Bella Swan and Edward Cullen were in love at first sight. Throughout the Twilight series fans were crying tears of happiness and sadness. The concept of Edward, the vampire, loving an innocent girl and being

loved in return captivated readers. But when Jacob Black, Bellaʼs best friend and

werewolf, fell in love with her, readers were taken to a whole new level. Eclipse, the book before Breaking Dawn, left readers

hanging with Bella agreeing to marry Edward, but they have to tell her father Charlie. Breaking Dawn immediately

follows the events that occurred in the previous book. In this book, Isabella Swan and Edward Cullen finally get married, the

moment Twihard-fans were waiting for. The wedding was simply beautiful, everybody

was in awe. Then they depart for their honeymoon, like any normal couple would. However, the destination was a surprise to

Bella, so she was star struck when they arrived at Island Esme. Esme is Edwardʼs mother, so Bella was especially excited. This moment, in Breaking Dawn is what

everybody was anticipating. On this honeymoon, it was filled with pure

romance and nothing else. Bellaʼs thoughts of Jake being hurt vanished, for she was pre-occupied spending the best moments

of her life with Edward. However, that all comes to an end when Bella finds out she

is pregnant with a baby. They thought Vampireʼs couldnʼt have babies, but since

she is still human it is possible and the baby could be normal or vampire like.

Immediately medical attention is needed by Carlisle, Edwardʼs dad. Bella refuses to remove the baby out of her stomach, for she already is guessing the gender and coming up with baby names. However, Edward is completely stressed with the

thought that this baby could take Bella, the love of his life. This battle continues, and Jacob is involved. He has left his pack to

protect Bella from the rest of the werewolves, because he is still in love with her even after all the suffering. Eventually the time has come to have the baby, but

Bella is not strong enough and right before she takes her last breaths after seeing her

baby girl, Renesmee, for a split second, Edward bites her and sends venom flying through her system, hoping to change her into a vampire. Now, the rest of the story you have to unravel reading the book. I

highly suggest Breaking Dawn as a book, but also the Twilight Series as a whole.

Also, I suggest that you donʼt read Breaking Dawn if you have not read the

other books because all of them tie together. Breaking Dawn is a very well

written book that can keep you entertained and wanting to read more.

OCIS GOVERNMENT

2011- 2012: A Year to Remember. This year, for the first year in our school’s history, seventh grade students were permitted to run for Student Council positions. Candidates Britney, Sophia, Emma, Julia, Emily, and Madison had created posters, hand made handouts, and used internet sources such as Facebook to enhance their chance of winning the three golden titles. With close ties, Britney won President, Emma won Vice President, and Madison won Secretary. Congratulations!

Black History Month is observed in the month of February in the United States and Canada, but it is celebrated during the month of October in the United Kingdom. No matter when or where you celebrate Black History Month, the point is to educate people about African Americans cultural backgrounds and achievements throughout their lives. It

was created by historian Carter G. Woodson, to promote awareness of African American history to the general public. Now, it is taught to thousands of students each year and can be found in any American History textbook.

The OCIS Sport Teams

Our Ocean City Intermediate School’s winter sports have been working diligently for the past few months, to support their team and perfect their skills. Now is the time to reflect back on how all of their hard-work and effort paid off...

To the right is the girls basketball team, the ones who gave it their all while on the court. After losing a large number of excellent eighth graders from last year, the team was set back; but only slightly. They had an addition to the team; Jacklyn, a transfer from Saint Joe’s. There was also plenty of eighth graders to replace the old; Fayelyn, Jacklyn, Kelsey, Braedyn, Julia, and Caroline. Among these girls, Julia, Caroline and Braedyn were the captains. The player with the most amount of points was Braedyn! Congratulations girls on doing your best this season!

The boy’s wrestling team really had a great season this year. With the eighth grade captains, Jake T., Dustin O., John O. and John W. leading the team to many personal victories. The highest personal record on the team was Jake T., in third, with nine wins and three loses, Sage N., in second, with nine wins and one loss, and then Cameron A., in an outstanding first place, with ten wins and no losses. Mr. Parker would like to congratulate all of his hard-working eighth graders that will be leaving him; Jake T., Dustin O., Jared J., John O., David L., Kyle S., and John W. Nice work, guys!

The gentlemen to the right are our very own OCIS boys basketball team, who truthfully gave it their all this season. The captains for this season were Garrett J. and Declan M. The player with the most three pointers was Luciano L. Also, the two players with the highest personal point scored were Declan M. and Garrett J. The manager for the team was Cole V. These boys gave their all and kept their heads in the game against very good opponents.

Adding pep and cheer to our sporting events...the OCIS outstanding cheerleading squad!
