Weekly thought “Character is not made in crisis, it is exhibited.” “I have set the Lord always before me because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.” – Psalm 16:8 Weekly tip This week concludes the series on the different ways you can use vinegar around your house. This week may be the most favorite way to use it, cooking! 1. To make basic vinaigrette salad dressing use 1 part white distilled vinegar to 4 parts oil. 2. For extra tenderness with boiling ribs or stew meat add a tablespoon of white distilled vinegar. 3. Freshen wilted vegetables by soaking them in cold water containing a spoonful or two of white distilled vinegar. 4. When boiling or steaming cauliflower, beets or other veg- etables, add a teaspoon or two of white distilled vinegar to the water to help them keep their color. This will also improve their taste, and reduce gassy ele- ments. This also works when cooking beans and bean dishes. 5. Make pasta less sticky and reduce some of its starch. Add just a dash of white distilled vin- egar to the water as it cooks. 6. Add moistness and taste to any chocolate cake—homemade or from a box—with a spoonful of white distilled vinegar. 7. If you’ve added too much salt to a recipe, add a spoonful of white distilled vinegar and sugar to try correcting the taste. 8. Turn out great rice by add- ing a teaspoon of white distilled vinegar to the boiling water. 9. To keep eggs from cracking when boiling add a tablespoon or two of white distilled vin- egar to water. I hope you have enjoyed the tips. Tune in next week to see what I have in store. Have a great week everyone!

Church newsAt Straits United Methodist

Church (www.straitsumc.org) April 7 there will be a time change with worship starting at 11 a.m. and Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.

Easter Sunday worship ser-vice included a Lift High The Cross Sunday event. Everyone received a cross and a card. The crosses are not to be kept, but are to be given to a family mem-ber, relative, friend or even a person you do not know that you feel moved to give him or her the card and cross. By doing so, you are simply planting a seed. It’s a tool to use to witness for the Lord. Thank you to all those who wore their Easter bonnets or hats for Easter. Cute photos were taken after the service.

Weekly thought“Character is not made in

crisis, it is exhibited.” “I have set the Lord always before me because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.” – Psalm 16:8

Weekly tipThis week concludes the

series on the different ways you can use vinegar around your house.

This week may be the most favorite way to use it, cooking!

1. To make basic vinaigrette salad dressing use 1 part white

distilled vinegar to 4 parts oil. 2. For extra tenderness with

boiling ribs or stew meat add a tablespoon of white distilled vinegar.

3. Freshen wilted vegetables by soaking them in cold water containing a spoonful or two of white distilled vinegar.

4. When boiling or steaming cauliflower, beets or other veg-etables, add a teaspoon or two of white distilled vinegar to the water to help them keep their color. This will also improve their taste, and reduce gassy ele-ments. This also works when cooking beans and bean dishes.

5. Make pasta less sticky and reduce some of its starch. Add

just a dash of white distilled vin-egar to the water as it cooks.

6. Add moistness and taste to any chocolate cake—homemade or from a box—with a spoonful of white distilled vinegar.

7. If you’ve added too much salt to a recipe, add a spoonful of white distilled vinegar and sugar to try correcting the taste.

8. Turn out great rice by add-ing a teaspoon of white distilled vinegar to the boiling water.

9. To keep eggs from cracking when boiling add a tablespoon or two of white distilled vin-egar to water. I hope you have enjoyed the tips. Tune in next week to see what I have in store. Have a great week everyone!
