WARNING: Be advised that sliding into a

baseball/softball base represents a clear and present

danger. Injury may occur. All Players should be

informed of the risks inherent in this sport activity

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU

FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS

FROM HOME PLATE:

Mark out baselines for first and third base, (Use a heavy cord and wood stakes to indicate baselines. Measure the required distance from home plate to the first base position and third base position. Mark with a wood stake. Finally mark out the second base position using the first and third base markers and the correct measurement from home plate.

The in-ground fixtures must be installed 2” (minimum) below grade. The centre of the square hole must be 7 ½” from the base line for the first & third base and directly centre for second base. The double in-ground is to be installed so that the centre of one square hole is 7 ½” outside the base line and the other square hole 7 ½” inside the baseline. NOTE: The double socket can also be used to accept a single base.

Dig holes approximately 15” deep. Level bottoms of hole by adding 5” of sand or gravel. Lay fixture into hole and square with the baselines and at the correct position. Use a small level to adjust fixture so that it is level, plumb and parallel with the base lines. This is very important or the bases will not sit square with the field alignment.

INGROUND FIXTURE MUST BE INSTALLED AT LEAST 2” BELOW GRADE

Fill holes with heavy, solid earth. Install Plugs before covering fixture. Let Installation settle for 48 hours and then top off the area and level. It is very important to keep the base areas level at all times. The magnetic fixture must always sit flat on the ground. The plugs should be installed below the surface to allow dragging and levelling operations. This will also discourage vandals from finding and removing the plugs.

When using the magnetic base system (MAGBASE), the in-ground fixtures do not have to be installed with a cement mixture, and can simply use dirt or gravel filler. However if you use our in-ground fixture without the magnetic safety release feature, and use only the socket post system (SUPERBASE w/ POST), it may be necessary to cement the fixtures into the ground.

The Fixtures must be checked before each season to make sure they are level, plumb and parallel to the base lines.

A special cleaning tool is supplied with each in-ground fixture purchase. This will enable the operator to keep the sockets free from stone, dust, gravel or earth. The plugs (Supplied) must always be inserted after the base and magnetic fixture is removed.

ASSEMBLY OF MAGNETIC FIXTURE

SELECT FOR EACH MAGNETIC FIXTURE:

4-1/4" x 7/8" Socket Head Cap Screws

4-1/4" Nuts

1-Allen wrench

1-Magnetic fixture (See Picture)

1-4" square top post with six holes

1. Align socket post over the four holes located on the bottom of the Magnetic Fixture. 2. Insert four ¼” x 7/8” Socket Head Cap Screws from the top through the fixture and the socket

post. 3. Make sure the head of the socket screw is positioned below the magnetic surface. 4. Install 4 hex nuts and tighten with Allen wrench. Repeat this procedure for other magnetic

fixtures.

INSTALLATION OF SHEAR PLATES

The purpose of the magnetic fixture is to allow the base to absorb the impact of a sliding player by moving. This is accomplished when the base is hit with a lateral force. The shear force is controlled by the size of the galvanized steel plate that is fixed to the bottom of the base.

PLEASE LOCATE 3 DIFFERENT SIZES

OF GALVANIZED STEEL PLATES:

6” x 4” Rectangular Plate 200 Lbs. of Applied Force

4” x 4” Square Plate 120 Lbs. of Applied Force

4” x 2” Rectangular Plate 90 Lbs. of Applied Force

IMPORTANT (READ CAREFULLY)

BEFORE ATTACHING THE SHEAR PLATE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SUPER BASE (WITH CONCAVE BOTTOM) MAKE THE FOLLOWING SELECTION:

The 6" x 4" Rectangular Shear Force Plate should be used for all adult ladies' or men's recreational leagues.

The 4" Square Shear Force Plate should be used for children over 100 lbs. body weight (average weight).

The 4" x 2" Rectangular Shear Force Plate should only be used for children under 100 Ibs. Average body weight.

INSTRUCTIONS

Select:

2-1/4" x 1/2" Flat Head Cap Screws

1-Allen wrench A

Align selected galvanized shear plate over bottom of Super Base exposed coupling nuts. Make sure countersunk holes are facing outward so that the flat head socket screw will seat below the flat surface. It is very important that the head of the Cap Screw is not interfering with the contact between the shear plate and the magnetic fixture. Tighten with Allen wrench. Lower magnetic fixture into concave bottom of Super Base until magnetic contact is made. Make sure the fixture is square with the Super Base. Finally, Remove the in-ground fixture plug and insert Super Base and Magnetic Fixture into position. The Magnetic Release feature is only used at Second and Third positions.

TO REMOVE THE SUPER BASE FROM THE MAGNETIC FIXTURE:

1. Do not leave Magnetic Fixture fixed to the base when not in use. This is extremely important. Failure to follow this procedure will void warranty.

2. Do not pull the Base and Fixture directly apart. The Base must be sheared off the fixture. Pulling directly away from the strong magnetic surface could damage the internal structure of the Super Base and void the warranty.

3. Install a 2" (Ld.) x 12" length of pipe onto a fence post or bleacher upright. Drop the Super Base and Magnetic Fixture into the 2" pipe and grasp the base and slide the base off the fixture.

4. When the Super Base moves under the impact of a sliding player, the Magnetic Fixture must be lifted out of the socket and brushed (either by hand or with a whisk) to remove loose sand or gravel before placing the Magnetic Fixture back into position. If this is not properly administered, the magnetic contact can be disrupted.
