MARCH 1, 2020

Dear Friends,

What are you doing for Lent? Maybe that’s not the best way to put it. Maybe we should ask: What will Lent do for you?

Lent is an opportunity to let God in…to let the Lenten practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving disrupt our old routines

and bad habits—of sin, of selfishness, of wasting time—as we start new habits of goodness, of service, of selfgiving, of

time lived with a new purpose. Lent has the power to change us, to draw us closer to Jesus and to one another. Lent can

give us a new perspective.

So, take this opportunity. This Lent, let the Lord speak to your heart! Start some new spiritual practices this Lent—make

a daily sacrifice for the poor; read a passage of the Bible each day or read the section from the “Little Books” each day;

take part in the “Catholicism series” which we will begin this Lent; join the Bible study offered by John Cleary; pray the Ro-

sary; find some extra time for silence in your day so you can listen to God; make time for an extra Mass during the week;

do something extra for someone you know is in need; visit someone who is sick; invite someone to church with you. Pray

for the Catechumens around the world preparing for their Sacraments at Easter; pray for our parish young people prepa-

ring for Confirmation and First Communion this year, and for their families.

We enter the desert with Jesus today—we enter this season so that we may grow stronger in faith. We enter the desert,

not to stay in the desert, but to make our way to the promised land!

Peace and blessings,

Fr. Tom

Queridos amigos,

Paz y bendiciones,

Padre Tom

After consultation with our parish finance committee, we are providing a three year review of

our income and expenses. It would be important to note that we are running at a net operating deficit

for several years. However, through the generosity of your contributions through Generations of Faith

as well as several major bequests we received in the last two years, we show a net surplus. After re-

viewing this, if you have any questions, please just ask. -Fr. Tom
