Successful meeting with EU delegatesto identify and formulate EU actions in support of Education Sector Reforms in Egypt...
The meeting dealt with the points of excellence at Helwan university, shed the light on the system of higher education in Egypt and the cooperation between HU Faculty of Education, the Ministry of Education and the Professional Academy for Teachers. Also, they discussed the challenges and points of future cooperation between HU and EU in order to support the different types of reforms in the Education Sector.

Helwan University has recently established an international Relations Office (IRO). The office is functioning to implement the university strategies in internationalization. To remarkably address internationalization, many areas are tackled including: promoting exchange of faculty and researchers; tracking grants; encouraging twining programs with international universities; and diversifying the student population among others.

The discussions touched many areas of collaboration between the two universities. Prof. Hosam Refai, HU Vice-president suggested to initiate collaboration between INEMA joint program and the International Education Institute of NCEPU. Whereas Prof. Mona Foaad, HU Vice-president proposed some ideas to encourage the joint research. Prof. Mokhtar Bakr, the university chancellor, emphasized on the edge Helwan University has in Engineering with its two schools of Engineering. The scholarships for Helwan University students have also been given special attention during the discussions. Prof. Mayada Belal, the director of IRO, capitalized on the presence of the Chinese university delegates to open the doors for more types of scholarships.

IRO had successfully organized a workshop"Proposal writing for International Projects"for faculty staff at HU in collaboration with CardiffMetropolitan University...

The workshop included how to develop project ideas, Erasmus application management and submission, technical and financial issues that might face the project implementation. The workshop was organized within the Erasmus technical support sessions launched by HU IRO to encourage HU community to apply for international funded projects.

Cooperation between Egyptian and Australian universities...Prof. Maged Najm, President of Helwan University, received -His Excellency- The Australian Ambassador to Egypt- Glenn Miles; Dr. Nancy Bahig and Ms. Safia Muyeen- Australian Embassy Officials.
During the meeting, information was exchanged about the higher education system in Australia and Egypt, in addition to the available means of cooperation between Egyptian and Australian universities. A fruitful discussion also took place concerning the possibility of establishing joint programs/dual degrees and potential funding agencies for academic mobility in both countries. Ambassador Miles explained that an official delegation from Higher Education in Australia and the Regional Officer in Dubai for Australian Higher Education will visit Egypt in March, and a meeting will be planned to discuss the mechanisms of activating cooperation in the field of higher education between Egypt and Australia.

The head deputies of the Academic Mobility& International Funds Divisionsin the IRO at Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK
The deputy of the academic mobility division in the IRO and the assistant professor of economics in the Faculty of commerce and business administration, Dr. Dalia Kaies, has been granted an Erasmus+ mobility grant upon which she undertook her 1 week staff mobility for teaching at Cardiff Metropolitan University in the School of management in October 2018.
The head deputy of the international funds division in the IRO and the teaching assistant of curriculum and teaching methods in the Faculty of physical education, Dr. Esraa Yasser Daoud, has been granted an Erasmus+ mobility grant upon which she undertook her 1 week staff mobility for training at Cardiff Metropolitan University in the School of sports and the international & partnerships office in March 2019.

Prof. Mokhtar Bakr, the university’s chancellor for international agreements and projects had an Erasmus mobility exchange visit to Cardiff Metropolitan University looking for more future collaboration in joint programs and projects. He discussed the future projects, course mapping for students’ mobility and how to deepen the partnerships with Cardiff Metropolitan University.

IRO knocked the doors for different areas of cooperation with Prof. Martin lindner(Martin Luther University- Germany) during his visit to HU, the visit included leading an international seminar to HU community entitled" University, schools and Society partnership". Also, IRO team agreed on developing an MoU for joint cooperation between the two parties in internationalization activities.

A One-week event for researchers and academics as well as policy officers in charge of research and knowledge transfer at the partner universities of the University of Granada.

Realizing the potential for collaboration..
The aim of the meeting is to promote the internationalization of research and knowledge transferring together academics and researchers from all over the world. Dr. Sherif Elatriby, the head of academic mobility division and the director of TICO was among the participants. He had an excellent opportunity to meet local research groups and to explore possibilities for opening new paths for collaboration with University of Granada and other participating universities from the EU.

IRO Delegates at Faculty of Applied Arts“A Danish Egyptian DesignExperience Exhibition”...
The Danish Egyptian Dialouge Institute (DEDI) and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Denemark are having this opportunitu to cooperate with Faculty of Applied Arts, Helwan University, on “The Furnture Project”, which Includes the Visit of 20 Danish students (second year master’s level) and a number of their teachers to Egypt, where they will study classical Pharaonic furniture, different materials and techniques used in the making of furniture in Egypt, and the tradition of furniture design in the country.
