The Principal SpeaksSubjectDear friends

It feels great to connect with you once again, this time at a more personal level, as the journey that we began a few months back has brought us closer by working together for a common cause- the cause of our well being. I feel happy with you, working for you, working with you and marching ahead with you. We are in a happy space. Just as the little chill in the early morning gives us a reason to warm up and get set for a great work-out, in the same manner this initial warm up of the last few months already sounds in my heart as thumping foot- steps of a great sojourn together. 'Mighty oaks from little acorns grow'. All great journeys begin with a single step; the greatest forests are hidden in a single seed.

Look at the sky tonight and feel that you and I are not alone, these innumerable stars twinkle with us and for us. Try smiling at them, you will realize they are smiling back. The whole universe is friendly to us and conspires to give us the best, but yes, only if we have the capacity to dream and the willingness to work that dream out.

Wishing you happy reading, happy dreaming and happy working.

Inter House Sports Tournaments

Balwadi

Where Blossoms Bloom

April 2017thThe new session of Balwadi began on 5 April, 2017.

On the very first day the teachers were all set to create a bond with their pupils. All the students were given a traditional welcome. In the coming days to make them feel comfortable and at home children were made to participate in several engaging activities.

Firstly, in “Know Your School” activity, they were taken for a campus walk and were shown the dance, music, computer and medical rooms. Then to reinforce the colour concept, “Red Colour Day” was

celebrated. Children came dressed up in red colour clothes, identified things and enjoyed tearing and pasting activity in red colour objects. On the “Movie Masti Day”, they enjoyed watching the movie of their favourite cartoon characters along with their classmates and teachers. In “Sensory Exploration” week, different hands-on-activities made children explore the world they live in using their five senses. An ice-cream party was organized for them in which the little cherubic angels joyfully relished the scoops of ice-creams.

May 2017“Hindi Solo and Group Recitation Competition” was held on May 1,2017. The rhymes on themes like Clean India, Save the Girl Child, Mother Nature and My Country not only displayed perfect synchronization amongst the students but also conveyed thought provoking messages. The judges appreciated and applauded the sincere efforts of the participants.

July 2017After a long refreshing summer break, children rejoined the school with a new zeal and excitement. First of all, they celebrated the “Blue Colour Day”. This was followed by “Solo Dance Competition”. U.K.G. children presented dances on the theme 'festivals' and L.K.G. children danced on a variety of entertaining songs. During the “Healthy Food Carnival”, children learned to develop healthy eating habits. They learned to make lemonade and were told to use it as a substitute to aerated drinks. In a collage making activity U.K.G. children pasted pictures of healthy food items on paper plates. The “Splashing Day” gave them an opportunity to have lots of fun with their friends in the toddler's pool.

August 2017August is the month of national fervor for our country. To instill the value of nationalism and pride among the young ones, “Know Your Country” activity was conducted. Children learned various facts about their country and pasted pictures of National Emblem, flower, animal etc in their copies. On the Independence Day, their performance on the song “Meelon hum aagaye, meelon humein jaana hai” enthralled everyone.

Janmashtami was also celebrated with full festive gusto in the school auditorium. The rhythmic dance of the children on the devotional bhajan “Mai Aarti Teri Gaun O Keshav” won the hearts of the audience. After this, the 'Pink Colour' day was celebrated. It offered them a chance to don the different shades of pink.

st thFrom 21 August to 25 August, “My T.V. Watching Habits Week” was observed. Children became aware of the harmful effects of excessive T.V. watching when they were repeatedly shown a power point presentation. A role play in the assembly by the teachers also contributed greatly to the cause. A planned schedule was sent to the parents which helped them spend quality time with their kids at home. In the 'Dressing Up Myself' activity, children learned

to be independent and dress-up on their own.

September 2017To spread the aroma of poetry “Group and Solo English Recitation Competition” was held on September 8,2017. Children chose a variety of topics and participated with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. To sensitize the children about importance of trees a series of activities were conducted in Balwadi. The children were shown the process of germination, they individually sowed seeds in their pots and daily watered the pot and eagerly waited for the little sapling to pop up. Stories telling sessions and PPT presentation and a movie of a lonely seed apprised the children about the things we get from plants and also the different types of plants and trees around us. To make them eco-friendly the children went for a nature walk where they hugged the trees , observed the birds, the butterflies and the beautiful nature around them. On the occasion of Dusshera the toddlers enjoyed listening to the story of Ramayana through a puppet show. They were thrilled to see the victory of good over evil. At the end of the puppet show the hall echoed with the chants of 'Jai Shri Ram'.
