Ray White Cottesloe | Mosman Park
Deborah Brady and Jody Fewster, born in the area and living in the local community, are proud to open a new Ray White office in Peppermint Grove in the heart of their local market.
With 23 years real estate experience between them and both bringing to the table impressive business experience and professional acumen, they are a welcome addition to the Ray White family.
They are the same people that the community know and love, and will continue to offer the outstanding service they have become renowned for.
They are looking forward to building their business together … taking their depth of experience and expertise, along with their connectedness to the community and marrying that with the latest technology and support of the Ray White brand.
“It’s never about just one sale … we’re building lifetime relationships,” Jody Fewster
Ray White WA CEO Mark Whiteman welcomed Ms Brady and Ms Fewster to the group.
“We’re so excited to have Deborah and Jody join our family,” Mr Whiteman said.
“They’re fantastic performers and bring a wonderful depth of knowledge and expertise to the table and we look forward to supporting them as they develop their very own business,” Mr Whiteman said.

The group as a whole finished the 2017/18 year with an industry leading 2984 sales for $1.4 billion in sales value. Importantly, this represented a sig-nificant gain in our share of the market, a trend that will continue into the new financial year.
This year was highlighted by many key new recruits, who have all had a signifi-cant impact on our group. Most notably was Vivien Yap bringing her two exist-ing businesses to Ray White in Dalkeith and Claremont. It’s a huge job transi-tioning your business’ brand and then to be awarded the number one Selling Principal and number one Selling Business for Ray White Western Australia is an enormous achievement.
Other wonderful performances were from number one salesperson Coral Howe from Karratha in a very tough market place, along with number one Property Management Business (based on revenue) Ray White Karratha.
On a special note, this years Ross Whiteman Award recipient is Elsie Corby. Elsie commenced with the group in 2007, her successful career has seen her named number one selling principal for the group on six occasions along with numerous other outstanding awards. Opening her own franchise in 2015 and expanding last year into an addition office. The depth of what Elise has brought to our group can not be overstated.
There are so many wonderful performances that we cannot mention them all in this limited space, suffice to say we are very proud of all our members and we truly believe that The Best is Yet to Come.
Best wishes,
Mark Whiteman Chief Executive Officer Ray White Western Australia

In a year when the industry recorded its lowest turn over result for two decades Ray White’s Western Australian members defied the trend to post some amazing results.

“When I say ‘skimp-meets-splurge’ what I mean is a balance between cheaper decor items (the skimp), and pricier investment pieces (the splurge). For example, I encourage my clients to put their money into larger furniture finds like sofas, beds, mattresses and dining chairs. Pretty much any-thing their butt is going to touch, gets invested in (comfort is important, right?!). Rugs are often part of this splurge category too. The feet need to nestle on something plush, after all.
On top of those splurge pieces of furniture, I like to drizzle more affordable, approachable decor. Some-thing in me (call it a humble upbringing) just can’t cope with specifying a $150 cushion for a client, or asking them to spend thousands on a vase. These smaller pieces in a home I consider quite transi-tional; you’re likely to replace and update them as time goes on. So I like to shop at all the stores you know and love for these little gems – pairing them with your prized possessions and family memen-toes to create a space that feels designer, but yours!
Of course, some clients want me to go gangbusters on decor (and I can do it). But in a recent project, the focus was on putting money toward larger items my clients would keep forever. And below I want to share some of the results with you.
A Scandi vibe, with a dash of colourWhen I first met with my clients, the brief was to deliver a Scandi vibe. The Pinterest board they had curated (I love it when clients have these boards) was super Nordic. Think white and black and grey. The feel was more on the minimal side. They were keen to have texture in the home but not loads of it, and the timbers were quite light.
Of course, I like to push my clients a little. I had to put my own stamp on this home and that stamp came in the way of introducing some colour. The reason for this, as you’ll see, was the red timber flooring the client’s new home sported. Not ideal for a Scandi vibe, as I’m sure you’ll agree. But that’s what being an interior designer is all about; creat-ing magic on the blank canvas that’s been presented to you (I know that sounds super wanky, but it’s true).
A darker man cave was also on the agendaI was so excited that my clients wanted a man cave at the front of the home. There were three living areas in this property overall, and the front room was to be a bit of a chic pool room/home cinema. Something that felt designer and sophisticated, but harder and more masculine. So we stuck with the black-white-grey Scandi vibe, but focussed on chunkier pieces of furniture.
Thankfully my clients let me go in a darker direc-tion in this space. We painted the feature wall behind the TV black (one of many great ways to conceal a TV set). The room was already a tad on the dark side with not a lot of light coming in the front windows, so why fight it? We made this space moody and cosy, and I was so happy with the result.
I also installed some blonde timber pendants in one corner to pop against the dark backdrop (thanks Beacon Lighting) and I love the first impression they give you when you walk in the front door.
Most of the base pieces in this space were invested in. The sofa and the armchair and the rug and cof-fee tables were from Globewest. The smaller decor items are from places like Adairs, Kmart, Freedom and IKEA. There were some cool items (like the dog statue) that belonged to the client already and I love him sitting in the corner of the room. I need to give him a name. Maybe Ferguson.
The formal sitting room is probably my fave spaceThe clients are into music and both quite talented at it. One half plays the piano, the other half the sax and guitar. So we had to create a space where they could sit and have friends over, with all of their musical instruments nearby. So I decided to turn the room at the back of the property into a more formal sitting room.
Two structured sofas face one another here with a glass coffee table in the middle. The artworks are also a standout in this space for me. One in particular (from Urban Road) is super moody and really set the tone for the room.
On the coffee table, I once again went with my usual skimp-meets-splurge approach. Decor items here are from Kmart, Adairs and Freedom. Some of the cushions are from IKEA too (always with feather inserts, of course, which is just one of my many cushion rules).
Yep, I included fake plants and I’m not even sorry! You know me; I love a fake plant and I’m 100% not even sorry about it. I included a few in my cli-ent’s home. I’m sure many interior designers will probably turn their nose up at this, but I’m so into a fakie.
I think the best part about working as a designer (or decorator, or stylist, or whatever you want to call us) is the client’s feedback at the end of the pro-ject. My clients were so delighted. They said they were now living in their dream home. They said it was so nice to come home at night, pour a wine, and admire their new surroundings. Even friends had come over and asked for my details.
That is truly the best part of the entire experience. This is honestly life-changing stuff, people. Again, that sounds wanky, but it’s honestly true and the part I love most about my job.
If you’re looking for an interior designer to help you make your space amazing, you now know my deets!

Happy decorating and thanks for reading!

Spring Styling THE NEW BOHEMIANThis is a warm version of the minimalist trend we’ve been seeing for a while now. With our fast-paced lives, many of us would like to create a sanctuary of calm at home.
TONY PARKER'Claremont' Fabric Armchair$2,995.00
Texture is all-important here. Raw woods sit beautifully beside crumply linens. Fabrics are handwoven and cushions are made from natural fibres. There’s an emphasis on natural piec-es, decorative items with organic shapes and, for furniture, rich woven leathers.
The palette is very soft and gentle colours sit between pale grey and the tones of warm oak. Add just one or two highlight colours to inject personality into the space – don’t play it too safe.
Styling is minimal yet functional. In the bedroom, layer up your linens; white and grey work well together. Natural elements such as dried flowers and plants bring life to the setting. Furniture and homewares are high quality and considered; it’s about buying less but buying better.

Cottesloe is one of the most picturesque and famed beaches in the world to swim but it also has an eclectic and vibrant architecture ranging from modest apartments to palatial mansions and it has
some little known interesting historical facts.
Named “Cottesloe” on 21 Sept 1886 by Sir Frederick Napier Broome (who was WA’s Governor from 1883 to 1890), the name Cottesloe was chosen in honour of the brother of Captain Fremantle who later became Baron Cottesloe in 1874. Few people may be aware that one of Australia’s most significant women lived amongst these sunny streets. Most people will recognise her face, if not
her name, as she features on the $50 note.
According to a local historian, Edith D Cowan chose Cottesloe is 1896, selecting to be near the hub of activities happening in the area and wanting to enjoy a “rural atmosphere” at the same time.
The Town of Cottesloe has some great events upcoming to take note of; North Cottesloe Surf Lifesaving Club is celebrating 100 years of service in October 2018, Historic Cottesloe Civic Centre will host Carols by Candlelight on Sat 15th Dec 2018 at 7pm, and in early 2019 the world
famous Sculptures by the Sea exhibition will be held on Cottesloe Beach.
