It is difficult, but certainly not impossible, to imagine how a Security Management Systems (SeMS) could be achieved without the use of a software application framework operating on a relational database to provide a “digital” solution. Spreadsheets can sort, filter, count, and manipulate your data and represent it both in graphical and tabular formats but they cannot, on their own, easily “integrate security into the daily operations and culture”.
Once data is stored in a database the ways to analyse and report on that data are only limited by the knowledge and expertise of the subject matter experts advising the application developers – and, of course, the imagination and creativity of the developers themselves. Most of us are visual people, analytics are more easily assimilated when presented in an intuitive way with no room for ambiguity or misinterpretation.
To make the case for the adoption of a digital SeMS framework you should take each of the CAA/DfT’s Framework for an Aviation Security Management System (SeMS) key components in turn and consider how a digital SeMS framework can enable the delivery of that component. This will then provide a clear picture of what any SeMS framework should provide if it’s to meet that promise.
So, if you do decide to use a digital SeMS framework to provide the core of your SeMS functionality what should you look for in such a “product”?
Ideally, the framework that you adopt would have the capability to address all the key SeMS components that the CAA/DfT have identified; even if you take the most likely approach of an incremental adoption of a digital SeMS framework you want to know that the future will not be limited by the capability of the application.
If you have any questions about Redline SeMS or you would like a free demo, please contact our sales team to book.

A SeMS provides a formalised, risk-driven framework for integrating security into the daily operations and culture of an Entity. e SeMS enables an Entity to identify and address security risks, threats, gaps and weaknesses in a consistent and proactive way.Extract from the CAA/DfT’s Framework for an Aviation Security

REDLINE ASSURED SECURITY PARTNER WITH 3dASSURANCE
We are delighted to announce that Redline Assured Security has partnered with risk assurance and security management specialist 3dAssurance, which is headed up by John Wood, former Aviation Security Strategy Lead for the Civil Aviation Authority and Andy Blackwell, former Head of Security at Virgin Atlantic respectively, to enhance security management practices in industry.
The partnership will see 3dAssurance augment its current Security Management Systems (SeMS) framework, which includes training and mentoring in risk and compliance management and the implementation of risk management systems, to include Redline’s digitised Security Management System (SeMS), which has a range of methods and tools for the management of security performance and risk management.
Together the two companies will be helping businesses to manage their security challenges and move forward into a streamlined, efficiency based environment.
This announcement follows the endorsement by the International Civil Aviation Organisations (ICAO) of the
Global Aviation Security Plan (GASeP): “This new strategic document will assist ICAO Member States in their aviation security coordination with other States and applicable security agencies, as well as helping to nurture security cultures and capabilities, place greater focus on the role of new technologies and innovations, and refine related frameworks for oversight and quality assurance,” affirmed ICAO Council President Dr. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu.
John Wood, Consultancy Practice Director, 3dAssurance, said: “ICAO’s aims will only be achieved if industry feels empowered to innovate its security methods. SeMS does just that, but we have long recognised the need to incorporate risk and performance management tools in our portfolio. Redline’s global reach and renowned security and technical expertise is the ideal complement to our SeMS framework and this collaboration creates a unique partnership able to offer complete security management solutions to industry. Our experience has shown that although originally conceived for aviation, SeMS is just as effective in other industries and the partnership with Redline will prove invaluable there too”. Jim Termini, Commercial Director at Redline said “this is as close as possible to a commercial marriage made in heaven, 3dAssurance bring a wealth of experience and portfolio within SeMS in aviation and our technical solution, Redline SeMS, underpins and automates the priority areas identified in a SeMS framework. The GASeP is a major step forward in global terms in the realisation of SeMS with no country left behind. We are excited and working hard to achieve our shared goal of raising aviation security standards across the industry.”

The 36-State ICAO Council made the historical step in officially endorsing the very first Global Aviation Security Plan today, to improve international coordination, response and planning in relation to civil aviation threats.
“This new strategic document will assist ICAO Member States in their aviation security coordination with other States and applicable security agencies, as well as helping to nurture security cultures and capabilities, place greater focus on the role of new technologies and
innovations, and refine related frameworks for oversight and quality assurance,” affirmed ICAO Council President Dr. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu.
Indicators and targets dates have been established, which will be reviewed on a regular basis and adjusted accordingly to take into account any new potential aviation security threats.
“The Council has encouraged the ICAO Secretariat to continue refining
and improving this critical living document, on the basis of close continued cooperation with States and security stakeholders globally, and with due attention to all applicable implementation assistance and capacity building requirements in ICAO’s Regions,” Dr. Aliu further commented.

An unattended backpack containing an exploding lithium-ion camera battery caused panic at Orlando International Airport. Surveillance video released by the TSA shows an Officer removing the smoking bag from the airports security checkpoint.
Loud bangs thought to be gun shots were heard by passengers which caused panic throughout. An official
statement later confirmed there wasn’t a shooting at the airport.

The staff at the NSTC did a fantastic job in raising a few pennies for the BBC Children in Need charity on 17 November 2017. Rocking up to work in our casual attire with baked goods in hand, the kitchen was soon laden with many different varieties of cake. Some baked and some bought (brownie points awarded to the bakers!).
It’s no secret that many in Redline have a sweet tooth, and it wasn’t long before the kitchen looked like a swarm of locusts had descended upon it.
The plan was to upload a nicely arranged image of the cakes, laid out on the table, but by the time we were ‘camera ready’, we were left with mere crumbs! Not that we minded, it was all for a great cause and by the end of the day we were pleasantly surprised to discover we’d raised £125.65!
A massive thank you to everyone involved, and for the generous donations that will mean disadvantaged children in the UK are safe, happy and secure; allowing them the chance to reach their full potential.

With her first competition in the bag, we grabbed Kelly for a
quick update after competing at the UK Ultimate Physiques!
“I really enjoyed every minute of my first show! It was a big
competition and although I didn't place in the top 5, I did get some
amazing feedback, which I’ll be working on over the next few months.
In the meantime though, I’ll be enjoying Christmas food before
starting to prepare again, ready for the next competition in May 2018.
A few members of the Redline family were there to
support Kelly at this event, and hopefully we’ll get
a few more to go and support her in May 2018. A
massive well done Kelly, from all at Redline.
It’s been a busy couple of months for our HR Department with lots of new starters in the company.
