    The Result of Portrun Regatta A Great Success. From the pages of the

    Roscommon Journal 23 August 1913

    By Albert Siggins.

    On last Friday, 15th August, the annual Regatta at Portrun came off under the happiestof circumstances. The weather was all that could be desired and if the Committee

    specially interviewed the weather clerk on the occasion they could not secure more

    favourable weather conditions. The scenery around Portrun is of a very commanding

    character. The Shannon wends its way through headlands green and hills between and

    many a hedgerow through and beautiful landscapes on either sides greet the view. The

    attendance on this occasion was extremely large and representative and the large crowd

    present spent a most pleasant days outing. Each event was well contested and prizes of

    a very valuable character were awarded the victors. All the arrangements in connection

    with the fixture were made in a thoroughly up-to-date manner and pleased both

    spectator and competitors.

    The following are the results;
