THE PROPER CUT:HOW TO SLICE CHEESE AT HOME

We take the mystery out of serving your specialty cheese.

ROUND CHEESE

Much like a cake, cut round cheese (like Camembert) into even wedges

from the centre outwards. Cut in half first for easier serving.

BLOCK CHEESE

Slice a block-shaped cheese into horizontal slices in order that

everyone has the same share of rind and creamy middle.

SEMI-HARD CHEESES

To preserve the form and the life of the cheese (such as Comté)

aim to cut into smaller blocks or wedges.

DELICATE CHEESES

Section your delicate cheese (such as Brie) into long, narrow wedges

from the tip outWard. Make sure you don’t cut off the tip!

PYRAMID CHEESES

Much like a round cheese, cut a pyramid or square cheese by first slicing down

the middle and making two further cuts at 45 degree angles to create wedges.

BLUE CHEESES

The most important thing is that everyone receives an equal amount

of ‘blue’ in their slice so aim to criss-cross to create smaller wedges.

HALF MOON CHEESES

These cheeses are perfectly shaped for evenly sliced wedges.

CREAM CHEESES

Cream cheeses such as Rondelé are best scooped from their packet

and served in a bowl.
