The goal of the Z. I. Hale Museum’s Memories of Times Past “Spring Festival”is to raise funds for the museum’s financial needs. The group hopes that you and your family will come and help them achieve their goal. They will be selling donated merchandise in the Rock Hotel’s Silent Auction and Gift Shop. They will have a raffle for a $450 Dinner and Movie Package - a $300 Perini Ranch Steakhouse gift card, a $100 credit card and a “Tom Perini Cookbook”.

The New Chick-Inn will be serving, 50’s fare, Burgers, Hotdogs and other stuff, the Rock Hotel will be serving Pie by the Slice with drinks and the Cowboy Church Chuck Wagon will be serving food cooked over wood fires. Also, the Cowboy Church’s Chuck Wagon will be letting the kids roast their own weenie and marshmallow over a camp fire. All of these proceeds will be used for the maintenance and up keep of the Z. I. Hale Museum Complex.

Two steps, one sticker. New legislation has reduced the number of stickers Texans are required to have on their vehicles. But it hasn’t cut down on drivers’ responsibility.

“We’re still required to both inspect and register our vehicles,”said John Ross Copeland, Coke County Farm Bureau president. “Farm trucks and trailers are no different. It’s important that Coke County farmers and ranchers still follow through with the steps they completed prior to the change in legislation.”

Farm trailers with a gross vehicle weight under 4,000 pounds need neither registration nor inspection.

Farm trailers between 4,000 and 34,000 pounds do not need inspection and can be registered with a farm tag provided that trailer is used exclusively to haul commodities, supplies and items related to farming.

“The rules haven’t changed,” John Ross Copeland said. “But it’s important with this sticker changeover that we not forget to inspect and register farm vehicles and trailers that need it.”

Drivers caught without proper inspection or registration could face a traffic citation for the infraction.
