The reason behind the North Somerset Agricultural Society

Countryside Day

• Lack of Countryside Education within Schools.

• Globalisation of the food market has led to reduction of knowledge of seasonality.

• Green awareness has lead to the development of the fair trade brand but this does not cover how the food is produced.

• Increase awareness of food miles.

• 170,000 primary school children within 20 miles of the showground.

• Enthusiastic and knowledgeable members of the rural community willing to educate the children about the importance of the countryside, the agricultural industry and country crafts.
