Adoration will conclude with benediction at midnight. A reception will follow in the rectory. Light refreshments will be served. Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God: January 1st is the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God. It is a Holy Day of Obligation. However, in the United States and other countries, the bishops have received permission from the Vatican to abrogate (temporarily waive) the requirement to attend Mass on certain Holy Days of Obligation when those Holy Days fall on either Saturday or Monday. Therefore, this year because January 1st falls on a Monday, the obligation to attend Mass is abrogated. So, the faithful are not required to attend Mass. Although, you are encouraged to attend one of the three Masses that will be offered that day (see calendar above). Sung Mass: The Mass scheduled for 6pm at St. Helen on Monday January 1st, will be a Sung Mass of the Extraordinary Form. Join us for this special solemn Mass in honor of Mary, the Mother of God. Our Lady of Fatima Chapel: On Sun. Jan.14th there will be a Mass offered in the Chapel at the parish center at 3pm. The Chapel is fully handicapped accessible, so if you are finding it difficult to attend Masses at St. Helen due to accessibility, please consider attending this Mass.
