3.1. OdorXit® Concentrate dilutedwith water can be safely applied di-

rectly to carpeting, flooring, walls, furniture, bathroom tile, cabinetry, concrete, fabric, leather and manyother materials and surfaces toeliminate odors. (See the Taxi-dermy section for even more uses.)It can also be used in combinationwith carpet cleaning and laundrydetergents (excluding chlorine andoxygen bleaches) for one stepcleaning and deodorizing of carpetand fabric.

3.2. Normally, OdorXit® solutionis sprayed on with either a triggersprayer or a 1/2 - 2 gallon yard ordeck sprayer (See ApplyingOdorXit®).

3.3. You can also use a solution ofOdorXit® and water in a carpet-cleaning machine (with or withoutcarpet shampoo) for large carpetedareas though it is much less effec-tive that using a deck sprayer, or ina washing machine for fabric andrugs small enough to fit into themachine.

3.4. OdorXit® is fully compatiblewith detergents and germicides. Itworks well at any temperature from5 to 130F. OdorXit® eliminatesodors that remain and continue toemerge after application of a ger-micide.

4. How To UseOdorXit® Magic

4.1. Magic by OdorXit® is a sec-ond product in the OdorXit lineup. It has a completely differentchemical makeup than that ofOdorXit Concentrate. Magic treatsmany of the same odors as theConcentrate but ‘neutralizes the

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 8

gases from these odors for a shortperiod of time. Magic by OdorXittreats re-occurring odors. Thegases/odor will be absorbed up to 7days. Since the odor will comeback – bathroom and cat box odorsfor example, Magic needs to be re-sprayed. Retreating the area whenneeded will absorb the odors in-definitely.

4.2. Because Magic by OdorXit®absorbs and neutralizes the gasseswe perceive as odors, it does nothave to be applied directly to thesource of the odor. It simply needsto be in the area where the gassesare being generated or on the airfilter in your furnace/air handler.

4.3. Magic by OdorXit® is veryeasy to use, fast acting and longlasting. Occasional re-applicationkeeps odors neutralized indefi-nitely.

5. OdorXit® AQM/ClO2 AirQuality Manager

5.1. OdorXit® AQM/ClO2 –AirQuality Manager - is a combinationof powders that produces chlorinedioxide gas when exposed to wateror water vapor. There are 2 sizes:10 and 25 gram package.

5.2. All packages are enclosed inan airtight Mylar package that mustbe removed just prior to use.

5.3. OdorXit® AQM/ClO2 requiresa minimum of 40% relative humid-ity and 35 degrees F for the productto produce chlorine dioxide gas. Asmall amount of water, (1-3 drops)can be added in the provided plasticpacket not on the white micropouch

in cases where the humidity is toolow.

5.4. OdorXit® AQM is extremelyeffective against odor sources thatwill oxidize and particularly usefulon surfaces that are hard or impos-sible to reach or that will not toler-ate water based products.

5.5. Oxidation products includingOdorXit® AQM can be dangerousif used improperly, so carefullyread and follow the instructionsfor your specific application.

6. Safety6.1. All OdorXit® products arenontoxic, non-irritating, non-flammable, non-carcinogenic, non-staining and biodegradable. Whentreating urine they give off no un-pleasant and possibly harmful am-monia gas. They conform to theRIFM and IFRA guidelines. Inconcentrated form, avoid openflame. If eyes are exposed to Con-centrate or Magic, eyes should beflushed with water.

6.2. WARNING: OdorXit® Con-centrate is considered by the U.S.Department of Labor's MaterialSafety Data Sheet (MSDS) to be aminor eye irritant when in concen-trated form and non-irritating whendiluted according to directions.OdorXit® is a mixture of organicsalts and oils that by their very na-ture have a small but not zero po-tential to cause allergic reactions inhumans and pets. If any unusual re-action occurs, consult a physicianimmediately. Listening SystemsInc. will make every effort to sup-ply any requested information.

6.3. Magic by OdorXit® is a mix-ture of water and essential oils thatby their very nature have a smallbut not zero potential to cause al-lergic reactions in humans and pets.If any unusual reaction occurs, con-sult a physician immediately. Lis-tening Systems Inc. will makeevery effort to supply any re-quested information.

6.4. If AQM/CL02 packet is swal-lowed, contact a physician immedi-ately. Listening Systems Inc. willmake every effort to supply any re-quested information.

6.5. Keep this and all odor elimina-tion products out of the reach ofchildren and pets.

7. How OdorXit® Works7.1. OdorXit® Concentrate uses acombination of three chemicalprocesses to remove odors:

i Counteraction. It pairs withmany odors to neutralize theodor.

ii Absorption. It physicallypenetrates many odor causingsubstances and converts theminto other byproducts that haveno odor.

iii Bonding. It physically bindsto many odor-causing sub-stances changing them foreverinto non odor producing by-products.

8. Who Needs OdorXit®?8.1. YOU and pet owners, rentalproperty owners and managers, house renovators, professional car-pet cleaners and installers, appli-ance re-sellers, homeowners, taxi-

dermists, fishermen, animalgroomers, veterinarians, horseowners, nursing homes, smokers, day care centers, taxidermists, trashdisposable companies, groomers, shoe store owners, restaurants andrestaurant workers, bars and bar-tenders and anyone with organicand many inorganic odor problemsshould be using OdorXit® prod-ucts.

9. Magic by OdorXit®9.1. Magic by OdorXit® is a verydifferent chemistry than OdorXit’sother products. Magic is safe touse around pets, children and peo-ple and is mostly water. It absorbsthe gases the odor gives off for 7-10 days before additional Magicneeds to be applied.

9.2. Magic by OdorXit® uses anew, fast and very effective ap-proach to solving odor problems. When sprayed on an odor source orsimply into the area containing un-pleasant odors, Magic by OdorXit®absorbs or alters the gas so that wedo not perceive an unpleasant odor.

9.3. Magic by OdorXit® worksbest with re-occurring odors. Catbox odors for example. The catwill continue to use the litter box sothe odor will be back.

9.4. Bathroom odors, Porto lets, shoes with no socks odors, eventrash cans. Because you continueto use the smelly area in the sameway that created the odor, the smellwill be back. Magic will absorb theodors made in those areas now andas they are made for 7-10 days inthe future.

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 10

9.5. The timing may be less than 7-10 days before the next applicationis necessary. When there is moregas in the area than the Magic byOdorXit, the smell will come back. Then it is time to reapply Magic.

9.6. Magic by OdorXit® absorbs avery wide range of unpleasantsmells including tobacco smoke, mold, mildew, spoiled food, fish, animal scent spray (including catand skunk), animal and human ex-crement, diaper and diaper pail, bedpan, sick room, and cooking. It alsoabsorbs many inorganic and chemi-cal odors.

9.7. Magic by OdorXit® is longlasting and completely effective ona very broad range of odors. It issimple to use: simply spray it intothe affected area or directly ontothe odor source.

9.8. For treating large areas likebathrooms, showers, kitchens andother areas with tile or cementfloors, add 4 or 5 ounces ofOdorXit® Magic to a bucket of de-tergent or rinse water, mop it onand allow it to dry. It can also beapplied to furnace air filters.

9.9. Magic by OdorXit® alsoeliminates the odors produced inportable toilet holding tanks. Justpour 4-6 ounces in your toilet, add1 or 2 quarts of water and flush thetoilet.

9.10. It starts working immediatelyand continues for up to 3 months oruntil the tank is emptied.

9.11. Do not spray Magic byOdorXit® directly in the faces ofanimals or humans. For odors on

animals (dog body odor, skunk, etc.) spray Magic in your hands andrub your hands on the fur. If theanimal was just “sprayed” by askunk, he will not want to besprayed by something else. Do noteat or drink OdorXit® Magic. Keepthis and all odor control productsout of the reach of children

9.12. Magic by OdorXit® is avail-able as a ready to spray liquid.

10. Using OdorXit® Con-centrate

10.1. OdorXit® Concentrate is themost effective organic odor de-stroyer available at any price.

10.2. OdorXit® Concentrate workswhen it is diluted with water andcomes in direct contact with anodor's source. Therefore, you needto use enough to penetrate to theplaces where the odor originated;for example, under carpet tackstrips, between drywall and base-boards, between the joint cracks inhardwood flooring, between toestrip and baseboards, betweenfloorboards and wall nailer boards.

10.3. For information on specialapplications and solutions to ex-traordinary situations read our OdorWizard section atwww.OdorXit.com/?wiz often. It isupdated when we have new infor-mation or approaches to solvingreally tough problems.

10.4. If you have additional ques-tions or concerns, please call us onour toll free help line 1-877-OdorXit or email us your questionsat odorxit.com/?OXEmail.

10.5. Our success depends on yousucceeding with OdorXit®. Let ushelp you be successful.

11. Urine Odors11.1. Eliminating pet urine fromany porous material can be a chal-lenge, for two main reasons:

11.2. Urine’s low surface tensionallows it to soak into cracks andporous materials very quickly, and

11.3. Urine goes through severalchemical transformations as it driesand decomposes.

11.4. Fortunately, OdorXit® han-dles both of these challenges.

11.5. OdorXit® diluted 1part Con-centrate-to-30 parts water willpenetrate to the same areas as theurine in most cases. Where verydeep penetration has occurred intocarpet, flooring or concrete,OdorXit® can be mixed with carpetcleaning products containing sur-factants to accelerate penetrationand odor removal.

11.6. OdorXit® works on urine andall the bad-smelling chemicals itproduces. It permanently blocks theproduction of the undesirable gas-ses, as long as the OdorXit® comesin contact with all the offendingmaterials.

11.7. Since it is unaffected by de-tergents, OdorXit® is very effec-tive at neutralizing urine odor afterother methods have been tried andfailed. Normally, removing theresidue from other odor controlproducts is not necessary forOdorXit® to be successful, but inextreme cases (especially with car-pet) it may be necessary to remove

as much of the residue as possiblebefore using OdorXit®.

11.8. If wood or concrete flooringhas been painted, re-finished,and/or sealed in an attempt to blockan odor, liquid OdorXit® will NOTbe able to get into the areas wherethe gas is being produced by theurine byproducts. Removing the"seal" will allow OdorXit® to getbelow the paint, finish, or sealer. Some OdorXit® users have beensuccessful treating hardwood floor-ing that have been painted and/orsealed by drilling small holes be-tween the boards and injectingOdorXit® solution into the floor.

11.9. Buy a syringe type turkeybaster at the grocery. Cut the tip ofthe needle off and use this to injectthe OdorXit Concentrate solutioninto the drilled holes. You’ll wanta drill bit the same size as the tur-key baster syringe needle. Or youcan call OdorXit 877-636-7948(877-Odor-Xit) and ask to buy a sy-ringe. We do not advertise these onthe website.

12. Pet Spray12.1. Cats and dogs, both male andfemale will try to establish their“territories” by marking walls, floors, furniture and clothing withtheir scenting sprays. This is theirway of preventing trespass by otheranimals and humans or simply es-tablishing their dominance overother animals in the house orapartment. The hormonal spray hasa very heavy musk odor which isvery different and often muchstronger that urine.

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 12

12.2. Hormonal spray areas are of-ten difficult to find because theyare usually very small and, veryhard to see, particularly on fabrics.

12.3. The most effective way tofind the problem area is to com-pletely air out the room and sniffaround until you find the place(s)that needs treatment.

12.4. Another method that some-times works is to use a black light(long wave UV only) in a darkenedroom. The affected areas willsometimes light up bluish green toyellowish green depending on thepresence of fluorescent material inthe animal’s spray. We not offer 3battery operated UV-LED lightsthat are very bright and effective.

12.5. Preparing the affected areabefore applying OdorXit® is veryimportant to successfully eliminat-ing the odor.

12.6. Washing walls with a goodspray-on cleaner or TSP solution, and using a plastic dish scrubber(or brush) then rinsing with a wetsponge (or rag) will remove mostof the surface material. This re-duces the amount of material thatOdorXit® must neutralize, but doesnot remove the contamination thathas soaked into the wallboard, pan-eling or grout.

12.7. If the spray is on a piece offurniture or carpet, have the areaprofessionally cleaned before ap-plying OdorXit®. If the cleaningperson will cooperate, add an ounceof OdorXit® to his cleaning solu-tion. It can really helps!

12.8. OdorXit® Concentration forthis application should be 1 to 1.5ounces per 15 ounces of water, starting with the weaker solution.

12.9. DO NOT USE ODORXIT®CONCENTRATE UNDILUTEDOR WITH LESS THAN 10OUNCES OF WATER PEROUNCE OF ODORXIT®CONCENTRATE.

12.10. Because scent sprays are somuch stronger than normal odorsand they are oil based, one applica-tion of cleaner and OdorXit® maynot completely do the job.OdorXit® must be allowed to soakinto the affected area for it to work.If the spray is on the wall, applyOdorXit® to the entire area, wet-ting the wall, baseboard, and adja-cent area of the floor.

12.11. After application, the smellof OdorXit® itself often lingers formany days. Spraying unscentedammonia diluted at least 1 partammonia to 4 parts water on anarea that is retaining the OdorXit®smell will help a lot.

13. Skunk Smell13.1. One of the most offensiveodors in nature, skunk spray, canget into lots of places, butOdorXit® can get it out.

13.2. Pets:

i Skunks can spray your dog orcat from up to 10 feet away andleave them reeking for weeks!

ii Removing skunk spray odorfrom a pet is normally a laborintensive task requiring bathing, tomato juice, and/or a mixtureof hydrogen peroxide, baking

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 13

soda, and detergent. NOT! Thebathing part is pretty normal, but the tomato juice is hard toget out of their fur and hydro-gen peroxide can bleach a dogor cat’s coat and burn theireyes, ears and sensitive mucusmembranes if you’re not carefulenough and rinse it proply.

iii Throw out the tomato juiceand peroxide and just batheyour pet as you would normallyusing a vet approved mild de-tergent shampoo and then rinsewith lukewarm water.

iv Then mix 1 ounce ofOdorXit® Concentrate with onequart of warm water and applythe solution to your pet’s fur.Use a washcloth or smallsponge to apply OdorXit® solu-tion to the face and ears, avoid-ing the inner ear, the eyes andnose. After waiting approxi-mately 5 minutes, rinse your petwith lukewarm water. Towelyour pet dry as best you can andallow them to finish dryingnaturally. Once dry, your petshould be free of skunk odor. Ifhe is not, sniff him or her. Findthe spot(s) that the solutionmissed. Apply the solutionthere until the odor is completlygone. REMEMBER: OdorXitworks on contact so you mustget the solution to ALL of theskunk odor spray material onyour pet.

13.3. Automobile(Inside and Out)

i If you've been unfortunateenough to run over a skunk, or

if a skunk has found its wayinto your garage, or you droveyou skunked dog to the vet orgroomer to be deskunked, youprobably need to treat both theinside and the outside of yourvehicle to get rid of the stench.

ii If you hit a skunk, runningthe car or truck through an auto-matic car wash first will makethe odor elimination a bit easier.

iii Start by treating the wheelsand undercarriage. If you'relucky, stopping the smell therewill also knock out any skunksmell inside the vehicle withouthaving to treat the carpeting andupholstery.

iv To treat the outside of thecar, spray the undercarriagewith a yard or deck sprayer con-taining 4 ounces of OdorXit®Concentrate mixed with 1 gal-lon of water. Be sure to coverthe entire undercarriage, wheelsand lower paint. In order to dothis effectively, you'll probablyhave to lie on the ground andspray the car from underneath.Allow the mixture to air dry andyou're finished.

v Tractors and Motorcycles aremuch easier because they giveyou easy access to the under-body.

13.4. To treat the interior of yourvehicle, mix 1 ounce of OdorXit®Concentrate with 20 ounces (yes,20 ounces – skunk spray is strong!)of water in a small handheld spraybottle. Spray the vehicle's carpetingand upholstery evenly and allow toair dry slowly. This may need to be

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 14

repeated depending on how in-tensely the skunk odor permeatedthe vehicle or how much you dogtracked the skunk odor around.

13.5. Carpet with Skunk

i Skunk odor on carpeting maybe very smelly but it is almostalways a superficial or surfacecontamination (unless the skunkactually sprayed the carpet).Odors carried in on shoes andpet paws are easily removed byspraying only the contaminatedspots on the floor.

ii Mix 1 ounce of OdorXit®Concentrate with 20 ounces ofwater in a spray bottle. Giveeach spot on the carpet a coupleof good spays and allow it to airdry.

iii It is not necessary to saturatethe rug because the contamina-tion is just on the surface. Infact, flooding the area maymake the problem worse by al-lowing the odor producing ma-terial to be carried deeper intothe carpet fibers and saturatethe carpet padding.

iv Carpet that has been sprayeddirectly by a skunk may not berecoverable, especially if it hashad time to soak in.

13.6. Machine Washable Fabricand Clothing with Skunk

i If you were unlucky enough tohave been sprayed by a skunkor just had your recentlysprayed dog rub against you,OdorXit® Concentrate willwork on your clothes as well asyour skin.

ii Removing skunk odor frommachine washable fabric re-quires adding 1-2 ounces ofOdorXit® Concentrate to thewashing machine at the begin-ning of the wash cycle with thenormal amount of laundry de-tergent. Allow the wash cycle tocomplete but delay the first spincycle for 30 to 60 minutes(most top loading washers willrun to the end of the first washcycle with the lid open and thenstop before the spin cycle starts;front load washers and the new"ultra safe" top load machinesare a bit more difficult; consultyour user’s manual for yourproper procedure). Often, push-ing the “pause” button on thefront loader will do the samething.

iii After the wash/soak time, close the lid or restart the ma-chine and let the machine finishits normal cycles. In somecases, it may be necessary torun the final rinse twice.

13.7. Leather with Skunk

i If you were wearing leatherswhen you hit the skunk on yourmotorcycle, leave the bike forlater and start right away onyour leathers. As soon as possi-ble hose yourself off, rinse increek water or any fresh wateryou can find. The more of theskunk spray you can removebefore it dries the less you willhave to neutralize later.

ii After rinsing yourself, do thebike. Again, the more you can

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 15

rinse off, the less you have toneutralize later.

iii When you get to yourOdorXit®, spray everythingdown with a mixture of 1 ounceOdorXit® and 30 ounces of wa-ter. The odor will disappear!

13.8. Dry Clean Only Fabric andClothing with Skunk

i Delicate dresses, blouses, shirts and wool suits shouldhave the contaminated areassprayed with OdorXit® Con-centrate diluted 1 ounce to 30ounces of water. Allow to dryovernight.

ii If the odor returns, repeat thesame process. When the odor iscompletely eliminated dry cleanand press. The odor will not re-turn.

13.9. Furniture with Fabric Uphol-stery

i Skunk odor on furniture up-holstery can be a bit more diffi-cult because much of the fabricused on furniture is not color-fast. Before you attempt a furni-ture recovery project, test theOdorXit® solution on the backof the piece to see what hap-pens. If watermarks or bleach-ing occur you’ll have to decidewhich problem to live with.

ii Since skunk odor on furnitureis most often the result of askunk-sprayed dog jumping upon the furniture before he wasdeodorized, there is usuallyvery little skunk spray materialon the furniture. Just spray thecontaminated area with

OdorXit® Concentrate mixed 1ounce to 20 to 30 ounces of wa-ter) and allow it to dry slowly.

iii Multiple applications maybe necessary to remove the en-tire odor, but it will work.

13.10. Skunk odor Around TheHouse

i If you have had a skunk sprayin your garage, under a porch orsteps or even in the crawl space,OdorXit® Concentrate can re-move the odor there, too. Smallor closed areas can be treatedwith a deck or yard sprayer.

ii For more difficult-to-reachareas like under stairs or crawlspace, use a hose end sprayer, aspecial plastic nozzle that has adispensing jar screwed on thebottom. The sprayer mixes thecontents of the bottle with thewater being sprayed.

iii Put about 4 ounces ofOdorXit® Concentrate in thebottle and fill it half way withwater. Spray it on the areawhere the odor is coming fromuntil the dispenser bottle isempty. The odor will be gone inan hour or so.

14. Carpets14.1. Even if your carpet urine odorproblem seems to be coming fromthe surface, it almost always in-volves the carpet's nap, backing, padding, and often the floor underthe padding.

14.2. If you have what is termedcontractor grade or Berber carpet-ing, the chances of removing theentire urine odor is almost zero.

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 16

The way the carpet is manufacturedis what causes the problem. Mil-lions of little pockets in the gluethat holds the carpet together holdurine residue which is very difficultto access with OdorXit® solution.

14.3. Most padding is made of asponge-like material that can hold alarge volume of liquid; it acts like aconcentrator for the urine residue. As the water in the urine slowlyevaporates (though the carpet) theurine spreads into an ever-wideningcircle in the padding and the resi-due accumulates in the padding.

14.4. Because the misbehaving ani-mals usually like to use the samespot over and over again, repeatedapplications of urine result in moreconcentrated deposits and larger ar-eas of residue. Fresh urine in carpetcan go undetected for weeks ormonths and then all at once becomea big problem. When the paddingbecomes saturated, the liquid soaksinto the flooring and allows thecarpet above to stay wet for a muchlonger time. This situation pro-duces much more odor.

14.5. Recovering contaminatedpadding, because of its ability tohold liquid like a sponge, is almostnever possible. The amount of con-centrated contamination, the physi-cal makeup of the foam, and therelatively low cost of replacementpadding, make even attempting re-covery of the padding a losingproposition. Your best bet is to useOdorXit® Concentrate to get thesmells out of the carpet and thefloor, and buy new padding.

14.6. Cats and dogs have differenthabits! Dogs most often urinate inthe center of a room, making itharder to reach the contaminatedareas of carpet, padding and floor.REMEMBER: The OdorXit®solution must come in direct con-tact with ALL the odor produc-ing sources. Leaving the paddingin place and treating just the carpetwill often reduce the odor to amanageable level but will nevereliminate it. Further, if the paddingis wet (as it usually is), it will staywet for at least weeks, and some-times months, damaging both car-peting and flooring. Weekly spray-ing of the contaminated area withMagic by OdorXit® will controlthe remaining odor.

14.7. When cats have contaminateda carpet, it is often along the walland/or in the corners. This meansthe carpet, padding and flooring arenot the only elements involved. When wall-to-wall carpeting is in-volved, you’ll need to replace thewooden tack strip that holds theedge down.

14.8. In newer construction houses, another area that can be involved isthe 2 by 4 along the bottom of thewall and the dry wall attached to it.Urine will wick along the flooringor sub-flooring and under this pieceof wood and up between it and thedrywall. Whenever the humiditygoes up, it will smell bad! TheOdorXit® solution must go wher-ever the urine went in order to stopthe odor.

14.9. We recommend that you startyour carpet recovery effort with a

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 17

carpet-cleaning machine to cleanthe carpet with carpet shampoo(Manufactures instructions on con-centrations). There are many bene-fits to this method of application:

i The carpet gets cleaned,

ii Much of whatever else wasused previously to eliminate theodor is removed, and

iii The wetting additive in theshampoo will help theOdorXit® penetrate deeply intothe carpet nap and backing.

14.10. Most upright carpet-cleaningmachines will do a great job. Rentone that has agitators or beaterbars.

14.11. All carpet-cleaning ma-chines will spray warm to hot solu-tion of carpet shampoo into thecarpet and then retrieve the excesssolution and much of the dirt fromthe carpet. This is just what isneeded for carpet contaminationthat has not gotten completely outof hand and ruined the carpet.

14.12. After the cleaning process, use a pump type deck or gardensprayer to apply the OdorXit® So-lution (1 part Concentrate 30 partswater) onto the carpet. One quart ofsolution should do about 50 to 100square feet of carpet.

14.13. If the carpet seems to beclean but the urine odor persists, the odor is coming from the pad-ding and flooring under the carpetor from spray or urine on the adja-cent wall. Heavily contaminatedcarpet will almost always have tobe pulled back and sprayed on theback as well.

14.14. Carpet padding is made of afoam material that is a haven forurine residue. Because padding isrelatively inexpensive and easy tohandle, we recommend that you cutout the contaminated padding andreplace it with new after the odorproblem is resolved.

14.15. Spray the floor after wash-ing it (Wood Flooring or ConcreteFloors) and the back of the carpetand give the OdorXit® overnight towork.

14.16. When there is urine con-tamination near the wall, it is verylikely that the urine went under thewall. Spraying OdorXit® directlyunder the baseboard and drywallwill usually result in enough vol-ume of OdorXit® to get to thesame area the urine went to. Drill-ing small holes through the drywalland wall plate and then injectingOdorXit® will sometimes be nec-essary (refer to the picture on theweb site atOdorXit.com/?ANSpclTools).

14.17. When it appears that theodor is completely gone, spray amist of plain water everywhere youhad urine contamination and waitseveral minutes. If there’s no badodor, you have successfully elimi-nated the odors. Now you can tapeand staple the new padding inplace, replace the removed tackstrip and reset (or have the carpetreset) on the tack strips.

14.18. Do not expect one of thesehousehold type carpet cleaners torestore badly soiled carpet to newcondition. They are not capable ofdoing the same job that the profes-

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 18

sional machines can do, but are ex-cellent for getting the majority ofthe dirt out. If the carpet is odorfree but still not clean enough, callin the pros and have it cleanedagain.

14.19. One last note: cleaning yourcarpets, also removes most dirt andstain repellents, allowing your car-pet to get dirty much faster than be-fore. Re-applying Scotchgard® orsimilar product can restore the dirtrepellent action to nearly new lev-els.

15. Wood Flooring15.1. When dealing with odorsfrom wood floors, the unfortunatefact is that pet urine spots havegenerally been left to soak in fordays, if not weeks or months. Un-finished flooring under carpet pad-ding is capable of absorbing anenormous amount of liquid. Evenfinished hardwood flooring hasgaps between the boards where liq-uid can flow and then wick a longway from the initial contaminationspot.

15.2. Washing the floor with deter-gent or TSP before applyingOdorXit® will significantly reducethe amount of OdorXit® necessaryto eliminate the odor.

15.3. OdorXit® Concentrate shouldbe mixed 4 ounces per gallon or 1ounce per quart of water for floor-ing. The concentration is less im-portant than getting the solution incontact with all of the wet and/ordried urine in and on the floor. Onresistant areas, adding 1-2 ouncesof Hoover regular carpet cleaner

(no additives) per ounce ofOdorXit® will improve perform-ance on plywood, particleboard andOSB. Warning! Using carpetcleaner on hardwood may warp orcup the boards; additionally OSBand particleboard are very sensitiveto water encroachment.

15.4. The most effective way toapply OdorXit® to flooring is touse a new 1/2 to 3 gallon tanksprayer with a fan type nozzle.Sears, R.L. Flo-Master and Lescooffer good ones. Seeodorxit.com/?ANGeneral.

15.5. NOTE: Use a new sprayer!OdorXit® does not eliminate thesmell of most yard chemicals thatmay have been used in an existingsprayer.

15.6. OdorXit® solution must beapplied so that it has a chance tosoak into the unfinished flooringand into the cracks between theboards of plank flooring. Hard-wood floor applications should take10 to 15 minutes to dry; plywoodshould take 20 to 30 minutes.

15.7. OdorXit® cannot save urine-rotted (black and sticky) wood.Remove the worst of the wood, clean and then use OdorXit® onthe wood under the removed wood.Scrape out any soft spots in raftersor joists, and then spray withOdorXit®. When the odor is goneapply floor-leveling compound, re-place the flooring with new andmove on.

16. Concrete Floors16.1. Though concrete seems to bea hard, dense material, it is actually

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 19

quite porous and can absorb largeamounts of pet urine and fecal mat-ter that cannot be washed away.Eliminating these odors is quitesimple with OdorXit® Concentrate,if the floor has not been sealed orpainted after the contamination.

16.2. Preparation for treating bareconcrete with OdorXit® includescleaning manageable sized sectionsof floor TSP (Tri-Sodium Phos-phate).

16.3. Using a high pressure watersprayer can actually make the prob-lem much worse because it canforce the urine and feces residuedeeper into the concrete, making itnearly impossible to remove.

16.4. Used properly, where the wa-ter blast is striking the floor at lessthan 45 degrees it can effectivelyclean the surface of the concretebut often contaminates the sur-rounding walls.

16.5. Wet the area with detergentsolution and keep it wet for 1 or 5minutes (light scrubbing may help).Rinse with clean water severaltimes. Removing the spent deter-gent and rinse water with a wet/dryshop vac or carpet cleaning ma-chine is much more effective thanmoping or washing it down thedrain.

16.6. Do not flood large areas; be-cause some of the urine residue isstill water soluble and can bespread around to contaminate a lar-ger area.

16.7. If the floor was previouslypainted or has tile glue do not re-move it because the urine was not

able to penetrate it. The point toremember is; the urine could notpenetrate the paint or glue either.

16.8. Multiple heavy applicationsof OdorXit® solution to the heavilycontaminated areas will ofteneliminate the odor if the contamina-tion is not too deep and extreme.

16.9. Using the TSP approachabove may help. Persistent prob-lems may require that the concretebe etched with phosphoric or hy-drochloric acid to open the surfaceof the concrete. If you think youhave this problem, call our helpline 877-636-7948 before proceed-ing!

17. Feces Odors17.1. Removing pet feces fromflooring and carpeting is much eas-ier than urine because it is not aliquid and it does not produce theurea salts.

17.2. Removing the bulk of the ma-terial and washing the area with de-tergent will remove most of theodor and stain. If the stain is notcompletely removed with normaldetergent, carpet cleaner will re-move the rest of the stain with a lit-tle scrubbing.

17.3. Finally, spray the area thor-oughly with OdorXit® Concentratemixed 1 ounce per quart of waterand allow the area to dry naturally. In an hour or so, the smell will beremoved forever.

17.4. If you are dealing with anoverflowed toilet, the problem is abit more difficult because of thelarge amount of water added to theurine and feces. If the problem oc-

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 20

curred in rental property, it is likelythat hours or days have passedsince the overflow occurred.

17.5. After the plumbing is clearedand the bulk of the overflow hasbeen mopped up, spray the areathoroughly with OdorXit® Concen-trate mixed 1 ounce per quart ofwater and allow the area to drynaturally. Be sure that areas that arehard to clean, like cracks in the tile, the area under the vanity and heat-ing vents in the floor, get thor-oughly wetted with OdorXit® solu-tion.

18. Bathrooms18.1. Using OdorXit® products toeliminate urine, mold and mildewodors in bathrooms are a commonand effective application.

18.2. If the area around the toilet isall ceramic tiles, wash the area withspray cleaner and spray withOdorXit® Concentrate solution 1ounce per quart of water. Makesure that all the grout is wetted, aswell as the tile, the toilet and underthe tank.

18.3. If the walls are covered withwallpaper, the problem will be a bitmore difficult. Because the gluethat holds the wallpaper on the wallis water-soluble, the water in theurine and diluted OdorXit® Con-centrate may cause it to release.

18.4. Replacing the wallpaper maybe necessary in some cases simplybecause the urine has soakedthrough the paper into the wall. Ifthis is the case, remove the wallpa-per and residual paste, then spraythe wall with OdorXit® to eradi-

cate the odor source in the wall andallow it to dry completely. Replacethe wallpaper with a water-resistantvariety, if possible.

18.5. If the wall covering is Marlite(plastic coated masonite), makesure the seams and any breaks orcracks in the surface are floodedwith diluted OdorXit® Concen-trate. OdorXit® concentration forthis application should be 1 ounceper quart of water.

18.6. If the floor is carpeted, referto the Carpets section.

19. Bathroom Mold andMildew

19.1. Removing mold and mildewodors from walls and other surfacessimply involves hanging a 10 gramOdorXit® AQM/ClO2 packet overthe door or on the side of the van-ity. (Not in or very near the showeror tub. This will accelerate thepacket and substantially reduce itlife).

19.2. In just 2 or 3 days, you willnotice the mold has disappearedfrom the shower walls and floorand the odor will be gone. This isbecause the mold and spores havebeen oxidized and will not returnsoon. Seeodorxit.com/?ANUsingclo2 for ad-ditional information.

20. Removing Odors fromSkin

20.1. Eliminating fish, blood, meatand other organic odors from skinis simple and safe.

20.2. Wash the affected skin withwarm water and mild hand soap,

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 21

rinse, dry and spray with OdorXit®Concentrate solution mixed 1ounce per quart or Magic byOdorXit®. Rub the OdorXit®lightly until dry. The odor will begone and the OdorXit® odor can bewashed off.

21. Machine-WashableFabric

21.1. To remove organic odors in-cluding urine, vomit, spoiled food, mold and mildew odor from ma-chine-washable fabric, add 1/2 to 1ounce of OdorXit® Concentrate tothe washing machine at the begin-ning of the wash cycle. Allow thefirst wash cycle to complete, thendelay the first spin cycle for 30 to60 minutes (you can do this easilywith most top loading washers byleaving the lid open). After thewash/soak time, let the machinefinish its normal cycles. In somecases, it may be necessary to runthe final rinse twice.

22. Furniture with FabricUpholstery

22.1. Organic odors in furnitureupholstery can be a bit more diffi-cult because much of the fabricused on furniture is not colorfast. Before you attempt a furniture re-covery project, test OdorXit® onthe back of the piece to see whathappens. If watermarks are createdyou will have to decide whether togo ahead or not.

22.2. If the furniture fabric is color-fast, remove as much of the stain-ing material from the surface aspossible. Then wash the stain witha combination of water, mild up-

holstery cleaner and OdorXit®Concentrate (mix 1 ounce ofOdorXit® with each quart of up-holstery solution).

22.3. If you have a wand vacuumcleaner attachment, vacuum thearea to remove the cleaner, waterand contaminant. Then spray onanother application of justOdorXit® Concentrate mixed 1ounce per quart (32 ounces) of wa-ter and allow it to dry.

22.4. If the contamination hassoaked deeply into the furniturepadding, it will be necessary totreat the padding separately. Some-times this can be done without re-moving the upholstery cover, but inmany cases, taking the cover offwill be a better choice becauseyou’ll need much more OdorXit®to get to all the contamination inthe padding than is needed for justthe covering. In this case and espe-cially with foam padding, you mayfind that it is cheaper and easier toreplace the padding.

23. Leather Furniture &Clothes

23.1. Organic odors in leatherproducts of all kinds are a chal-lenge for a number of reasons, notthe least of which is the thicknessof the leather.

23.2. In the case of urine contami-nation, normal cleaning methods donot work because leather can hold alarge amount of urine residue.OdorXit® Concentrate is uniquelyqualified to work on contaminatedleather because it neutralizes the

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 22

urine residue rather than removingit.

23.3. Special care is required be-cause getting leather wet can radi-cally alter its texture and flexibility.

23.4. What we have found thatworks best is to have the leathercleaned professionally to removethe bulk of urine, and anything elseyou may have applied to the con-taminated area. Do not have theleather treated with softeners at thispoint.

23.5. Spray the area front and back(if you can get to the back) withOdorXit® Concentrate mixed 1ounce per quart of water, and let itdry slowly. You may have to treatthe area a few times over a periodof several days to neutralize theurine residue.

23.6. When you think the odor isgone, spray the area with water andsniff. When the odor is completelyremoved, the water will generate noodor at all.

23.7. With the odor removed, havethe area treated with leather sof-tener to restore the original textureand flexibility.

24. Floods and SewerBackups

24.1. Floods and sewer backups, aside from being a health hazard, often leave a large amount of odor-causing material behind, soakedinto walls and drywall, wood, andeven concrete. Since the odor-causing agents almost always con-tain human or animal waste prod-ucts, OdorXit® Concentrate is

uniquely suited to eliminate theodors.

24.2. The difficulty in dealing withthese problems compared to simplebasement mold and mildew is thatthe contamination is everywherethe water was, and the amount ofcontamination left behind can bemassive.

24.3. The first step is to remove asmuch of the contamination (sludge)as possible to prevent it from dry-ing on surfaces. Start by using elec-tric or gas driven pumps to removethe gross amount of water.

24.4. To get rid of the sludge aswell you’ll need to hose down theentire area while it is draining. Youdon’t want to let the sludge dry be-cause it will get as hard as cementand extremely difficult to remove. It is much easier and more cost ef-fective to wash as much away aspossible before applying OdorXit®Concentrate.

24.5. As soon as the water andsludge have been removed and be-fore the area has dried, hose and/orscrub the affected area with lowsuds detergent (TSP). Rinse andsweep or squeegee the area nearlydry.

24.6. Third, spray the entire af-fected area with a low concentra-tion batch of OdorXit® Concen-trate. Two ounces of OdorXit® pergallon of water should be sufficientfor the first application. Don't for-get the inside of the furnace, thebottom of the steps andshelves...everywhere!

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 23

After the affected area has dried andaired out for several hours, check thearea for odors and treat any persistentareas with the normal concentrationof OdorXit® mixed 1 ounce perquart of water.

25. Garbage and SpoiledFood

25.1. Garbage, spoiled food androtting meat odors can all be elimi-nated with OdorXit® Concentrate.

25.2. The odor under a sink orcounter where food has been al-lowed to spoil can be treated easily.First, remove the bulk of thespoiled food by sweeping and/orwashing the area with detergentand water. Then, spray the areathoroughly with the normal concen-tration of OdorXit® mixed 1 ounceper quart of water.

25.3. Spraying the inside of a gar-bage can will reduce but often noteliminate the odor unless the canhas been rinsed out prior to spray-ing; this is because the smallchunks of material left in the cando not get soaked with OdorXit®.As the material continues to de-compose, additional odor is pro-duced. Spraying Magic by OdorXitsprayed into a garbage can will ab-sorb the odor for several days perapplication.

25.4. The odor of sour milk in fab-ric like car seats or carpeting can beeliminated by washing the affectedsurface area with detergent and wa-ter, and then soaking the fabric andpadding with low concentrationOdorXit® Concentrate (1 or 2

ounces of Concentrate in 1 gallonof water).

25.5. In the case of foam paddedseats, several treatments from bothtop and bottom may be necessary. This is because the foam has a ten-dency to hide material in nearly in-accessible areas. Unless you reallysoak the foam, the odor will oftenreturn (though substantially re-duced) when the car is left in thesun for several hours with the win-dows closed.

26. Refrigerator Odors26.1. Home and RV Refrigerators, freezers, and coolers that have beenleft closed without cooling have atruly unique odor that is normallyvery difficult to eliminate. How-ever, with a little work andOdorXit® Concentrate you can re-cover even the worst smelling ones.

26.2. Refrigerators and freezersneed to be completely defrostedand thoroughly cleaned beforespraying with OdorXit®. You maywant to take the unit outdoors anduse a garden hose for this step.Seams on the interior and gasketsneed special attention while wash-ing and spraying because spilledfoods often hide there to decom-pose and produce bad odors. Rinsecompletely and wipe dry.

26.3. Spray the entire interior withConcentrate mixed 1 ounce perquart of water. Next, in the back ofmany refrigerators, there is either ahole in the interior where 2 tubesemerge from the insulation or thereis a small passage that connects thefreezer section to the refrigerator

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 24

section of the unit. Spray this areathoroughly because it is so difficultto wash!

26.4. If your freezer has large ventsalong the bottom in the front youmay need to remove the plasticfloor of the freezer in order to cleanthe food and goop from the coolingcoils that hide within.

26.5. Finally, close the doors whenyou are finished spraying the entireinterior of the unit. The next day, briefly air out the unit to purge theresidual OdorXit® smell and yourrefrigerator, freezer or cooler willbe ready for use, without the nastysmell!

26.6. An hour spent cleaning andspraying OdorXit® on a reallysmelly refrigerator can restore a$900 unit to service instead of re-placing it with another.

27. Vomit Odors27.1. Removing vomit odors re-quires a 2-step process.

27.2. The first step is to remove thebulk of the vomit material andthoroughly wash the area with a de-tergent that is appropriate for thecontaminated material. Remove asmuch of the dissolved vomit anddetergent/water solution as possible(a Wet/Dry vacuum works great).

27.3. This should be done promptlybecause vomit contains a signifi-cant amount of stomach acid, which will destroy many materialsif left to do its damage. If thesource is a small pet, the cleaningstep can be as easy as blotting upthe vomit with a paper towel; forlarger animals and humans, the

cleaning step must be more aggres-sive.

27.4. The second step is to com-pletely wet the area Concentratemixed 1 ounce per quart of waterand leave it to dry. OdorXit® Con-centrate alters the remaining odor-causing compounds so that theywill not produce odors.

27.5. Auto carpet is often more dif-ficult because it is thin but has athick absorbent padding (sound-deadening material). Additionally, cars are exposed to very high tem-peratures when left in the sun, which makes odor problems worse.

27.6. However, the solution is thesame, though it may be necessaryto remove both the carpet and pad-ding from the car to wash and rinseit completely. Rinsing with a gar-den hose and nozzle is very effec-tive.

27.7. After thoroughly rinsing, al-low both the carpet and padding todry. Spray or pour diluted Concen-trate mixed 1 ounce per quart ofwater on the affected areas (theones that still smell bad) and allowto dry slowly (not in the sun).

27.8. When the OdorXit® is dry,the odor will normally be gone for-ever. If it is not (occasionally thecase for vomit that has been left forseveral days) apply a second doseof OdorXit® solution. More thantwo applications are almost neverrequired.

28. Kennel and CatteryOdors

28.1. Kennels and Catteries, evenwhen cleaned and disinfected on afrequent and regular basis, are sub-ject to odors that do not respondwell to over-the-counter odor con-trol products. Even industrialstrength odor control products oftenhave difficulty with urine odors andfrequently contain chemicals thatare dangerous to both pets and hu-mans.

28.2. Instead of trying to digest theodor-causing urine byproducts,OdorXit® neutralizes these materi-als, rendering them incapable ofproducing the gasses that cause ob-jectionable odors.

28.3. Concrete Floor KennelsWhen treating bare concrete con-taminated with urine and feceswash the area first with nearly anylow suds detergent and rinse withwater. Then spray the area withOdorXit® Concentrate diluted 1ounce of OdorXit® to 32 ounces ofwater.

28.4. In cases where the contamina-tion has soaked deeply into theconcrete, we have found that add-ing 1 or 2 ounce of Hoover regularcarpet cleaning shampoo (those thatcontain surfactants) for each ounceof OdorXit® Concentrate solutionmakes it work better. When usingany product containing surfactants,be careful not to get them on yourskin.

28.5. Dogs and cats should not beexposed to the surfactants. If youdo use products containing surfac-

tants to get the odors under control,be sure to wash and flush the areaafter the odors have been elimi-nated to get rid of the residuals.

28.6. Finally, when using carpetshampoo with OdorXit®, make uponly what you can use immediatelybecause the shampoo will neutral-ize the effectiveness of OdorXit®Concentrate in about 48 hours. Itwill no longer work.

28.7. Cattery cages, show cagesand play pens are areas that oftensuffer from strong odors includingurine, feces, vomit, hair-balls andhormonal spray. Hormonal spray isby far the most pungent and diffi-cult to eliminate. OdorXit® Con-centrate is fully capable of elimi-nating all of these odors, generallywith only one application diluted1ounce to 32 ounces of water.

28.8. Spraying the bottom of litterpans before adding litter will elimi-nate the existing urine odor andprevent new odor from developingfor days. Spraying Magic byOdorXit will further reduce the lit-ter box odor for days.

28.9. You should not let pets, espe-cially small and very young oneslie in cleaning, disinfectant andodor elimination products of anykind. Even though the warningclassification for OdorXit® is ex-tremely mild compared to cleaningand disinfectant products com-monly used in kennels and cat-teries, do not let pets lie inOdorXit® solution or any solutioncontaining surfactants.

29. Tidbits ofInformation

29.1. This section discusses appli-cations that don’t easily fit intoother categories.

29.2. Using OdorXit® with carpetshampoo: Mixing some carpetshampoos like Hoover regularshampoo (those that contain surfac-tants) with OdorXit® Concentratewill improve the penetration ofOdorXit® into porous material likewood, concrete and other buildingmaterials by a significant margin.Adding 2 or 6 ounces per gallon isusually quite enough to get the de-sired results, BUT... you need touse all of the mixture within 12hours. Carpet shampoos breakdown OdorXit® Concentrate andmake it ineffective.

29.3. Treating extreme contamina-tion: We have come across situa-tions of contamination that were sobad that extreme measures had tobe employed.

29.4. In a recent case, a room withonly pine tongue and grove boardsfor flooring was severely contami-nated with cat urine over manyyears. Washing the flooring withTSP several times did not stop theurine salts from appearing on thesurface after the boards dried. Ap-plying several doses of OdorXit®reduced, but did not eliminate theodor in the room.

29.5. The owner removed severalof the worst stained boards only tofind that the rafters and ceiling be-low were also badly contaminatedby urine that ran between the

boards. In a case like this, it is clearthat saving the flooring boards isprobably not cost-effective, butsaving the rafters and ceiling mate-rial and replacing some or all of thecontaminated flooring wouldclearly be cost-effective and neces-sary.

29.6. Another example of extremecontamination involved an apart-ment that had been vacant for re-pairs for nearly 2 months. When weremoved the carpeting we foundthat the carpet backing in someheavily contaminated areas wasstill wet with urine! The paddingwas unusual in that it was foampadding with a plastic membranewith small breather holes on thecarpet side. It appears that this plas-tic trapped most but not all of theurine between the top of the pad-ding and the back of the carpet.

29.7. We could have dumped aquart of OdorXit® solution directlyon the area and not gotten all thesmell out. Additionally, the carpetbacking in these wet areas was soweak that when it was removed thebacking split easily. The flooringunder the wet areas was treatedwith OdorXit®. The next day, theurine smell was gone.

30. Odors OdorXit® Prod-ucts Cannot Eliminate

30.1. Though OdorXit® has themost effective odor eliminator everformulated, there are odors thateven OdorXit® Concentrate cannoteliminate. They include:• Fire and smoke• Skunk spray on leather

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 27

• Inorganic odors like gasoline andheating oil

31. Applying OdorXit®Concentrate

31.1. Using the proper applicator isan important part of getting the bestresults from OdorXit®. For verysmall areas (like a one-time pet ac-cident), a trigger pump sprayer isacceptable. For larger areas youshould consider a garden type tanksprayer.

31.2. Warning! Do Not use tanksprayers that have been used foryard or bug poison chemicals. Buya new one.

31.3. Sears, Lesco, and RL Flo-Master all have several sprayersthat we have used and liked. Plasticpump sprayers work better thanmetal ones because they cost lessand don't chip doorframes andcabinetry when bumped.

31.4. All these manufacturers nor-mally provide cone spray nozzleson their units but we prefer the fanspray type because they work bet-ter. Nozzles that provide flow ratesof .5 to .25 gallons per minute workbest. Ask your supplier to installthem for you so you know that theywill fit your spray wand.

31.5. Flow rates; spraying the wallsand ceiling with a high flow nozzlewill result in runs and streakscaused by too much liquid. The lowand very low flow rate nozzles,(less than .1 gallons per minute) notonly put out less material but alsocause the spray to be much finer. The higher flow rate nozzles are

required for treating concrete wallsor blocks and most wood flooring.

31.6. Adding carpet cleaningshampoo (2 or 3 ounces per gallon)to the mixture of water andOdorXit® Concentrate allows thesesmaller droplets to completelycover an area without causing runsand drips that can create lastingstains on the walls.

32. Testimonials32.1. "While cleaning up a vacantapartment, I discovered the tenantshad kept their dog closed up in oneroom while they were gone. Twocorners smelled the worst! Isprayed OdorXit® Concentrate onthe whole carpet. I came back 2days later. The smell was better butnot completely gone. I vacuumed, and sprayed OdorXit® one moretime. The next time I came back, the odor was completely gone. Itwas easy and inexpensive and I wasable to re-rent the apartment rightaway."Don Beck, Diversified InvestorsGroup, Philadelphia

32.2. • “We heartily endorse theuse of OdorXit® Concentrate overany similar product. We have triedseveral different brands in the pastwith mixed results. OdorXit® per-forms its magic with odors and thengoes away. OdorXit® is ideal forrental homes because it can handledifferent odors and it does not be-come part of the problem. Severalbrands may deal with odors butthen leave behind an aroma that isalmost as unpleasant as the originalodor you were dealing with in thefirst place. Anything that does not

leave a clean or no smell is notwhat works in rental homes. Peopleassociate odors with problems andwith OdorXit® there is no prob-lem.”Louis D. Brown, Trust Associates(Nationally known Real Estate In-vestment Speaker)

32.3. "I just wanted to take thisopportunity to thank you for intro-ducing me to this great product. Ihad a sick cat that somehow madeits way into my completely reno-vated home and sprayed its urineall over the living room. My clean-ing crew tried everything to removethe smell from the house. Nothingworked until I had them tryOdorXit® Concentrate. The smellwas eliminated immediately andthe buyer was willing to continuewith the transaction. I truly believethat the deal would not have closedif I had not been able to rid thehome of that horrible cat urinesmell.”Robyn Thompson, Home BuyersLLC, nationally known investmentand rehab speaker.

32.4. “I wanted to send this note totell you that OdorXit® is wonder-ful. I manage two apartment build-ings for single, formerly homelessfolks. Unfortunately this group isnot the most attentive to detail withhome cleaning and maintenance. Our primary use of OdorXit® is toclean refrigerators. We have haddozens of refrigerators that had tobe thrown out before I foundOdorXit®. We have had unitswhich had been turned off and hadrotted meat and eggs in them.

OdorXit® took the odor out, savingme $400 per unit. We have alsoused OdorXit® to neutralize urinein the floor tiles around toilets andto neutralize and clean up body flu-ids when a tenant expired and wasnot found for several days. I heardabout OdorXit® when I was inPennsylvania at a Real Estate train-ing course and have passed theword along to others. Let's not keepa great thing a secret!”Lois Ann Russell, Senior PropertyManager New Haven CT

33. OdorXit® AQM/ClO2

Air Quality Manager Gen-eral Usage

33.1. Because ClO2 (Chlorine Di-oxide) gas cannot be safely bottled, compressed or shipped, OdorXit®AQM is supplied in powder form inan air-tight Mylar outer packageand a specially sealed white micro-pouch® reactor inner package toprotect the user from the powderedchemicals and control the rate theClO2 is produced and released.

33.2. When the powder is exposedto water vapor or water, a reactionis started that produces chlorine di-oxide gas. Controlling the amountof water vapor entering the micro-pouch® package and the exactmakeup of the powder in the packetdetermine the rate the ClO2 gas isproduced.

33.3. The keys to the effective useof ClO2 are to:

i Make sure the odor is beingcaused by an agent that willoxidize. Agents that will oxi-dize include but are not limited

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 29

to tobacco and fire smoke, mold, spores, germs, garbage, skunk, ferret, and cat spray (butnot urine odor) dog body oils(causes wet dog smell), rottingmeat and vegetable matter, curry and fish lingering odors, burned popcorn in a microwavesmell, and even allergens in theair.

ii Get the ClO2 to the odor caus-ing agent. Since it is a gas,OdorXit® AQM/ClO2 easilygets to odor causing agents inclosed spaces and is more suc-cessful with a small fan near thepouch to stir the air.

33.4. The OdorXit AQM micro-pouch is made to last 20-30 days.It is made to release a small amountof chlorine dioxide each which atthat rate is perfectly safe for adults, children and pets to breath.

33.5. If too much mois-ture/humidity or water is added tothe packet, 30 days of ClO2 will beproduced in 2 days. That will betoo much for safe breathing andshould leave the area.

33.6. See below for specific appli-cation information.

34. Using AQM/ClO2 toRemove Odors FromSmall Items

i Removing odors from smallitems and those that cannot tol-erate water can be very diffi-cult. However, items likebooks, toys, shoes, clothing andmemorabilia of all types thathave mold, tobacco smoke, orfire smoke can be recovered

without further damage withOdorXit® AQM/ClO2.

ii Remove the inner micro-pouch from the Mylar outerpacket and place it in the in-cluded adhesive backed pouchon the wall of a metal storagecabinet, plastic storage tub, small closet or school locker.(Do not use a cardboard boxbecause cardboard actually ab-sorbs most the ClO2 gas andoxidization of the odor will notoccur.) The mentioned con-tainers will adequately containthe ClO2 gas while your itemsare being deodorized.

iii Mold and its odor are nor-mally removed in as little as 1or 2 days. Wiping away thebulk of the mold fungus(blooms) before treatment willgreatly improve your results.

iv Smoke odor (both tobaccoand fire smoke) will take 2 to 4days of treatment. Washingwashable items before treat-ment with AQM will improveresults.

v Shoe odor will take 1 or 2days. Because of the shape ofshoes and boots, using a verysmall fan to circulate the air andClO2 into the shoes and bootswill greatly improve your re-sults.

35. Removing SportsEquipment Odors fromGym Bags, Lockers andClosets

35.1. Using the10 gram packet ofOdorXit AQM/ClO2 placed in the

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 30

clear adhesive backed pouch andplaced on the end or side of the bagand will eliminate the body andfungus odor from your athlete’ssports equipment.

35.2. Laying the clothes neatly (notwadded) in the gym bag and unfoldany equipment so the vapor fromthe AQM packet can circulate allaround the items in the gym bagwill vastly improve product per-formance.

35.3. In a locker or closet, hang theclothes with a slight space betweeneach hanger and piece of clothing, again so the vapor can circulate onall sides of the items. You’ll needa small personal fan set on low, sit-ting on the floor pointing upward tohelp circulate the vapor because ittends to accumulate on the floor..

35.4. The vapor must come in con-tact with the odors and odorsources to oxidize them.

35.5. Open the silver mylar packetwhen you are in the area where youwant to use the product. Insert thewhite micro-pouch® into the plas-tic container that came with yourpurchase. (You don’t want youritems to be in direct contact withthe white micro-pouch.)

35.6. Place the self-adhesive plasticpouch at the end of the gym bag oron the base of the fan in a locker orcloset.

35.7. If you’ve received the plasticclam shell, place it at the bottom ofthe gym bag, closet or locker withthe holes side up, allowing the va-por to escape into the enclosed con-tainer.

35.8. Close the closet, locker orgym bag to keep the vapor insidethe enclosed area.

35.9. Normally, it would take 1-5days to oxidize these odors. Sincethe locker and the gym bag are sosmall, it could take much less timeto oxidize the odors.

35.10. If you are in a very dry area, add 1-2 drops of water to the clearpouch to raise the humidity to startthe creation of the Cl02 gas and theoxidization process.

35.11. DO NOT ADD any morewater than that. It WILL speed upthe production of the ClO2 and ma-terially reduce the time ClO2 isproduced resulting in the incom-plete oxidization of all the odorsources. You will also not want tobreathe that stronger ClO2.

35.12. Used properly, ClO2 will notharm leather, plastics, elastics orfabric in athletic ware.

35.13. The AQM pouch can last20-30 days depending on how wetthe clothes in the bag, locker orcloset are. Excessive moisture (wa-ter) will cause the packet to pro-duce more vapors for a shorter pe-riod of time (as little as 1 day)which is much too short for thisapplication. You should also avoidbreathing that higher concentrationof ClO2.

35.14. Dispose of the white micro-pouch in an outside trash can orplace into another bag or closet ifthe packet is still producing ClO2.

35.15. The vapor will oxidize theodors of smoke, mold, mildew, cooking odors (such as curry, fish

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 31

and even burned popcorn in a mi-crowave) in the treated area.

36. Burned Popcorn Odorin a Microwave

36.1. Use a 10 gram packet for themicrowave to get rid of burnedpopcorn smell.

36.2. Just place the micropouch inthe microwave on plate or in aglass or ceramic cup.

36.3. Add 1-2 drops of water notdirectly on the micro-pouch.

36.4. Close the microwave doorand come back t day and the odorwill be gone.

37. Tobacco and/or Moldin Vehicles

i Using the 10 gram version ofOdorXit® AQM on odors inyour car or truck is an ex-tremely simple and safe proce-dure when you follow the direc-tions. Just attach the included‘peel and stick’ plastic pouch toan inconspicuous place in yourvehicle (like on the bottom ofthe dash board, or behind theseat in a 2 seat pickup truck)with the opening up.

ii Open the Silver Mylar packetand remove the white micro-pouch® packet inside. (NEVERopen the micropouch.) Insertthe 10 gram OdorXit® AQMpacket into the clear pouch. Ifyou live in a very dry climate, you should place a few drops(no more than 2-3 drops) of wa-ter in the plastic packet – not onthe micropouch® - before in-serting it into the pouch. This

tiny amount of water is all thatis needed to start the productionof chlorine dioxide and beginthe deodorization of your vehi-cle.

iii All sizes of OdorXit® AQMpackets produce gas for 20 to30 days depending on the rela-tive humidity. (The higher thehumidity the shorter time itlasts.)

iv Using a 10 gram version ofOdorXit® AQM in fast modeby adding 10 drops of water is abit more complex and the fol-lowing instructions must be fol-lowed carefully to avoid expos-ing yourself to potentially dan-gerous levels of ClO2.

v First, before opening the sil-ver Mylar packet, prepare thecar by emptying the ash traysand clean them with detergentand water.

vi Remove personal belongingsand debris from the vehicle.Vacuum the interior of the ve-hicle, including the floor matsand under the floor mats.

vii Wipe dust and dirt from thedashboard and other surfaces.

viii Then place the water in theplastic pouch and insert thewhite Tyvek packet into thepouch. Do NOT stay in the carmore than 10-15 minutesbreathing the higher concentra-tion of chlorine dioxide.

ix Remove the white micro-pouch® from the foil shippingpackage and place into the selfadhesive packet.

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 32

x Fasten the self adhesivepacket to the center of the car.Do not allow the deodorizingpouch to contact the interior ofthe vehicle as bleaching willoccur.

xi Place a small personal fan onthe floor of the car to circulatethe gas into the air so the gasgets to all the nooks and crev-ices where smoke and odors arehiding. Without a fan, the gas, since it is heavier than air, willsit on the floor and not oxidizeodors near the top of the car.

xii Close all the doors and win-dows of the vehicle and wait 2-4 hours depending on theamount of odor present.

xiii Open all the doors of thevehicle, and wait for at least 5minutes before entering the ve-hicle.

xiv Remove the deodorizingpouch from the vehicle and ei-ther move it to another car thatbeen prepared and needs de-odorizing or discard the pouchin an outdoor refuse container.DO NOT DISCARD POUCHINDOORS.

xv Note: The AQM pouch willcontinue to produce higher thansafely breathable amounts ofchlorine dioxide for 12 to 24hours when 10 drops of waterhave been added. So it can bepicked up and moved to be re-used in other cars or closets, small spaces that have odorsthat need oxidized - severaltimes during this period.

37.2. Using AQM on Moldy orSmelly Furniture

i Furniture that smells of moldor mildew can be treated effec-tively with AQM by placing a10 gram packet in or near thefurniture with a small personalfan to circulate the ClO2 aroundand into the piece. Remove theinner white micro-pouch fromthe Mylar outer packet andplace it with a few drops of wa-ter (if the relative humidity isbelow 40%) on a plate or in theprovided clear pouch inside thefurniture or drawer for a day ortwo per isolated space.

ii When treating a roll-top orsecretary type desk, open orremove the drawers and binsand place them so that the ClO2

can get behind them as well asinside them. Place the packet ona plate or in the pouch as aboveand close the roll top or secre-tary door for a day or two.

iii If the mold is on the outsideof the piece, make a tent out ofa plastic drop cloth creating anair space on top of the piece andput a 10 gram packet under thetent with the piece. Open or re-move all the drawers and doorsso that the ClO2 can get insideall the places that need odorremoval. Leave undisturbed for1 to 3 days then check for odor.

iv Because the space is sosmall, plenty of the gas is beingproduced and often no fan isneeded to stir the air unless thepiece is very tall. Be careful tocompletely air out the area

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 33

when you remove the tent andare preparing to stay in theroom or area.

37.3. Using ClO2 in Smelly Base-ments

i Mold and musty smells inbasements and cellars makeclothing smell bad and in somecases actually damages theclothing and other fiber prod-ucts stored below grade.

ii Using one or two 25 gramOdorXit® AQM packets in abasement area that has activemold or just that musty smellwill not only eliminate themusty smell, it will oxidize anyactive mold and mold sporesand other allergens that arethere as well.

37.4. Using a small desk fan or boxfan on low to stir the air and ClO2

will assure maximum benefit. Of-ten, the only thing you will noticeis the lack of musty smell when thisproduct is working.

37.5. If you have an extreme caseof mold (for example, when abasement has been flooded by astorm or there has been an extendedpower failure), using the AQMwith 10 drops of water will speedthe process to just 24 hours andoxidize the mold, spores and germsin the open spaces. Properly placedfans are critical to success.

37.6. Often times 24 hours to getrid of nasty smells that have takenyears or months to accumulatesounds to good to be true. And of-ten it is. If it took years to accumu-late, letting the packets react for

20-30 days with a fan to allow thegas to travel to all the hard to get toplaces will be much more effectiveat eliminating odors than trying toget rid of them overnight. Be pa-tient. Use the 20-30 days treatmentprocedure when ever you can. Youwill get rid of more odors that way.

38. Using ClO2 on TrashContainers

38.1. Trash containers and closeddumpsters that contain kitchenwaste and other materials that areprone to producing very bad smellscan be treated long term with chlo-rine dioxide gas. It not only con-trols the odor but oxidizes most ofthe germs that cause the smells aswell. The only requirement is thatthe container be closed most of thetime to contain the ClO2 gas.

38.2. The size of the container andthe amount of air leakage deter-mine the size of the AQM pouches. As an example, a 30 or 50 gallongarbage can with a tight fitting lidwill require only a 10 gram pouchto control the odor for up to amonth. A garbage can with a loosefitting lid will need a 10 grampouch too. A dumpster with ahinged top and 1 or 2 side accessdoors will need a 25 gram pouch.

38.3. Users of the dumpster need tobe instructed to close the doors af-ter use, if they wish to have a gar-bage disposal facility that does notsmell bad.

38.4. Waste Containers (Trashcans): Tear open the foil packagingpouch prior to use and remove the

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 34

10 gram AQM pouch. Attach thepouch to the side of the lid of thecontainer with the included self ad-hesive pouch (so that the pouchdoes not get thrown out with thegarbage). Do not pierce the micro-pouch® when attaching it to or re-moving it from the container! Eachpouch will produce ClO2 for up to1 month.

38.5. Refuse Containers (Dump-sters): Tear open the foil packagingprior to use and remove the 25gram AQM micropouch. Using theincluded self adhesive packet (sothat the pouch does not get thrownout with the garbage), attach thepouch to the side of the dumpster inan area where it will not be torn offby the trash being dumped out. Donot pierce the AQM pouch attach-ing it to or removing it from thecontainer! Two 25-gram poucheswill treat a closed 160 cubic footcontainer for up to 1 month. To beeffective, the container doors mustremain closed.

39. Using OdorXit® Con-centrate for Taxidermy

39.1. OdorXit® Concentrate is safeto use on any hide and does not re-quire rinsing or special treatmentafter use. It must come in directcontact with the material that iscausing the odor. This might be theoil excreted from scent glands, orthe oil encountered when skinning-out a fish, or any number of othersources because there is no per-fume or covering scent in OdorXitConcentrate, there will be no lin-gering odor of any kind.

39.2. When you soak a hide inpreparation for mounting, add someOdorXit® Concentrate to the water,(2 to 4 ounces per gallon of water)and let it work. When you are readyto mount the hide, the odor will begone, and in a few hours, theOdorXit® smell will be gone too.

39.3. Hides that are alreadymounted can be sprayed withOdorXit® solution to eliminateodors. Mix OdorXit® Concentrate2 ounces per quart of water andspray it on the hide, hair and hornsto wet the area that has the prob-lem. Brush it into the hair and hideand let it dry slowly (do not use afan).

39.4. Depending on the animal andthe amount of odor, you may haveto treat the mount more than onceto eliminate the odor entirely. When the odor is deep in the hide,it takes a step by step approachwith progressive levels of aggres-sive treatment to eliminate theodor. As always, OdorXit® Con-centrate MUST come in contactwith the odor-causing agent in thehide to neutralize the odor. Re-peated superficial treatments willnot solve this problem.

39.5. OdorXit® eliminates mostglandular secretion odors. Thereare a few that do not respond and asthey become apparent, we will pub-lish the list so that you don't wasteyour time and OdorXit® on theseproblems.

39.6. Pet Urine Odors in Hide RugsOdorXit® was originally formu-lated to eliminate pet odors in car-peting, flooring and other places

Copyright ©Listening Systems Inc 2014 35

where dogs and cats urinate. Elimi-nating these odors in a Bear Rug ismuch the same as the procedure re-quired for any other odor in a hide.

39.7. The affected area must bethoroughly wetted with OdorXit®solution and left to work for severalhours. Because urine has a ten-dency to soak deeply into porousmaterials, wetting both sides of thehide will improve the penetrationand reduce the amount ofOdorXit® required to do the job.

39.8. So you’re frustrated be-cause you’re not getting odorsout of your shoes, your mat-tresses, even your basement. You’re upset because you thinkyou’ve tried everything andnothing works. And you stillhave a ray of hope that some-thing else just might have theanswer.
