❖ Emvelo is a 100% African owned green economy
company with interest in renewable energy and green
infrastructure projects.
❖ Purpose - Unlocking Africa’s green economy to deliver
sustainable socio-economic returns for present and

❖ In 2009, Emvelo conceived and led the development of
its flagship 100MW (Ilanga CSP1), achieved
Commercial Operation Date (COD) in November 2018.
❖ Emvelo has developed a pipeline of close to 2GW of
utility scale solar projects that are “shovel ready”.
These are located at Upington Ilanga Solar Park
(“Upilanga”), Northern Cape, South Africa.

❖ As the world transitions to a low carbon future and the goal of attaining “Net Zero”
by 2050
1. CSP with TES has a role to play in the future global energy mix aimed at addressing
the climate change crisis that is upon us.
2. CSP with TES, provides dispatchable and flexible electricity that complements
variable (non-dispatchable) electricity generation allowing higher penetration of low -
cost electricity from wind farms and PV plants.
3. Macro-economic benefits of CSP with TES include, local industrialisation of the
technology, reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, local economic development and
sustainable green jobs.
4. The Western US as the pioneer of the commercialization of CSP which gave birth to
the current global CSP market, can reclaim centre stage in the deployment of CSP
as the world transitions to a low carbon future. Leadership is the Answer!
