April 1, 2018Psalms 118:28-29: Thou art my God, and I will give thanks to Thee; thou art my God, and I will extol Thee. O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good for his steadfast love endures forever!Praise God! Give thanks for His victory over death! Give praise for His gift of eternal life to all people! Give thanks for the completion of the narthex renovation! Praise God for the formation of the Senior Pastor call committee! Father, we give thanks with great joy for the gift of eternal life through your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

April 8, 2018John 20:31 …but these things are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. Psalm 145:17 : The Lord is just in all His ways, and kind in all His doings. The Lord is near to all who call upon Him; to all who call upon Him in truth. the mighty way You have blessed us through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Help us each to be given the opportunity to share Your good news and love with others. Amen

April 15, 2018 Matthew 6:24: No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. Pray for those who attend the Empty Bowl Project and who volunteer at ECHO. For the Ethnic Ministries and the Senior Pastor Call Committee. Father, help us to follow Your lead and example. Make our ears tuned to hear Your Word above all noise. Bless those who share Your word and bless others by witnessing to Your grace and love. Amen.

April 22, 2018—Luke 6:18-19, 22-23 Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they exclude you and revile you, and cast out your name as evil, on account of the Son of man. Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, Your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets. Pray for: The Crescent Project Prayer Breakfast participants, the Senior Pastor Call Committee, and our Confirmands as they write their statements of faith. We praise and thank You O Lord, for You give us strength and courage through the storms of life. Help us to keep You before our eyes and to put Your word deep into our hearts. Give us the peace that passes understanding as we experience difficulties and as an example to others of your love. Amen

April 29, 2018—John 1:16-18: And from His fullness have we all received grace upon grace, for the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God; the only son, who is in the bosom of the Father; He has made him known. Pray for: The National Day of Prayer; and the Confirmands preparing their rite of confirmation. Father, You have sent us Jesus who has brought us Your grace and truth. We pray that we might rejoice and be glad, to share this good word to all around the world, and to grow daily in love for You. Amen.

ANSWERED PRAYER: Sharing the ways in which God is alive and moving in your life is an integral component in living out your faith and encouraging others!

*First attended an LCMS Church on Scouting Sunday about fifty years ago as a Cub Scout. Within a month, my family began attending too.*Town Hall Meeting was a positive step toward healing and reconciliation.*Encouraged acquaintance to take Jesus’ words to heart and cast upon Him. *I am recovering nicely from a brain aneurysm.*Jason was able to bless a man named George in his time of need. Jason prayed for George, and George received this help as an answer to prayer.*When attending the Billy Graham viewing in the Capitol Rotunda, I was very impressed by how much scripture is represented in paintings, sculpture, and edifices. What a strong legacy of faith early leaders left us. He (Jesus) is still there.*Praise God that my wife and children love the Lord Jesus. Praise that my wife had a successful meeting with the other homeschool moms.* We met fellow Christians at a Lutheran church in O.C. – nice church away from home.

GO! SED MissionariesThank you for your faithful prayers, email messages, and monetary donations in support of our SED World Missionaries. Our Go! Project for March made a life impact for the 26 missionary families who were adopted and the MANY lives they will touch through their ministries. Over $12,000 to date were donated to Mission Central, the “sending” arm of the LCMS, and 100% of those dollars will be given directly the missionaries who were designated. We are still accepting donations. Thank you! Each month we will continue to pray for these missionaries who consider the Southeastern District their home. This month we are praying for Carl and Karen Cecil who serve as missionaries in Germany. They are working with the LCMS partner church in Germany to reach the large-scale Middle Eastern refugees sharing with them the love and hope of salvation in Jesus Christ. Senior Pastor Call Committee Membership and ProcessAs announced recently, the Board of Servant Leaders (BoSL) has been praying for many months for discernment on next steps for calling a senior pastor and has passed a resolution to form the Senior Pastor Call Committee. We are pleased to share with you the committee membership as well as an overview of the process for calling our next senior pastor.

Through prayer and discernment, the following congregation members have agreed to be members of the Senior Pastor Call Committee. Please join us in praying for them and their upcoming work!

Jon Gross, ChairLola Coyle, Vice ChairMike BryanPatty BryantBo GrimesJessica LandonDave McLean, BoSLKim Robinson, BoSL

The process of calling workers to the church is one that involves a tremendous amount of prayer and listening to the Holy Spirit. The committee will be following a process designed by the LCMS and working under the guidance of the SED through Circuit Visitor, Pastor Jack Meehan, over the next several months.

The process that will be followed is outlined on the following page; as you can see, we are currently in Step 1. It is important to recognize that this process cannot be timebound if we are truly being led by the Holy Spirit.

Communication is important so that the congregation, including staff, can give input and participate in the process. The process outlined on the following page includes specific steps where the congregation will be involved in addition to praying throughout the entire process. There is a fair amount of confidentiality as it relates to personnel matters that we are asking the congregation to understand. The BoSL is committed to listening to the congregation and sharing as much information about the process and progress as possible. In coordination with the Senior Pastor Call Committee, we will be providing updates monthly in the Communicator about the process.

Please continue to join us in praying for Holy Spirit guidance and patience for this committee, the congregation, our staff, our vacancy senior pastor, and our next senior pastor.

As always, questions or concerns can be shared at any time with BoSL at [email protected] or at a monthly Sunday Listening Forum or a bi-monthly (on the odd-numbered months) Saturday Listening Forum.

Happy Easter from POP Lutheran School! On behalf of the Faculty and Staff at Prince of Peace Lutheran School, we want to wish you the very happiest and holiest Easter. As Christians, we are filled with joy as we remember and celebrate the Resurrection of our LORD Jesus, the Savior promised and sent by the Father, to save us by His death on the cross. Jesus is alive and fills our hearts with His love and with new life! Our Easter Murals lovingly created by the children in the Kindergarten and the Four Year Old Classes recount the events of Holy Week leading up to Easter Sunday and the amazing message from the angel of the LORD at the tomb… “He is not here: He has risen, just as He said.” ~Matthew 28:6

May the blessings of the risen LORD Jesus, fill your hearts and those of all your loved ones with His peace and with His joy! Cindy Deatherage, Principal

A Special Night of Music In March, Music Director Michael Rossi (who also conducts at the Kennedy Center), asked several members of the HIMnals choir to participate in the Kennedy Center’s concert by composer Ibrahim Maalouf. Mr. Rossi directed the Free Spirit Symphonic Orchestra and the children sang with the National Children’s Choir of the United States. Needless to say, it was quite the opportunity!

“It was exciting and really special especially because Mr. Rossi was the one conducting. It was cool to be up there with so many talented musicians. A big thanks to Mr. Rossi! -- Laura Maloney

“Performing at the Kennedy Center was amazing. I was able to get along with the other choir and Mr. Rossi was fantastic! The whole experience was amazing, and it was a night to remember! I would like to thank the whole POP congregation for their support, and Mr. Rossi for supporting us and giving us this opportunity.” -- Courtney Cooper
