another important contribution to moreeconomic efficiency, in comparison with the previous model, is its increased payload of up to 400 kg.

And there are also additional savings as you do not need the additive AdBlue or a particulate filter with a gas-driven engine. Furthermore you can benefit from using your vehicle to its full capacity as with the Econic NGT there are norestrictions on driving in low emission zones.

CO2-neutral on the road. When driving the new Econic NGT with biogas the cycle of sustainability completes a full circle: Because when transportingbiological waste or biomass you may be transporting the raw materials for the fuel for the new Econic NGT yourself. And that pays off twice. For the sake of the environment. And of your company.

Innovative strength, newly developed.Combines safeguarding the future with great efficiency and environmental protection: The innovative drive technology complies with the Euro VI emission standard without a SCR catalytic converter, AdBlue and a particulate filter.

Economical, clean and powerful acceleration. At the heart of the Econic NGT there is an innovative 6-cylinder in-line engine based on the state-of-the-art 936 series engine with 7.7 l,222 kW (302 hp) and a maximum torque of 1,200 Nm which drives with great efficiency, extremely low CO2 and low noise emissions as well as its dynamic handling. All this has been madepossible by using a new combustion and exhaust aftertreatment strategy, among other things. These new technologies lead to an increase in efficiency leading to fuel savings.This reduces both costs and CO2 emissions and has a positive effect on the balance sheet and environmental accounts.

Optimal power transmission. The Allison 6-gear automatic transmission with new Eco-software also plays its part in the efficient performance and makes changing gears easier. In combination with the new 6-cylinder gas engine, the new Allison automatic transmission delivers high power output even at low engine speeds. Torque converter, lock-up clutch, close-ratio forward gears with overdrive and push-button gear selection improve power transmission and together withthe new shift strategy they create the best conditions for relaxed, stress-freeand safe driving.

Persuasive details. The innovative strength of the new Econic NGT has many aspects – for instance, its weight-saving tank system and the new trip computer. The tank system made of weight-optimised steel-composite cylinders not onlyprovides an increased payload of up to 400 kg, but also has a standard tank capacity of 560 l to 700 l – which also means a much greater range. If the range needs to be increased, optional tank versions are available from Mercedes-Benz Custom Tailored Trucks. In addition, the new trip computer in the instrument cluster continually gives the driver exact information about fuel consumption which means that work does not have to be interrupted to fill up until it is really necessary. Designed for the job, designed for the future. With its low entry concept, sustainable Euro VI gas engine, various
