Mitigation of Pervasive Euro-American InfluencesDr. Jeffries, retired professor of African Studies at city college often told of the greatness of Black people, and how we're born with the potential of greatness, but programmed to fail. This point is made utterly plan in the book The Developmental Psychology of the Black Child by Dr. Amos Wilson. In it he traces the physical and mental development of Black children from pre-natal to pre-adulthood. Early on in the book, the author cites scholar released in the Journal of Social Psychology, 1958, called "The Psychomotor development of African children in the first year and the influence of maternal behaviour" by Gerber, M. In that paper, they found that:"African babies actually seemed to be born at a more advanced stage of development since many of their activites as less than a week corresponded to those performed by European aged four to eight weeks"With the endless statistics often cited to make note of the problems variety of problems afflicting Black people in America, it makes one wonder if something slowing the development of Black people to the point that they fall behind their counterparts in different races.TRANSCRIPT
