THE BIG 3Whether you’ve been attending Faith Church for a long time or you are a first time

visitor, THE PAPER is here to help! Being a part of this church family is a partnership in growth, so we encourage you to

be involved in 3 ways:

WORSHIP ON THE WEEKENDSGather with others to listen to a message from God’s Word, sing, pray and lift up

the name of Jesus. Attend a service at one of our campuses. Faith Kids (infant-5th grade) is a safe place where kids can worship Jesus at their level. Don’t miss the

opportunity to gather with others and worship each week. Invite a friend.

CONNECT IN COMMUNITY

Being a follower of Jesus was never meant to be done alone. Sole-ranger Christianity usually means discouragement and failure. God has provided a

better way-Biblical community. Community keeps us encouraged, helps us build meaningful friendships, and most importantly, helps us grow as Christians. This may

be through a Mini-Church, Bible study or Serving Team. No matter what your age, God does not intend for you to walk through life alone. Be real. Be known.

SERVE OTHERSJoin a weekend Serving Team at one of our campuses, serve in your neighborhood or around the world! God has gifted each of us to do something special. Discover

the joy of serving.

What is the purpose of marriage? How do we make marriage all that God has intended it to be? How can Faith Church help marriages start off healthy and grow stronger in the most effective way?

Faith Church began asking these questions about 15 years ago when they saw the need to invest more into the marriages at Faith Church. God has grown the marriage ministry at Faith Church to Prepare couples for marriage, Enrich their marriages, and with God’s help, Repair marriages into wholeness once again.

The hope and desire of Faith Church is that every couple would know the Lord and Savior and stand on His solid rock—for He is to build their marriage. Stronger marriages are the foundation that builds stronger families, stronger churches, and stronger communities, which enables us to be more of a light to the world around us.

Faith has recognized that as they grow in numbers and multi-sites, they need to

structure their marriage ministry in a way that can be reproducible and accessible to the Faith family and the communities around them. A year ago, Faith Church began to look at how they could change and expand the idea of a marriage ministry. God led Faith to ONE Marriage, a creative way to serve couples on a consistent basis.

ONE Marriage is a ministry which covers all areas including: Prepare, Enrich and Repair. Every Monday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Faith Church Dyer campus, couples can gather and be intentional about focusing on what God has created for marriage. The best part is…couples can just show up! They can be intentional about their marriage and get involved at whatever level they desire. Childcare is provided.

This ministry is a connec-tion point for couples. It provides community and accountability. Should they need more than this night, the ONE Marriage ministry

will help discern what di-rection is best. Even if they find themselves in a crisis, The Ravines Retreat Center is a great place of hope and healing. ONE Marriage ministry also has options of care through the Faith Church Care Team.

Faith Church’s path in grow-ing marriage is gospel driv-en. If God is first, spouse second and family third—then we are stepping in the direction God has intended for our lives.

So now it’s up to you. Will you be intentional and proactive in building a strong and healthy marriage? Don’t wait until you have to, if you find yourself in a place of need, don’t give up. God can do anything if we put our trust and hope in Him.

Faith Church is for your marriage. Our heart and prayer is that you will thrive in your relationships, not just survive. We look forward to serving you—and with you—as we build strong marriages together!

Many years ago, Pastor Bob had a vision to address the difficult reality of couples in great need of restoration and renewal in their strug-gling marriage. He often saw the overwhelm-ing brokenness and desperation.

God’s answer to that prayer and vision became “The Ravines Retreat Center.” The Ravines offers a better solution to help bring hope to couples and their marriage, using the gifts of trained counselors and the life-giving power of Jesus Christ.

The Ravines Retreat Center is a safe place where Christian couples can experience heal-ing, strengthening and restoration for their marriage through Christ-centered intensive therapy. The need to help couples is immense. In 2014 alone, over 275 individuals contact-ed The Ravines seeking help and healing for their marriage. From that first phone call, you can sense how God starts to give each couple grace and peace once they make the decision to come.

When a couple comes to The Ravines, they spend several days away from their normal routine and distractions of their lives to focus on their marriage. They need this un-inter-rupted time. They come because their mar-riage can’t afford to wait. Even waiting from week-to-week to meet with a pastor, mentor, or counselor is too long. They are desperate to be cared for and guided in a greater way. While they are there, a counselor works with them for several hours each day. A volunteer host couple is there to take care of them, prepare meals and make sure all of their needs are met.

The Ravines has been established as a self-sus-taining ministry and is available to any couple, from any church, anywhere. To date, approx-imately 90% of the couples who have attended The Ravines have indicated that it has made a difference in their marriage. They have found hope when they thought all hope was gone.

In the past 6 years, over 150 couples have attended. Couples have come from countless different churches, from 20 different states and 2 countries. Last year, over 40% of The Ravines couples used scholarship support. Donations to The Ravines scholarship funding continues to be a blessing, which makes it possible for couples to attend. Another incredible part of The Ravines ministry is the volunteers—there are over 40 volunteers that serve in various capacities: host couples, grocery shoppers, facility maintenance, gift bag assembly, office help, airport transportation, landscape beautifica- tion, and so much more.

The Ravines continues to need financial support, volunteers and most importantly, prayer. We probably have all witnessed the effect that a broken marriage has on family, friends, fellow workers, and our church com-munity. So the work that The Ravines does through the power of Jesus goes much further than one couple, and one home. When God builds stronger marriages, we see stronger families, stronger churches, and stronger communities.

For more information about The Ravines you can visit our website at www.theravines.org, call the office @ 219.864.5063, or email [email protected].

Over the course of eight weeks, we’ll dive into this One Big Story digging into universal themes that span the Bible’s 66 books and thousands of years. Come and

WHO ARE RICH & NANCY PIERCE?Q. Where are you from?A. We were both born, raised and also met each other in Gary, Indiana. Currently, we live in Crown Point.

Q. How did you first get connected to Faith Church?A. I was a Project Director for the steel erection company on Faith Church during the first building phase in 2002. After completion, we had a friend who would vis-it Faith. I would ask him about what was happening there, and he would comment that there was something sweet and powerful happening. In the fall of 2003 we started attending and by summer of 2004 we joined.

From that time to the present, there isn’t enough space in this article to describe the work God has done. Every ministry seems to be on steroids. But you know, it just the power of God and faithful servants believing and supporting the vision of Faith Church.

The worship at Faith Church over-flows with humility, excellence, and faithfulness. Our hats go off to the dedicated worship teams at all the campuses.

Q. How do you connect with others at your campus?A. Nancy and I started serving in Treasureland registration, work-ing the sign-in kiosk on Sunday mornings. We also worked with the kitchen team on Wednesday evenings. Through both of these ministries, we started meeting people. Shortly after coming to Faith, we joined a Mini-Church, and today we lead one. Just over a year ago, we went on our first out-of-country mission trip to Haiti. We could write pages on the great experience we had there. The re-lationships we have made through these ministries continue today.

Our heart throb connection to Faith is the Marriage Ministry. We have been involved for over eight years. We started with pre-marriage cou-ples, then moved to repair mar-riage, and are now helping launch

Faith’s new “One Marriage” on Monday nights. We are very excit-ed about the new launch because it will be able to offer all couples an opportunity to connect in some way to meet and help them grow their marriages.

Q. What have you seen God do in your life?A. We feel so humble that God took two messed up people and, by His power, changed our lives and enabled us with opportunities to serve in His Church. We are far from perfect, but we find Faith Church to be a perfect place for us to connect, grow, have account-ability, and experience God’s work. We have also made friends with some of the greatest people.

We are very grateful for Faith Church and pray that many others will be able to experience the blessings we have at Faith.
