• Although the recertification will be awarded by the General Medical Council, it will be assessed on the evidence submitted to the RCPCH against standards set by the RCPCH.

• Currently there are 30,000 consultants, 10% working in paediatrics

• EWTD: maximum will be reduced to 48 hrs

• There are currently 266 acute rotas (general and neonatal, excluding specialist rotas) that have a "middle grade" component
