Jesus said
to the chief priests
and elders
of the people:
"What is
your opinion?
A man had two sons.
He came to the first
and said,
'Son, go out
and work in
the vineyard today.'
He said in reply, '
I will not, '
but afterwards
changed his mind
and went.
The man came
to the other son
and gave
the same order.
He said in reply,
'Yes, sir,
‘but did not go.
Which of the two
did his father's will?"

First Tuesdays
with Monica Oct Topic: “Fallen Away Catholics” Date is Oct 3, 6 pm—7 pm
St Monica spent 17 years praying from St Augus-tine. We should never give up hope or praying, no matter what the issues are. Let’s go the extra mile to help our children, as well as all our brothers and sisters. Come join us for prayer and infor-mation sharing to assist those affected by issues which need healing. Our prayer is for Christ’s healing. Our information sharing is to assist with healing and understanding. Every First Tuesday from 6 pm—7 pm at St Augustine. Please come.
A Community Blood Drive will be held on Wednesday, October 11,
2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., St. Augustine Parish Center. All blood types are
needed. Each donation can help save up to 3 lives. Please help save a
life and donate blood.

Marriage Moments:
Ways to Turn your Spouse Off #1 - Be too
busy. Romance can't always fit neatly into a
schedule. Do you have enough open, flexible
time in your married life to flirt, follow a
whim, or postpone a less urgent priority?
Parenting Pointers: Respect Life Month. As a parent, I assume you
speak respectfully to your children and they to you.
Respecting life also means valuing all human life-
especially the lives of the weak, the vulnerable, the
unborn, the poor, even those we disagree with.
With political speech becoming less civil, let your
children hear you speak respectfully even of those
you disagree with.
Tootsie Roll Drive
Knights of Columbus members will be having their an-
nual tootsie roll drive the weekend of October 14 & 15
at St. A. and Holy Name of Mary following the Masses.

Handicapped.

Last year, archdiocesan services provided more than
3,891 men, women and children with assistance for
basic needs such as food, clothing, utility and rental
assistance. Gifts to the Catholic Service Appeal help
make this work possible. Please respond with a gen-
erous gift to the 2017 Catholic Service Appeal.
Guide Book & Directory Advertising
Opportunity
We are in the process of updating our annual Guide Book &
Directory for the church. This book will contain everything
pertinent to our church: the various ministries, organizations,
committees, activities, functions and events plus a complete
directory of all members. This book is being provided and
direct-mailed to each family at no cost to our church, and it is
again being subsidized by local businesses that advertise. If
you own or manage a business and would like to find out
about advertising in our book, please call the Church Office.
Recent survey results by Guide Book Publishing show that
92.1% of families would rather patronize a Guide Book &
Directory advertiser over a non-advertiser. It “will pay” to
advertise in our new Guide Book & Directory.
Come join us for 1st Friday monthly

Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. Let
each of you look not to your own interests, but to those of others.” Philippians 2:4-5
Stewardship is often confused with volunteering. Stewardship is not primarily an activity, but an attitude—a
way of life. Giving of our time, talent, and treasure involves a change of attitude. It is important to think of
giving as a sign of how blessed we are and how using our gifts and talents for the good of others demonstrated
our gratitude to God.

OUR LADY OF FATIMA 100TH Anniversary Celebration
Novena: Oct 5-13
Our Clustered parishes are planning special ac-
tivities to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Miracle of Fatima. We will prepare with
a special Novena beginning the evening of
Wednesday, October 4, the Feast day of St. Francis, which interestingly coincides with the
beginning of the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles.
On Wednesday, October 4, the Fatima Novena
begins at Holy Name of Mary. We will pray the Angelus and then the Rosary. The feast of St.
Francis is a traditional time to bless pets. Pets
may be brought to the parking lot of Holy Name of Mary for the blessing after the angelus and
rosary are complete. 6:00 p.m. Angelus, Rosary, Blessing of Animals
(HNM church)
The keeping of a Novena involves daily prayers.
Since the Blessed Mother requested the recita-
tion of the Rosary, this is recommended. Let each one decide how to observe the novena, by
fasting, prayer, retreat, and prayer from the heart.
The Feast of Tabernacles in Jewish tradition involved a pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusa-
lem. A mini pilgrimage to the tabernacle in the
church for a time of quiet prayer is recommend-able during the Novena.
On Friday, October 13, the novena concludes
with the commemoration of the Fatima miracle.
We will publicly pray the angelus, the rosary, and have opportunity for confession.
1:15 p.m. Rosary (rosary garden, weather permit-
ting, inside St. A. church if bad weather)
6:00 p.m. Angelus, Rosary, Confessions (St. A
Church)
Let us pray
for the
Triumph
of the

Heart
