17 NEW LIBRARIANS

Seventeen (17) graduates of Bachelor of Library and Information Science and Master in Library and Information Science from the College of Education and Institute of Graduate Studies and Research passed the recent Librarians Licensure Examination given by the PRC Board for Librarians last April 22-23, 2015 at Manuel L. Quezon University, Manila. The new Registered Librarians are the following: Acedillo, Maria Chona M.; Cea, Roselyn P., Dedace, Jonaldo V., Destreza, Arnelle Mari G.; Eubra, Glorie Nichell L.; Garay, Jane L.; Lao, Anna Roxane A.; Labitigan, Marl Angelo M.; Laconsay, Maybelyn O.; Ogana, Michelle A.; Palomado, Yolanda D.; Paral, Allysa Marie T.; Peñaojas, Mary Jesette E.; Porto, Mary May C.; Rivera, Ronnjemmele A.; Verastique, Aubrey Anne Q.; and Villorente, Maria Medea E.

The University got the overall school performance of 73.91% against the National Percentage of 47.07%. Congratulations to the new Registered Librarians!

On May 1, 2015 all library staff went to Palo de Maria Residencia Beach & Resort, Sta. Cruz, Marinduque for the culminating activity of their strategic planning. They have explored the island of Maniwaya and nearby islands. They also visited the famous sand bar of the local community.

Information Literacy Program

EU Library attended the Kuala Lumpur

University Libraries conducted a

Series of Information Literacy Program (ILP)

last June 17-July 3, 2015. Series I composed

of library orientation and a tour and Series II

comprised of bibliographic instruction on how

to use OPAC, reference materials and

e-resources. The Library Information Literacy

Program aim to orient students on the different

services, facilities and collections of the

library. It also aims to strengthen student’s

library skills and equipped them with the

necessary information to become independent

user of the library.

It was facilitated by Ms. Aisa Castro,

Ms. Charlyn Salcedo, Ms. Myrna Macapia and

Mr. Zoren Alcantara.

There are 1,574 out of the 1,855 or

85% freshmen students who participated in

the ILP Series I and there are 1,587 students

with a percentage of 86% attended Series II.

The University Libraries was able to meet more

than the 75% target percentage of freshmen students

who attended the ILP.

Ms. Castro discussed the reference materials as student

listened during the Information Literacy Program Series II.

International Book Fair Manuel S. Enverga University Libraries

attended the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair

last April 27-29, 2015 at Putra World Trade Center,

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The team was composed of Mrs. Charlyn

Salcedo of the University Libraries together with the

representatives of the Library Committee from

different colleges namely Engr. Evangeline

Constantino (CETD), Dr. Divine Glifonea ( CED), Mr.

Rodrigo Belleza (CCS), Mrs. Jennifer Reyes

( CTHRM) and Mr. Jim Acuzar (CBA).

They have selected and purchased books

for their different colleges.

There are 185 books delivered which were

selected from the International Book Fair.

In a separate event, the University Libraries

also conducted a book fair last June 8 - 11, 2015 at

the library seminar hall. This is to give chance to the

other faculty members to select books for their

respective classes.

Dr. Rose Villamater invited several

publishers to join the said event. Mrs. Salcedo together with the rest of the members of the

Library Committee who attended the Kuala Lumpur

International Book Fair at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

I am happy to welcome you all to our University Libraries especially freshmen and

transferees. Let me quote what Mrs. Corazon Nera said in the recently concluded PACUCOA

Accreditation, “ Show me your library and I will tell you what kind of students, faculty and staff you

have in the campus”. She also added that our library is a landmark of excellence of the University.

I take pride to say that Enverga University Libraries has been considered as one of the

biggest in Southern Tagalog and one of the best library nationwide. We have proven ourselves to

be a pioneer of innovations. We take pride of our collections, facilities and services which

considered us one of the best.

This would not happened without the support of our administrators and ofcourse by YOU

my dear students. We need to work hand in hand in maintaining this kind of library. How? By

following our rules and regulations, actively participating in the different activities and maintaining

the cleanliness of our library. I am counting on every Envergans to sustain the pride of our

University.
