I'm not sure if this is an indication that that we're going to have lots of snow as predicted for this year or what. An old belief (as predicted in the farmer’s almanac) was that if the evergreen trees had their cones high up in the tree we were to get lots of snow in the coming winter. Please give it your consideration. We have two groups, namely Activities and Events that could use your support and assistance. These two groups are the backbone of our Probus group. AFTERNOON WINE – 3rd Tuesday, 1:30 pm MARILYN NEWELL & MARIE JOELLE ERCK

Nov 21 - Doris Hart was the lovely host for this month’s event and picked out some fabulous Spanish Wines. Thanks Doris for being such a gracious hosts while the wine ladies because overwhelmed with fun and laughter.

HONORO Vino Blanco White wine 2016 from the D.O. Rueda area near Segovia, Spain. The best vineyards of Rueda are situated on the sandy soils with gravel, where the vines produces the finest grapes possible in the region with aromas of white flowers and fresh fruit. The group felt that the taste of the wine and the graphics on the bottle were sensational, the bottle making a beautiful display on the table.

HONORO Vera Red. The best vineyards of Calatayud are situated high on the hillsides, 3000 ft above sea level, where, despite the poor gravelly soil, the old gnarled vines produce the finest grapes possible in this arid, desolate region. Only the ripest clusters are chosen, thus producing wine of considerable

depth and finesse. The wine exudes intense aromas of sweet cherries and dark plums with an exotic spicy finish reminiscent of white pepper. Again, the taste and the graphics are outstanding.

HIKING & WALKING – Every Monday at 9:30am BOB SEMENYK - (905) 848-2679 Walk…don’t run!! The cold weather is about us now, but we do not let it keep us from our Monday morning walks. It’s time to bundle up and protect yourself from the cold. Not only is the exercise good for you but you will learn more about this great City we all live in. The big bonus at the end of the walk, is we get to warm up together at McDonalds while enjoying a hot refreshing beverage and of course some lively CHIT-CHAT. Hope to see you on Monday! Regards, Bob Semenyk Walk Co-ordinator Cell (905) 848-2679 HIKING & WALKING 2 – FRIDAY AM PENNY & BRIAN DOBSON - 905-624-0674 We meet every week at 9:30 am (in good weather) enjoying a variety of trails in Mississauga, Etobicoke and sometimes also in Oakville. We are very laid back and enjoy talking, walking and laughing as well as coffee after our walks. We usually decide together where the next walk will be as suggestions are always welcome. Sometimes we organise an optional lunch. Since we are away from the middle of January to the middle of April any walks in the winter months will be on an occasional basis if another group member decides to lead one. I send out the weekly emails, but am very grateful that I am not leading the walks as Brian has a much better sense of direction. BAD PARROT

Contributed by Joe Palkovich

A young man named John received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary.

Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity. John tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft

music and anything else he could think of to 'clean up' the bird's vocabulary. Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. John shook the parrot and

the parrot got angrier and even more rude. John, in desperation, threw up his hand, grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed.

Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute. Fearing that he'd hurt the parrot, John quickly opened the door to the freezer.. The parrot calmly

stepped out onto John's outstretched arms and said "I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to

do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior." John was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude.

As he was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, the bird spoke-up, very softly,

"May I ask what the turkey did?"
