    Recurring deposit is a scheme where depositor commits to depositfixed amount for a fixed period of time (for instance Rs 500 everymonth for 12 months)and gets a lump- sum amount at the end ofdefined period. The terms i.e., fixed amount, interval and fixed the

    period that is decided at the time of opening the deposit can not bmodified / altered.

    High interest rates of interest. Non-applicability of Tax Deduction at Source(TDS). Minimum amount required to open RD account is Rs 100/-,

    Deposit tenure minimum 5 years in any of RSCB Branches. Minimum amount of Deposit- Rs.100 and in multiples of 100

    thereafter subject to a maximum of Rs.1,00,000/- in a financial yea

    Qualify as an investment for the purpose of deduction under sec.80(as of I.T. Act 1961).

    Premature withdrawal of the deposits made under the scheme shanot be allowed before completion of 5 years. In the event of deathof holder of a deposit in respect of which a nomination is in force,the nominee or nominees shall be entitles at any time before orafter the maturity of the deposit to encash the deposit.

    The deposit shall not be pledged to secure loan or as security to another asset.

    The fixed deposit receipt issued under the scheme shall begoverned by the provisions of The Bank Term Deposit scheme 2006Notification No.SO 1220(F) Dated 28/07/2006.

    Interest accrued or paid during a financial year shall be liable to taunder the Act and provision of TDS shall apply.
