Major FunctionsThe major functions of the Association are to

• Support its members’ leadership in activities that affect people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

• Publish and promote cutting edge research, tools, and materials that inform policy and practice.

• Develop and implement educational opportunities for professionals, policy makers, and others; and

• Engage in activities that promote progressive public policy.

Education Initiatives

• Build the content and capacity of the online learning platform

• Develop in person educational offerings• Continue to host webinars at least monthly• Continue our current educational partnership with The

Arc through its Autism NOW project• Provide a full day symposium at the 2012 IASSID

conference• Develop 2012 AAIDD conference• Co-sponsor conferences with partner organizations

Publications Program

• Journals– Transition to new editor of IDD– Transition to Highwire platform for journals access

• Books– Several books scheduled for release this year– Aggressive acquisitions mode

Assessment Tools

• Supports Intensity Scale (SIS)– Release of refreshed SIS in late 2012– Release of SIS for Children in 2013 – Ongoing translation, training, and state/province

adoption efforts• Diagnostic Adaptive Behavior Scale (DABS) – Release in early 2012

Policy Initiatives

• Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD)• Annual Disability Policy Seminar• Amicus briefs on Atkins cases• Joint policy statements with The Arc• Chemical Policy Reform• Provide comments on draft legislation, proposed

rule making, and other federal activities• Contribute to the popular press on disability

issues
