The Romance
by Vicki Sleet
From colour coordinated candles floating
in a variety of gleaming vessels to seasonal
flowers artfully arranged in beautiful vases and
exquisitely wrapped wedding favours in jam
jars; glass is a wedding essential. Bringing an
immediate sense of style and sophistication
to any table setting, glass casts shards of
flattering light around a space and due to its
very transparency, allows the décor theme to
stay centre stage.
For the bride who cares about her planet, glass
is a first class choice. Absolutely recyclable,
it’s a no-guilt essential for the stylish wedding.
Collect same-size jars to use after your
wedding in your pantry and keep some spare
for making jam when those moments of just-
married domestic goddess-hood hit!
And let’s not forget the all-important wedding
speeches. No wedding is complete without
them - raise your glasses and with them a
toast to life, love, health and happiness.
Vicki Sleet is a lifestyle journalist and the editor of two local blogs I Want That Wedding
and I Want That. She is a self-confessed Consol addict using jars and bottles in every
conceivable shape and size throughout her home and in her office. She is a firm be-
liever that no wedding is complete without Consol as a special guest.

Choose ancient yet present tense and future.
Choose that golden glow
Use clear glass bottles with candles
in groups for an opulent romantic
effect. Or take a page from an
old book, music sheet or peom,
wrap it around the glass jar with
your choice of binding and place a
tealight candle inside the jar.
“Don’t forget the all-important candy bar – where oversized jars with lollipops and candy canes will create an old-school sweet sight to remember.”
“Fill tall glass bottles with cold, homemade lemonade to serve after the ceremony.”
