From the Editor

The 2008 Republican National

Convention was a smashing success! We

are so proud to have John McCain as our

nominee and future President. And who

will ever forget when the world met Sarah

Palin. Our ticket is strong. McCain and

Palin are headed toward victory in

November. Members of the Evans High

School Teen Age Republicans will one day

be able to tell their children and

grandchildren, “I was there. I helped

make history.”

The Convention did not start in the

traditional way. Our brothers and sisters

along the Gulf Coast were threatened by

Hurricane Gustav. Until we knew they

were out of harm’s way, politics and any

type of celebration was not a priority.

The Republican Convention was

transformed into a hurricane relief

effort. 80,000 care packages were

assembled and sent to the region, pleas

were made for donations, and prayers

were said. In the words of First Lady

Laura Bush, “When such events occur, we

are reminded that first, we are all

Americans and that our shared American

ideals will always transcend political

parties and partisanship.”

Once the danger of Gustav passed, we

again focused on our nominees.

On September 3, Wednesday night,

America saw exactly why John McCain

chose Sarah Palin as his running mate.

After a week a vicious attacks from the

liberal media, Gov. Palin came out swinging.

A political giant has awoken. And working

moms everywhere can say, “I too sing

America!”

On the final night of the convention,

John McCain took the stage and laid out

his vision for America. A vision that

includes less government, energy

independence, and a strong national

security policy that does not allow

surrender as an option.

The Teen Age Republicans celebrated

at the Columbia County Republican Party

headquarters at the McCain Nation

Convention Watching Party. The TARS

were well represented with over twenty

members participating. This issue of the

Right Knight is the Convention Issue. On

page 2 we have pictures from the

Convention in St. Paul. On page 3, we have

pictures from our own soiree. It was a

night to remember!

Finally, this week marks the seventh

anniversary of the cowardly attacks on

the World Trade Center, the Pentagon,

and the plane crash in Somerset County,

Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001. The

threat from this radical dogma of hate

and destruction is just as dangerous

today as it was then. The threat posed by

its adherents is greater than any threat

posed by the Nazis or the Communists.

They hate us because of our love of

freedom. What is at stake is the

American way of life. To quote John

McCain – “Stand up, stand up, stand up

and fight. Nothing is inevitable here.

We’re Americans, and we never give up.

We never quit. We never hide from

history. We make history.” September 11,

2001. WE WILL NEVER FORGET. WE

WILL NEVER GIVE UP.
