The principal elements of functional drawers
rawers must slide in and retracteasily in all kinds of furniture.Almost always, any drawers’problems are due to the slide ways.
Normally, one slide way is made up of thelower sliding rail, the upper ell, and theside ell. A declination of even a fewcentimeters is enough for the drawer to«grip». Well-installed ells from hardwood can ensure a smooth glide, while inthe cases of lighter drawers, corneraluminum profiles can be used. There arealso, of course, drawers’ mechanisms, with balls or small wheels, whichguarantee a smooth glide, usuallyallowing the full removing of the drawer.
Three wooden ell - guides: at the bottom therolling ell, left the side ell, and top the so-calledfriction ell.
If there are many drawers one above the other, the rolling ell of one drawer could also be thefriction ell of the drawer below.
Corner, rolling, and side ells together. Theyare manufactured with two cuts at the circular-saw or with the help of the burr drill - rooter.
With notches at the sides of the drawer, one ellat each side holds the drawer to the right path.
When it comes to light drawers, corneraluminum profiles can take up all the three roles ofslide ways.
As with the ell from hard wood, an aluminumprofile can take up full control, if there is a notch.
A case of «hunging» drawer: the slide wayfrom hard wood, of angulated crosscut, is holdingit from the side gutter.
A similar case, but without a gutter havingbeen opened at the sides of the drawer. The snagis being formed by an added small ell.
