LEAVIT' 'S Improved Portable mill and Corn snd oob nrusher. if~ H valuable improvement in Portable Mill, . adapted to the various Grinding and Crushing purposes ofa Farm, which are lnow required, at Sfound so profitable in the improved modes of feeding stock. It is the invention of Mr CHaRLEs Lxsvrr, of Quincy, Ill., who obtained a Patent thereon, is July, 1852. This Mill differs from those of ordinary construe. tion, in having the relative position of the grinding surface reversed; that is. the external hollow caos or concave grinder is made to revolve on the inner e or convex cone, which is itself stationary, and ms formed with an internal cavity, that it may berea. dily and securely fixed c• a post, or any tree stump which 4y stand convln!i:nt, rnd thus all exterior framing, as well as shafts or spindles are entirely dispensed with; and the lever to which' the here are connected for giving the motion to the Mill, is attached directly to the concave. The adjusting apparatus is also simple and ,fer. tual, and as worked from above without interfering with the operation of the Mill. By it the Millis made capable of application to a vast range of par. poses, as well as being made to grind coarse or• se, as desired. Among the uses to which this M.ilis adptdaed are the following: Shelling corn, grinding or crushing corn and cob together, grinading mes from corn and other grains. oob nrusher.if~ H valuable improvement in Portable Mill,

. adapted to the various Grinding and Crushingpurposes ofa Farm, which are lnow required, at

Sfound so profitable in the improved modes of feedingstock. It is the invention of Mr CHaRLEs Lxsvrr,of Quincy, Ill., who obtained a Patent thereon, isJuly, 1852.

This Mill differs from those of ordinary construe.tion, in having the relative position of the grindingsurface reversed; that is. the external hollow caosor concave grinder is made to revolve on the innere or convex cone, which is itself stationary, and msformed with an internal cavity, that it may berea.dily and securely fixed c• a post, or any tree stumpwhich 4y stand convln!i:nt, rnd thus all exteriorframing, as well as shafts or spindles are entirelydispensed with; and the lever to which' the hereare connected for giving the motion to the Mill, isattached directly to the concave.

The adjusting apparatus is also simple and ,fer.tual, and as worked from above without interferingwith the operation of the Mill. By it the Millismade capable of application to a vast range of par.poses, as well as being made to grind coarse or• se,as desired. Among the uses to which this M.ilisadptdaed are the following: Shelling corn, grindingor crushing corn and cob together, grinading mesfrom corn and other grains.Thii formof Mill is so simple in its conetructies

and so few in its parts, that it can be furnisahd atvery low price, whe,, ne vaiie of the services aperforms is conside ,1, and for the :.arne reasons itis durable and unlikey; to get out of repair

It is a well known :act amonig Scientific Farm.era, that one bushel of corn groand. i~ worth two inthe ear, to feed hogs or cattle, and will fatten eitherin one-third less time.

l17'Thi Mill has but lately been introduced in.to the State of Louisiana, where it has nme t iththe most ready sale among Planters and the keepersof Livery Stables, wherever it has been seen. 'heandetllgned has become the sole owner of the Pa.tent lght ofthe above described Mill, for the Pat.isbes of St. Landry, Avoyellea, West k'eiicanca,Pointp Coupee and Iberville; And he oalers themfor Mile, and will deliver them to the citizens ofth
