the perfect body
DESCRIPTION
We all face some kind of self body image issues.TRANSCRIPT
Introduction
Body image issue is how someone sees themselves when they look in the mirror or
even when they picture themselves in their mind. Body image issue is also what
you believe about your own appearance, also how you feel about your body, which
is your height, your body shape, weight and even skin color. A body image issue is
also how we feel about our own body. Sometimes body image is negatively
impacted by one or more significant situations. For instance, the media is one
cause of many women and men having body image issue. Some ways that the
media is involved is by, using thin models with perfect hair, skin, tan, and body.
When images like this are posted all around one tends to think that maybe that is
the way a person should look. This then causes people to start judging their
appearance that then leads them to losing weight to enhance their appearance, and
make them feel better about themselves and their bodies. That is when the
restrictive eating and over exercising comes in then comes the different eating
disordered and weight obsession that develops into anorexia, bulimia, orthorexia,
and compulsive overeating or binge eating disorder. Which is considered self-harm
then there is the other ways of changing their look like plastic surgery and using
different chemicals to change hair or even skin color. That is why it is important to
love ourselves, if looking like the post models is what you want there other ways
of changing your self-image which is diet and exercise. Media has to take the role
to advice teens; women and man that we do not need to have the same look as
everyone. We should love ourselves just the way we are, because that is what
makes us different from one another.
The idea that I went with for my photo essay was self-body image issues. I choose to stage the
girls in different angles and do different things because the way I posed them shows what
everyone sometimes feel or see themselves. I also decided to pose them in front of the mirror
because I did not want to show the girls faces to much because I wanted to make it seem like it
was I or anyone who is reading it or looking at the picture can see their own refection. I chose to
portray these issues because many women and men feel so kind of way about their body and by
me angling, taking the picture from behind and portraying them in different scenario helps the
person see that they do have an issue with their body and how to correct it the right way. There is
no need to self-harm ourselves when we can correct our issues in the correct matter. The picture
with the young lady vomiting is showing us that how wrong it is to try to lose weight by sticking
our finger down our throats, when we could just eat healthier and exercise. It also show how bad
it looks when we our doing that even in public places. Since these were some of the topics that
the girls had issues with I decided to do my picture based on that. I used the same girls that
talked about these issues with me, to create my photo essay. I used my iPhone to take the photos
because I am able to alter the picture, I can crop out things I did not want in the photo. I could
also add different filters to change the pictures mood, and also because it is easier to manipulate
the photos by using different angles. The reason I chose these images is because I wanted the
audience to see themselves. By taking the picture from behind with the girl’s image shown in the
mirror help to show everyone what they see when they see them self from a different angles.
That is why I chose to take the picture at the angle I did because you’re not seeing the young
lady looking at herself, you see yourself through someone else eyes. I found that it is important
to angle the picture the way I did because we tend to think that we do not have body image
issue, but when we see the a image that looks like how we feel. We come to notice our flaws.
Each photo shows what we has humans face when we look at ourselves, for instances many of us
face problems with our weight so we try to fix it by harming ourselves. Another thing that we
face hates our skin color and there is some people that hate that they are too skinny so they try to
change it by over eating. Each photo falls into place because it is in different steps that people
start disliking their image one day is their color another day their weight is like a roller coaster
ride with our body image.
I chose this image because it shows us that we all
at some point see our self in this image. We all
have something that we do not like about
ourselves. Sometimes when we see another
person on an image show their flaws then we
recognizes ours. I find that this image shows or
represent that no one is perfect we all have body
image issues, let it be our size, color, or height
that is always something we do not like about
ourselves. But we need to understand that there
are right ways to change that issue without self-harming ourselves. I feel that this picture is a
portrait seen as a depth of field which is something that as a great impact on the picture. By
showing or taking this photo is to show the feeling in her face about how she feels about her
body shows us the different emotion we all face when we look at ourselves in the mirror. I feel
that this photo portraits a lot of emotions and feels on how people see themselves in front of a
group of people and how they see themselves when they are alone. The reason why I say that is
because the way I took the picture from behind, so I do not see the young lady they would see
themselves because this is how they see themselves when they look at the mirror. When I look at
this picture I do not see the girl I see myself and how I feel about my love handles and how
upsetting it makes me feel when I look at myself when I wear a certain outfit.
