Member Only Content Login The Members’ Section of the DAR Website has a log-in so as to protect the member-specific content from being viewed by the public. To log in, you select your membership state in the dropdown menu (the option for “Overseas” is located at the bottom of the list), then select your chapter name (the option for “Member-at-Large” is listed at the top of the list), and then enter your national number. Once you log in, the computer or mobile device you logged in on will automatically log you in if you visit the site again within a few days, but there is a forced timeout after a few days of inactivity, which will then prompt you to log in again on your next visit. Members’ Section Once you are logged in, you will have access to the Members’ Section content (indicated by the red title bar under the logo in the top left corner), but you can also move freely from the Members’ content back and forth to the public content. To switch back and forth between the publicly available content and the Members’ Section content, at the top of the screen click the [DAR.org] button for public content or the [Members] button for the Members’ content.

The New Members’ Section of the DAR Website

www.dar.org/members -or- members.dar.org

We hope you will explore the new Members’ Section of the DAR Website to feel more comfortable with the new design. The new Members’ Section has many wonderful features which will make your experience with the site much easier and more productive.

• Member Only Content Login The Members’ Section of the DAR Website has a log-in so as to protect the member-specific content from being viewed by the public.

• Members’ Section Once you are logged in, you will have access to the Members’ Section content (indicated by the red title bar under the logo in the top left corner), but you can also move freely from the Members’ content back and forth to the public content. To switch back and forth between the publicly available content and the Members’ Section content, at the top of the screen click the [DAR.org] button for public content or the [Members] button for the Members’ content.

• Responsive Design The new Members’ Section features a responsive design, meaning that the site adjusts to fit whatever type of device you are using. For instance if you are visiting dar.org/members on your tablet or smartphone, the site will shrink from its full monitor size to an easier to use mobile size on your device, so that you still have access to all of the features of the full website.

• Mega Menu To help members more easily navigate the new Members’ Section, a mega menu was added to drop down from the top navigation bar. This menu shows the navigation options for each section within the Members’ Section and presents them to the member all in one primary location to assist locating the topic you are looking for more quickly. It will serve as the primary source for navigating through the Members’ Section of the site. On some pages there will be additional menu bars in the right hand column to assist with navigation.

• Mega Menu Comparison You will notice that the mega menu in the Members’ Section is different than the mega menu options in the public section of the DAR website. These navigation categories are specific to the member content located in this special section. The Members’ Section mega menu options contain all of the same options that were found in the left hand navigation column of the old Members’ Website, but have been slightly re-organized. When in doubt, if you have trouble locating what you are looking for, try looking in the Member Resources section. Also, many times information you may be looking for is located on a specific committee page and you can access those pages by clicking on the Committee button in the mega menu.

• Stationary Header Like on the public site, a new feature of the Members’ Section is a stationary header, which helps make navigating long pages easier. No matter how far down you are on a page you are still able to access the top navigation bar and mega menu easily.

• Advanced Search The new Members’ Section also includes more advanced search functionality, which will help members to better find the specific information they are looking for. The search function can be used by clicking on the magnifying glass in the top right corner of any page on the site, then typing in your search and hitting enter.

• Members’ Section Homepage The new front page of the Members’ Section is organized very similar to the old members’ website homepage. The latest Announcements, Today’s DAR Blog posts, Upcoming Events, and Continental Congress News will show up in the main content area on the left. Frequently Visited quick links will be located in the box on the right hand side. Below that box will be information about Celebrate America! and a link to the online tally to submit your service hours and watch as you help to make the ticker increase.

• Scroll Through Info Boxes The new Members’ Section also features informational boxes with quick links and important topics. These are located at the bottom of the Members’ Section homepage and on the bottom of each page. To see other topics and quick links that may be listed, click the arrows on the right and left sides.

• Online Wish List Members now have the ability to sponsor DAR Wish List items online. Items that were previously listed in the DAR Library Wish List, the DAR Museum Give-A-Book List and the DAR Museum Adopt-an-Object list are now all combined in the new Online Wish List. Here members can purchase books for the Library or sponsor items from the Museum and check out using a credit card.

• DAR Store Online, Magazine Subscriptions and Online Donations Now you are able to do all of your DAR shopping in one transaction! The new website has the ability to allow users to purchase items from the DAR Store, order magazine subscriptions and make online donations (including sponsor Wish List items) all at the same time. After you have added items to your cart and are ready to check out (or just want to view your items), click on the shopping cart icon where you can complete your transaction.

• Larger Text and Scroll to Top Buttons The DAR Website incorporates buttons that allow you to make text larger or smaller on content pages. These buttons are located on the right side of the page where the title is located. Another tool allows you to easily scroll to the top. This up arrow icon is located on the bottom right of the screen and appears as you scroll down the page.
