Engineered fortoday's needsLinde E 35 toE 48 ElectricLift Trucks

Hard work gets done best bytackling it with tools properly suited tothe requirements. Referred tomaterial handling, Linde engineersknow the requirements inside and out.So they have equipped the new LindeE 35, E 40 and E 48 electric forklifttrucks with advanced features thatmake work easier when it tends to getreally hard. Yet again, Linde hasnoticeably improved workingconditions for lift truck operators.

Ergonomics applied in full

The first taste of comfort comeswhen mounting the cab by the onelow step and taking position on theideal seat that adjusts wholly to theoperator's liking. Steering wheel, hydraulic control lever and pedals areall functionally placed for convenientreach and actuation. Parking brakeright beside the seat, accustomedcar-style.

Travelling speed is controlled bytwin driving pedals that respondsensitively to foot pressure: rightpedal for forward travel, left forreverse. Nothing to obstruct view ofthe mast in front - which may bestandard, duplex or triplex type.Operator visibility of the best.

Isolated from the truck body, theoperator's cab is supported byspecial shock absorbers that keepundue vibration and noise away fromthe operator.

Energy-saving:the LTM control system

Traction, steering and liftingmotions are controlled through theLinde Transistor Module controller.Made possible by the introduction ofhighly integrated transistors, thisinnovative electronic controllerpurpose-designed for lift trucks saveswear on power system components

while conserving energy - 5% lesspower used for traction alone.

Still more energy savings resultfrom regenerative braking. Whenthe truck is braked, the traction motoris automatically switched to run as agenerator, the energy it then deliversbeing returned in full to the battery. This unique Linde technologyprevents overheating, reduces wearon the carbon brushes, andcontributes to longer life of the motor.

Clear picture at all times:all-in-one dashboard display

Taking safety a step further, Lindehas installed an emergency isolator, centrally placed in ready view andreach. A push on the switchimmediately isolates all electriccircuits.

Servicing made easy too

It's unusual for the battery to bemounted in the rear of the truck. Inprinciple this does counterbalance thetruck and provide the necessarystability. But a more importantconsideration is that replacing thebattery is made so much morepractical. A second lift truck can takethe battery on its forks and lift itsmoothly out. No time wasted, noawkward handling.

Access to the electronic controlsystem is equally convenient. Thesecomponents are readily located underthe operator's seat, where they arereliably protected from dust andmoisture.

A glance at a single instrumenttells it all for the operator: Remainingpower charge available in the batteryTemperature the motor is running at.Level of brake fluid. Wear on motorbrushes.

The materials handling experts.Linde has ranked among the foremost manufacturers

of industrial trucks and hydraulic equipment for manyyears. With main production plants in Germany, France andthe United Kingdom, Linde is a truly International company. The advantages afforded by its various production locationsin respect of know-how, workforce skills, availability of com-ponents and market access are combined to optimum effect.

Electric counterbalance truck3500, 4000 and 4800 kg

Introduction:The four wheel electric counterbalancetruck models E 35, E 40 and E 48, whichcomply with EC directives, have been developedto suit a wide range of intensive and arduousindoor/outdoorapplications.The overall designconcept ensures optimum operator comfort forhigh productivity with minimum fatigue.

Features:• Ideal for indoor/outdoor applications where

engine power trucks are environmentallyunsuitable

• Superbly designed operator's compartmentprovides an outstanding working environment

• Linde Digital Control of traction (LDC)incorporating Linde Brake Control (LBC) forsmooth, responsive, automatic electricbraking, controlled cornering and adjustabletraction characteristics, together withintegrated diagnostics for easier servicingand lower costs

• Large capacity batteries to suit heavy dutyapplications

• Easy battery change procedure for multishiftapplications.

Operator's compartment:A low step facilitates access to the spaciousoperator's compartment which has been de-signed totally with the operator in mind tomaximise the combined efficiency of man andmachine. The advanced ergonomic layout of alloperating controls ensures optimum comfortand minimum fatigue. The working area isgenerous with a level and unobstructed floorplate. The Linde twin accelerator pedals enablessmooth, energy efficient load handling. A singlecentral control lever provides lift, lower and tiltmovements with minimum effort. The integratedoverhead guard and operator's compartmentare available with a fully enclosed cab as anoption.

The full suspension comfort seat is individuallyadjustable to allow each operator to obtain thebest operating position. Comprehensive instru-mentation indicates motor temperature, lowbrake fluid level, parking brake on, brush wear, service interval due, battery discharge andelapsed time (hour meter). This enables costeffective planning of maintenance and chargingschedules for high productivity and minimumdown time. The operator's module is mounted on the chassisby shock absorbing rubber blocks with integralhydraulic dampers resulting in exceptional com-fort even when travelling over rough surfaces.

Chassis:The chassis has been designed to achievemaximum strength and rigidity. A low centre ofgravity ensures excellent stability. The operator'scompartment, motors and electronics are allprotected within the rugged chassis with easyaccessibility for servicing. The battery is locatedat the rear of the truck, above the steer axle, toobtain the maximum counterbalanced effect forhigh residual capacities. This position also faci-litates easy battery changing for multi shift appli-cations. The hinged, steel battery lid has a latchedhand release and is gas sprung when open.

Drive and transmission:A powerful 12.5 kW series wound drive motor ismounted transversely on the axle. Power is trans-mitted to the drive wheels through a reductiongearbox. Electronically governed power reduc-tion when handbrake applied enables safestarting in gradients without roll back.

Electrically system:The trucks are fitted with the advanced elec-tronic control system which governs drive, pump and power steering motors to give smoothstepless traction, lift and tilt movements for safe, accurate load handling especially in confinedareas and at all lift heights. The electrical system

is forced convection cooled by an axial fan andthe motors are fitted with brushless axial fans.A high number of work cycles can be obtainedfrom each battery charge due to the efficiency ofthis system of energy control. The reliable modu-lar construction enables easy maintenance.

Steering:Energy saving, on demand hydrostatic powersteering with a special ergonomically shapedsteering wheel requiring only 4.5 turns lock tolock, and a very low steering effort for outstand-ing manoeuvrability, giving maximum operatorefficiency with minimum fatigue.

Mast and hydraulics:The full range of clearview masts have sealedfor life angled rollers which provide excellentalignment of the moving mast sections withminimal friction to ensure smooth, rapid lift/lower movements and maximum mast rigidity.Mast types:- clearview standard masts- clearview duplex and triplex masts.A powerful 15.0 kW pump motor gives fast liftspeeds for increased productivity.

Braking:These trucks have three independent brakingsystems:1. Hydraulic drum brakes operating on the drive

wheels with hydraulic brake booster.2. Hand lever operated parking brake mecha-

nically connected to the drive wheel drumbrakes.

3. Electrical regenerative braking occurs.-when accelerator pedal is fully released-when opposite direction of travel is selected-automatically on gradients with accelerator

pedal released.Electrical energy is returned to the batteryminimising wear on the service brakes. Ongradients, speed is automatically reduced withthe accelerator pedal released to prevent over-speeding.
