A message from the Clubs First Madam Chairman
At the 35th AGM 2012 I was elected to represent our great Club as its Chairman. I feel greatly honoured at
being the first lady to hold this position and hope I can do as good a job as our many past Chairmen and our
outgoing Chairman Colin Treacher to whom the Club owes thanks and who is taking a well-earned retire-
ment from committee duties after having served for many years. Our thanks must also go to his wife Pat
who has supported Colin and for her own long service on the Committee. They will still be taking an active
part in the life of the Mustang family, hopefully for a long time to come.
As you will see on the 2013 Rally Programme it holds old favourites and some new ideas. Adrian our
Rally Secretary will be on hand with his board for 2014 (some rallies already pencilled in) and for 2015.
He will never say “no” to an offer of someone willing to organise a rally.
2012 has not been the best regarding the weather. We have still supported our Marshals and coped with
some very difficult conditions – the Mustang spirit lives on to fight another year. If you haven’t rallied
with us yet, please come, you are guaranteed a warm welcome.
See you on the rally field.

August Bank Holiday – Matlock Thurs 23rd – Tues 28th August 2012
Marshals: Graham, Carol, Adrian & Vanessa
Report: Mavis White
We arrived Thursday afternoon to find one rallier had just put his legs down,
we had plenty of room on the field to choose our spot for the week-end.
When Adrian & Vanessa arrived a little later we gave them a cup of tea
along with Graham, who was on his own as Carol was busy being a Nana,
Rachel had given birth earlier in the week. We just had a bit of a chinwag,
the weather was still good. That evening at 8pm eight of us got together for
the usual drinks and biscuits, the nattering produced a good laugh at times.
Friday it had rained through the night and into the early hours of the morn-
ing. Brian and I went into Matlock for a walk about. When we arrived back at the field early afternoon Eric
and Susan had arrived, so we went round for a chat. Later Carol arrived all excited with photographs of
their new granddaughter, Gracie Louise. She arrived in the early hours of Tuesday 21st August. The rest of
the ralliers came during late Friday afternoon and evening. The evening saw us all in the marquee for the
traditional Friday night tea/coffee with biscuits and a good chinwag.
In the early hours of Saturday morning down came the torrential rain. After breakfast most people ventured
out into the surrounding area. There is plenty to see and do in the Peak District. Brian and I along with Sue
and Eric went up the Height’s of Abraham. Brian does not like heights so for him it was a white knuckle
ride, when we got to the top he was fine, we really did enjoy it and the weather was kind to us. That eve-
ning we all assembled in the marquee for the Cheese and Wine. Graham welcomed us and invited us to go
and help ourselves to the cheese and try the wine. We had two heaters in the marquee so we were all very
warm and cosy. During the evening when the wine was flowing very nicely there came from one certain
rallier a sudden gush of flatulence, even the daddy long legs were fighting to reach the escape route. After a
while the episode was brought under control, then an event took place that has not been known before, Pat
took her coat off as she was feeling the heat. We left the party at 10.45pm having had a really good night. I
am not sure what time the evening broke up.
Sunday was a free and easy day for us all, though some ventured out. Carol came over to show off Gracie
Louise, she is beautiful, only 5 days old and since birth had put on 3and a half ozs. That evening flag was
held outside as the evening was pleasant. Colin thanked the marshals for a lovely rally and then presented
two birthday cards one to Pat and one to Adrian. We had all signed a card of congratulations which was
given to Rachel and Shane. Lucky van was won by Eric and Sue, the raffle was held and then we all par-
took of the American Supper, before it got too cold to eat outside. Then as the temperature really dropped
3
Monday and we woke to mist and wind, the usual bank holiday weather. Four caravans are due to go back
home today, nobody is moving very far this morning, as the rain seems to be staying around. About 3.30pm
Eric, Sue, Brian and myself went to Bakewell for a couple of hours. When we got back there was only four
vans left and the rain was still coming down, so we battened down the hatches for the evening hoping it
would be o.k. in the morning when the rally finished.
Thank you to our marshals, who regardless of the weather conditions had managed to give us a lovely week
-end.

UK MOTOR HOME SHOW
30th Aug—3rd Sept 2012 RALLY
(Kelmarsh Hall replacement rally )
Report by Adrian Hambleton
This show was added to our rally programme as we had to cancel the Kelmarsh Hall rally in June because
of the heavy rain. I had announced the rally at the various flags.
During the day you could wander around the show there were various stalls and a variety of Caravans and
Motor homes on display. The exhibition opened on Saturday at 9am and again on Sunday. Along with dif-
ferent entertainment on the Friday and Saturday evening.
The entertainment Friday night was a Hot chocolate & Errol Brown tribute by Kennie Simon, plus The Bird
Man of Magic, Mr Paul Derek. This act was fantastic, the gentleman was producing birds from places you
would never think of. The birds ranged from small Doves to Owls, Ducks, Chickens, Eagle Owl and even
two Geese.
Saturday. A free shuttle bus was put on by the organizers into Newark. The evening soon came and it was
time to go to the hall again for an evening with a Bee Gees tribute band plus comedian Dom Woodward
and what a evening it was.
Sunday as the exhibition was open again, most people had another wander round, Vanessa bought my
Christmas present an Aussie pig (watch this space).
All I can say what a fantastic weekend for £40 all in. Three nights camping, the exhibits and the entertain-
ment. Though we were small in number four vans, for those who did managed to attend this week-end (at
such short-notice) we all enjoyed it.
Great value for money.

AGM Rally, Wrawby, 7 – 9 September 2012
Marshals: Chairman and Committee
Report: Beth Clarkson
We arrived mid afternoon Friday in glorious sunshine which lasted
throughout the weekend and had 15 vans on site. On Friday evening
we went over to the hall with our bowls, spoons and mugs for the
usual chat with the other ralliers and relaxed over a bowl of soup and
bun along with tea, coffee and biscuits. Minutes of the previous
AGM, Financial Report and résumé of the two candidates standing for
Chairman were distributed for members to read before the following
morning’s AGM.
4
On Saturday we all met in the hall at 11.00 am for the 35th Annual General Meeting. Colin as Chairman
presided and welcomed everyone including Beryl and Fred Birkett and Brian and Barbara Codd who are
still members but no longer able to rally. Colin, after giving his Chairman’s Address invited the Officers
in turn to present their reports. All were received and accepted without any issue. We then needed to
vote for a new Chairman as Peter Denton and myself were standing for the position. It was decided that
we would break for a cuppa whilst putting ticks on voting slips. The meeting resumed and the result was
given, so now there is a lady Chairman for the first time in Mustang history. Colin continued with the
rest of the business which included the draw for the yearly free membership and suggested that if the
draw was within the ralliers in the hall then the first card out would be the writer of the AGM report (no
need to tell you the result of that) and the second card out would write the New Year Rally report and as
Stephanie and Tom were present – well, no excuses, you can attend the NYR now and not worry about
getting targeted for the write-up! Fred then stood and thanked Colin for all his years of service to our
Club and we all applauded in agreement. There being no other business Colin closed the meeting.
During the afternoon, some went out and about or just relaxed on site. In the evening when everyone
was in the hall I presented the prizes for the annual competitions. The winners were:
MEN LADIES
FISHING Simon Treacher Marjorie Taylor
GOLF Mike Sheen Vanessa Hambleton
BOWLS John Hudson Val Smith
FLAT CAP Graham Kirkman Vanessa Hambleton
EGG THROWING John Denton & Roy Jollands
CHILDREN’S EGG THROWERS Matthew Good and Chloe White
RALLIERS OF THE YEAR Graham and Carol, John and Wendy
The American Supper (savouries were provided by members, desserts by the committee) commenced and
before the variety of hot puddings, custard and cream were ready the trio started to entertain us. They were
called Harrity - Steve and Dave on guitars and Geraldine on violin. They played and sang a wide range
from rock to folk and anything in between. They stopped when the puddings were ready and resumed after
we were all full up. It was a great evening; some of us even danced to the beat. It was so enjoyable that
both venue and group have been booked for next year.
Flag was held on Sunday morning when I thanked everyone for coming and for their support including
the Chairman and Committee for organising the weekend and Harrity for the entertainment. Anniversary
cards were given to Richard and Val, Graham and Carol; a 1st rally plaque was presented to Brian and
Margaret Mills and at the other end of the scale a 400th plaque to Barry and Val. The quiz was won by
John and Wendy, lucky van to Adrian and Vanessa. The raffle was drawn and prizes won. Adrian up-
dated us on forthcoming rallies. Everyone was asked to check that a local cat hadn’t taken up residence
in their vans, it certainly tried over the weekend. Best wishes were given to all for a safe tow home.
Many thanks to Pat and Colin (who can rest a bit now before New Year Rally) and to the Committee and
everyone who helped over the weekend.

Bonfire Rally Caistor 1st to 4th November
Marshalls Adrian, Vanessa Graham and Carol
Report Val Ashcroft
We arrived Friday to find 6 vans already on site. Vanessa greeted us and offered a most welcome cuppa.
We had lunch and departed to visit the Garden centre at Brigg. At 8pm we went into the Warehouse cum
Awning decorated with a Halloween theme, to meet all the other ralliers and were treated to soup and bread
followed by Carrot cake, Chocolate cake or biscuits. The cakes were brought by ralliers Susan White and
Carol Cook. By the time we retired for the night there were 14 vans on site.
Saturday started off wet but it didn’t stop everyone going out and about. We went to Louth to book our van
in for service and before we left there two other couples from the rally arrived. At 6.15pm a convoy formed
to drive to Glebe House where Adrian had once more worked his magic and arranged for us to park the cars
5
so we didn’t have far to walk to the Bonfire. Once again the Lions put
on a magnificent firework display; thousands of pounds must have been
spent to light the skies over Caistor. We all returned to the Warehouse
awning and tucked in to Hot dogs with Onions followed by Trifle, rhu-
barb crumble or apple pie depending on your preference. Special thanks
must go to Eric and David who cooked the Sausages and Pauline and
Carol who made sure that the crumble was cooked while we were at the
Bonfire. During the evening Stephanie entertained us with her imitation
of a butterfly or was it a Christmas angel when she asked us for our
Christmas Insertions. Why she doesn’t do her own report at A.G.M I
don’t know. An excellent evening was had by everyone.
Sunday morning once again we were in the Warehouse awning for a full cooked breakfast followed by flag,
taken by Beth. Thanks were given to Roy for adding a new layer to the base that the gavel is hit on at the
A.G.M. (There must be a special name for this but I am afraid I don’t know it). A 1st rally plaque was given
to Granville and Jenni Gladwin and a 550th Plaque to Adrian and Vanessa Hambleton. Birthday cards were
handed to Graham Kirkman, Carol Cook and Garth Clarkson. The Competition was won by Graham and
Carol and the Lucky Van went to Tom and Stephanie.
Thank you Adrian, Vanessa and your helpers for all your hard work making sure that we all had a good
time. We look forward to doing it all again next year.
