Skeletal System

Page 3: The parts of each system in the human body

Parts of the Skeletal System• The skeletal system has individual

bones that are connected with ligaments, and tendons, muscles and cartilage, it’s like a scaffold which protects important organs.

• They take up 30%-40% of your body weight.

• There are 206 bones on the human body, and a newborn has about 300 bones.

• In the skull, the part that protects and keeps your brain intact is the cranium, and the bone that moves the jaw is the mandible.

• Your neck bones are the cervical and the thoracic vertebrae.

• The ribs protect the lungs and the heart.

• The biggest bone in the human body is the femur in the thigh, and the smallest is the stapes in the middle ear.

Digestive System

Page 5: The parts of each system in the human body

Parts of the Digestive System• The digestive system has a series of organs

and glands that processes food.• Your mouth starts the process, and it happens

before you take your first bite.• The organs process the food into smaller

molecules, so that it can process.• The part of the body that’s breaks the food

down into smaller pieces is the mouth, and when you swallow it, it goes down your esophagus.

• the digestive system consists of a alimentary gland that goes from your mouth to your rectum. The liver is located above the stomach, the second largest organ.

• The stomach lies between the esophagus, and the small intestine.

• The pancreas is about six inches, and it is located behind the stomach.

• The small intestine is 6-7 meters long, and is located between the stomach, and the large intestine.

• The large intestine is 1.5 meters, and it goes all the way down to your anus.

Muscular System

Page 7: The parts of each system in the human body

Parts of the Muscular System• There are over 600 muscles in the human

body, and they are in different shapes.• There are three different types of muscles,

and they are skeletal muscles, heart or cardiac muscles, and smooth muscles.

• Muscles provide strength, balance, posture, movement, and heat for the body to keep warm.

• There is a very important muscle that sends messages from the brain to the muscle fibers is called Acetylcholine.

• Muscles tend to cramp, meaning long period of muscle spasm.

• The face itself has 30 muscles. The tongue is a free muscle, because only one of the ends is attached, and it has multiple muscles, that help you chew, swallow and talk.

• Your abs are muscles called abdominal external oblique.

• The muscles in your rectum are called gluteus maximus.

Lymphatic System

Page 9: The parts of each system in the human body

Parts of the Lymphatic System• The lymphatic system is part of the

immune system that has a series of lymphatic vessels that carry a fluid called lymph, through the heart.

• The part on the side on your neck are called tonsils.

• A lymph node is located everywhere in the human body.

• There is a organ by the upper abdominal vertebrae called the Cisternae Chyli.

• There is another called the thymus located behind and in front of the heart. It plays a important role by functioning your immune system.

• The spleen is a secondary lymphoid organ, and it is located behind the stomach, on the left side of the body.

Nervous System

Page 11: The parts of each system in the human body

Parts of the Nervous System• The nervous system is a organ system

containing a network of specialized cells called neurons.

• They transmit signals throughout the body.• The main organs of the nervous system are

the spinal cord, and the brain., and if any one of the organs are damaged, they cause paralysis, memory loss, loss of motor skills, difficulty speaking.

• The brain is one of the most important organs in the human body, and it is the center of all commands.

• The spinal cord is a bundle of nerves that run down the back from the brain in the spinal column.

• There are five sensory organs in the body.• The eyes help you see, the tongue helps

you taste, the nose lets you know different smells, and the hears help you hear, and the sound waves turn into vibrations.

Endocrine System

Page 13: The parts of each system in the human body

Parts of the Endocrine System• The endocrine system is a system of

glands.• It has a type of hormone that regulates

the temperature in the body.• The endocrine system is like the nervous

system.• They regulate many functions as a

organism, and they create growth and development, mood changes, and metabolism.

• The glands produce hormones, and some typical glands like the adrenal gland, pituitary gland, the thyroid gland.

• Some exocrine glands are salivary glands, and sweat glands.

• Some endocrine organs like the liver and the kidneys, and the kidney produce a endocrine hormone called renin.

• Renin is a hormone that regulates people’s blood pressure.

Reproductive System

Page 15: The parts of each system in the human body

Parts of the Reproductive System

• The reproductive system, also called a genital system, is a system of organs within an organism that work together to do the process of reproduction.

• The male reproductive system has two main parts to the system.

• The penis is used in intercourse and it’s connected to the wall of the abdomen.

• The testicles are oval organs that lie in the scrotum, and most men have two testes.

• The female reproductive system have external organs and some are called labia majora, and Barttholin’s glands.

• Some external organs are ovaries that are located on either sides of the uterus.

• Fallopian tubes are narrow tubes that are attached to the upper part of the uterus that serve as tunnels for the egg cells to travel from the ovaries to the uterus.

Urinary System

Page 17: The parts of each system in the human body

Parts of the Urinary System• The urinary system , also called the

excretory system is the organ system that produces, stores, and eliminates urine.

• In humans it includes two kidneys, two ureters, the bladder, the urethra, and two sphincter muscles.

• The kidneys are bean-shaped organs that lie in the abdomen, and under the ribcage, close to the lumbar spine.

• The bladder collects the urine after it goes through the kidneys, and then during urination, it goes through the urethra.

• The urethra connects to the urinary bladder, and it disposes the urine.

• There are over 50 sphincter muscles in the body.

• They help with the entrance and/or release of liquids.
