Situated in the fashionable district of Clifton, we offer excellent facilities along with fabulous views.

All our event rooms enjoy a spectacular panorama of the Avon Gorge and Brunel’s famous

Suspension Bridge.

Every wedding is special to us, and therefore each ceremony and reception is tailored to meet each

couple’s individual needs. We have included a selection of packages to help you plan your special

day, simply pick the one that is right for you, and personalize your choice with the alternative menus

and beverages available.

We understand that the venue you choose to hold your wedding celebration is of the utmost

importance to you, and we would therefore be delighted to meet you and show you around the

hotel. This way you can view the excellent facilities on offer, and also discuss any queries you may

have.

The Ceremony We are licensed for civil ceremonies and civil partnerships, giving you the opportunity to celebrate

your entire day with us, from ceremony to evening reception.

Your Day… The Avon Gorge Hotel provides the perfect setting; ideal to celebrate your special day. We offer a variety of light and airy suites, including a beautiful private terrace, all enjoying the beautiful views

over the Avon Gorge.

Riverside Suite

Our largest suite overlooks both the Suspension Bridge and the Avon Gorge, and can accommodate

up to 100 guests for a ceremony, up to 80 guests for a dinner reception or 120 guests for an evening

celebration.

Clifton Suite

Featuring a beautiful bay window, with stunning views of the private terrace and the Avon Gorge,

this room can accommodate up to 50 guests for a civil ceremony or reception.

Bristol Room

The Bristol room is suitable as a more intimate venue for civil ceremonies and can accommodate up

to 16 guests.

The White Lion Bar

Our fantastic White Lion bar area can be privately hired for your reception, this more relaxed

celebration area can be decorated to your style and accommodate up to 200 guests.

Private Terrace

This truly unique area can be hired exclusively for your reception drinks, or for the entire reception,

in association with the Clifton or Bristol rooms for up to 250 guests. It also features a private

function bar and barbecue.

What to do Next?

Once you have decided on the date and your function requirements, all you need to do is make a

provisional booking with the Hotel.

To secure this booking, a non-refundable deposit of £500 along with a confirmation letter to secure

your date will be required.

A pro-forma invoice for full payment of your event is required 14 days prior to the date.

Credit card details are also required for any extras that may be taken on the day of the event.

We recommend that Wedding Insurance is considered.

Cheques should be made payable to The Avon Gorge Hotel.

Prices are subject to alteration without notice.

Catering:

It is company policy that all guests are catered for.

A finger buffet is not permitted for the wedding breakfast.

For those with allergies; please be aware all catering is prepared in a kitchen that handles nut

products.

For custom receptions, evening parties following the wedding breakfast must have catering to the

minimum price of £16.00 per person. (Not relevant to package customers).

All catering & beverages must be provided by the hotel only with the exception of the wedding cake.

Want to get married in a stunning location?

Here’s some guidance for our licensed premises

1. As soon as the couple have made provisional arrangements for their marriage on approved premises they should

be advised to contact the superintendent registrar for the district in which the premises are situated. For the

Avon Gorge Hotel, please contact Bristol Register Office, The Old Council House, Corn Street, Bristol, BS1 1JG.

T: 01179 222 800.

2. Without the presence of this superintendent registrar and a registrar there can be no marriage and any

arrangements for the use of the premises depend entirely on their availability. It is therefore, essential that the

couple make an advance booking with this superintendent registrar for his/her attendance at their proposed

marriage as soon as a booking can be accepted. A fee for this attendance will be payable before the ceremony.

3. The couple will also have to give notice of marriage to the superintendent registrar(s) of the district(s) in which

they live. This notice must be given in person by the couple but is valid for only twelve months. The couple

should, therefore, attend the register office where they live as soon as possible after notice can be given.

4. The couple should be warned that any arrangements made for a marriage to take place on the approved

premises are dependent on:

a. the attendance of the superintendent registrar and a registrar for the district in which the premises are

situated; and,

b. the issue of the authority or authorities for marriage by the superintendent registrar(s) to whom notice

of marriage was given.

5. When notice is given in a different registration district from the one where the marriage is taking place, the

couple will have to collect the authority before the ceremony and ensure that it is delivered to the registrar who

is to attend the ceremony.

6. The couple should be advised that only a civil, non-religious ceremony can be permitted by the superintendent

registrar. Any music, reading, words or performance which form any part of the ceremony must be secular. The

content of the ceremony must be agreed in advance with the superintendent registrar who will be attending the

ceremony.

7. Any rights of copyright for music, readings etc. must be permitted at the ceremony are a matter for the couple

and the holder of the approval.

8. Charges – the superintendent registrar will advise applicable charges.
