This Social Story is designed to help children on the Autism Spectrum and their families prepare to visit the American Repertory Theater for the Sensory Friendly performance of "The Pirate Princess" on Monday, December 28th at 2PM. The Social Story contains information about visiting the theater, what it's like to watch "The Pirate Princess," and some of the characters in the play. Prince VICTOR loves to read. He doesn’t like to fight and doesn’t know if he would make a good king someday. He loves his sister Violet.

Princess VIOLET likes to sword fight. She is brave and adventurous. Sometimes gets in trouble. She doesn’t like Princess School very much. She loves the open sea and the adventures it may bring!

BLOODBEARD is the Pirate Captain of his ship, the Re-Vengeance. He is good at sword fighting. He is not very good at talking about his feelings. He misses his father who used to be the captain.

These are thePIRATES!

PATCHES is the co-captain of the Re-Vengeance. He is very good at getting theother pirates to work.

GROGFACE is the ship’s cook. He makes very good smoothies.

SCARFOOT is the ship repairman. He likes to fight.

JUNIOR is the youngest pirate on the ship. He is very curious about everything.

OLIVIA is the Queen of Illyria. She is very sadbecause she misses her brother, who died. She likes to paint and write.

MARIA works inOlivia’s court.Maria is very good at keeping things organized. She sometimes gets frustrated withOlivia. She wants Olivia to be a good queen.

FEISTY is a tour guide in Illyria. She used to work for Queen Olivia but was fired. Feisty knows everything about the land. She knows almost everyone.

TONY is a teacher of Prince Victor and Princess Violet. He used to be a pirate. He knows a lot about the dangers of the sea.

The KRAKKEN lives beneath the sea. He is big and loud. He is very lonely. He wants the Queen to like him.
