THE ROYAL FAMILY AND THE DEMOCRACY:

PARLIAMENTARY MONARCHY

• Parliamentary monarchy is a constitutional monarchy or limited monarchy. It is a form of government established under a constitutional system which acknowledges an elected or hereditary monarch as head of state, as opposed to an absolute monarchy, where the monarch is not bound by a constitution and is the sole source of political power.

DIFFERENT MEMBERS OF THE ROYAL FAMILY

• King of Spain: S.M. el Rey don Juan Carlos I.

• Queen of Spain: S.M. la Reina doña Sofía.

• The king’s son: S.A.R. el Príncipe de Asturias, don Felipe.

• Princess: S.A.R. la Princesa de Asturias, doña Letizia.

SHOW THE SPANISH CONSTITUTIONIncumbent upon the King:

a) Sanction and promulgate laws.

b) Summon and dissolve the Parliament and call elections under the terms provided for in the Constitution.

c) Call a referendum in the cases provided for in the Constitution.

d) Propose a candidate for Prime Minister and, if necessary, appoint and terminate his functions with the terms stipulated in the Constitution.

e) Appoint and dismiss members of the Government on the proposal of its President.

f) Issue the decrees approved in the Council of Ministers, to confer civil and military positions and award honors and distinctions in conformity with the laws.

g) To be informed of the affairs of state and chair, for this purpose, the Council of Ministers meetings, when deemed appropriate, at the request of the Prime Minister.

h) The supreme command of the Armed Forces.

i) To exercise the right of pardon under the law, this may not authorize general pardons.

j) The High Patronage of the Royal Academies.

WHAT POWER DOES THE KING HAVE

• It is saying, hardly has the power , he is just a figure that represent all Spain , although he holds the owner of Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces .

HOW HE BECAME THE KING

• You onley can become a king if you are a decender or if you married witha deceder , but if you hasn’t got any relation with the royal family you can’t be kig .
