Coming off the Competition of Competitions, the 2013 100% RAW American Challenge, the expressive lifting continued throughout the month of July. Lifter Spotlights from the three 100% RAW meets held in the month of July can be located on page 6 of this newsletter. This will be a new feature to our monthly newsletter that I am adding to keep bring more attention to our state level competitions.

The vision of our new newsletter is to place it on the pulse of the 100% RAW Federation. It is going to take the collective efforts of our State Chairmen, meet staff, lifters, and family and friends to make that possible. The 2013 World Championships will be our biggest World event ever!! We are combining

the Full Powerlifting and Single Event Worlds again this year. We will be running 2

platforms, 1 for Full Power and 1 for Single Lift Events. We are capping the

competition at 250 lifters for this extravaganza. This is our 5th year running the

Worlds in Las Vegas at the Riviera Hotel & Casino and each year has been very

successful. The staff at the Riviera has been real good to us and treats us like

royalty. You will enjoy this competition and the whole weekend.

On October 3rd of 2013the 100% RAW Powerlifting Federation, Inc will hold our main event, the World Championships in Las Vegas. This will be our 5th straight year at the Riviera Hotel and Casino

but 2nd time we ever held the Full Powerlifting and Single Lift World Championships together.

This year the event will be the biggest world championship event we ever held. We secured this property for the event and arranged for $59 Sunday thru Thursday and $72/night Friday & Saturday. This is a do not miss event  that  will  be  a  full  weekend  of  powerlifting,  casino’s,  great  food  and  all  the night life excitement of Las Vegas. Make  sure  you  don’t  miss  this  event  and  turn  it  into  a  great  weekend  getaway  for  you  and  your  spouse/friends.  Four years ago this event was so successful that we signed a 4 year deal to hold our World Championships here. This will be our 5th year and we are very excited because the Riviera offers the greatest hospitality.

The International expansion of the 100% RAW Federation has enabled us to include the countries of Canada, India, China, Israel, Italy, Russia, Ukraine, Estonia, Serbia, South Africa, Teams from Asia and others. We are hoping to welcome several of our International affiliates to this year’s competition for a true World Championship meet.

North Carolina State Championships, July 20, 2013, Greenville, NC

The NC State Championships were moved to Greenville, NC this year to Tier 1 Fitness. Even with a venue change, The Prez, Paul Bossi, still managed to pull 100+ lifters to the platform. NC witnessed, one Ms. Maribeth Lino, pull her way into the #8 All-Time slot in the 44kg/97# class with a very impressive 92.5/203.9 deadlift!

One of NC’s silent threats, Brandon Pettit (75kg), continued to put his impressive pulling power on display as

he secured the top spot in the Men’s Open NC State Record Book with a new record 247.5 kg (544.5 lbs) deadlift!!!! Brandon Pettit has his crosshairs on the big 600 and he’s not too far from it!! Home field advantage isn’t just for the majors. Tier 1’s very own, Skyler Woolard (242) posted the highest full power total of the day with a 1389 total!!!

Eastern USA Open, July 20, 2013

Meet Director: John Shifflett

As always, Mr. Shifflett put together another nice RAW meet in Woodbridge,Virginia’s Eastern USA Open. Two lifters that have stood out in VA are Brandon Perdue and Nick Apseloff. Brandon Perdue (Open, 25-29) 198, put up an impressive, double body weight, bench of 200kg!! Nick Apseloff (20-24) 181 threw up an impressive, double body-weight bench of his own of 173kg!! Congrats to you both on your strong bench press performances and hope you two decide to bring that benching power to the platform at the Worlds in Vegas!

“No Druggies Allowed” (Meet Director: Joe Orengia) was held in Erie, PA, July 21, 2013. So much action took place at this meet let’s just dive right in.- Nick Hartmann (97 Teen 14-15) set a new teen state record bench press @ 45kg (99.21lbs)- Mark Walker (114 Junior 20-24) set a new junior state record bench press @ 70kg (154.32lbs)- Aurelio Velazquez (220 Open/Master 45-49) secured the Champion of Champions crown in the bench press throwing up a

160kg (352.74lbs) press.- Joe Martucci (148 Open/Master 45-49) snatched up the Champion of Champions in the deadlift with impressive 207.5kg

(457.46 lbs) pull.
