THE BIG PICTURE One of the more violent forms of sexual exploitation is the trafficking of women, men, girls, and boys into the commercial sex industry. The “3 P’s” of anti-trafficking work are: prevention, prosecution, and protection. Prevention work specifically involves cultural change that reduces the demand for commercial sex. The U.S. State Department has stated that “leaders in civil society—from teachers to parents to ministers—must foster the belief that it is everyone’s responsibility to do their part to reduce the demand for commercial sex,” because “it will also be the day- to-day decisions of individual men and women to reject exploitation that will bring an end to modern slavery.” The Christian community has a biblical mandate to engage in anti-trafficking work, particularly on the prevention and the protection side, because we are to seek justice for the vulnerable and oppressed (Jeremiah 22:3; James 1:27), educate and speak out about injustice (Proverbs 31:8-9), protect young people from prostitution and sexual exploitation (Leviticus 19:29) and proclaim Jesus and shape culture through sanctified lives that grow in the love, purity, and justice of Christ (Psalm 89:14; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; 1 John 3:3). THE BIG PICTURE

One of the more violent forms of sexual exploitation is the trafficking of women, men, girls, and boys into the commercial sex industry.

The “3 P’s” of anti-trafficking work are: prevention, prosecution, and protection. Prevention work specifically involves cultural change that reduces the demand for commercial sex.

The U.S. State Department has stated that “leaders in civil society—from teachers to parents to ministers—must foster the belief that it is everyone’s responsibility to do their part to reduce the demand for commercial sex,” because “it will also be the day-to-day decisions of individual men and women to reject exploitation that will bring an end to modern slavery.”

The Christian community has a biblical mandate to engage in anti-trafficking work, particularly on the prevention and the protection side, because we are to seek justice for the vulnerable and oppressed (Jeremiah 22:3; James 1:27), educate and speak out about injustice (Proverbs 31:8-9), protect young people from prostitution and sexual exploitation (Leviticus 19:29) and proclaim Jesus and shape culture through sanctified lives that grow in the love, purity, and justice of Christ (Psalm 89:14; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; 1 John 3:3).

THE PURSUIT
