  • so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. When life is tough and we cant see the way ahead, may we keep looking up, our eyes fixed on Jesus; He knows what Hes doing and will never leave us alone.

Y Yes its often easier to say yes to some things more than others isnt it? Would you like another chocolate biscuit, Sian? Theres no question of the answer being any different is there?! Yet saying yes to God in our lives can sometimes be more tricky. There are times when we get in the way and would rather do our own thing instead of let God take the lead, and I for one have discovered both the joy of allowing God to take the lead and seeing some of the fruit of that, and the struggle of times Ive found myself saying, I cant do this!, only to discover that I was indeed the problem and needed to let God take control! I guess we continue to learn these lessons over and again, but I pray that whatever we do, we wont stop learning from them but keep striving to trust Him and work with Him for His glory.

L Love Ive learnt a lot about love since Ive been here and I have you all to thank for that. Scripture says that God places the lonely in families (Psalm 68:6) and although I have a biological family I obviously came here alone. To begin with that was a major challenge for me; I didnt relish the prospect of living on my own and I didnt have a clue how I was going to run a church by myself, but of course I had God so wasnt alone, but as well as that, He gave me all of you, and we have journeyed together. From the bottom of my heart, with all sincerity, I just want to say thank you to you all for embracing me and loving me as you have. I am genuinely humbled and overwhelmed by the love you have shown me, the support you have given me and the grace you have shown me through all my learning, mistakes and human frailties. Thank you for showing me Jesus in the way you have loved me and accepted me (accent and all!) and illustrated to me the joy and blessing of finding a home here. Its been my joy and pleasure to be part of this with you and I know God has even greater things to come for Rhyl Corps in the days that lie ahead. Keep on trusting, keep on believing and keep on being faithful to the One who will never fail you.

I pray God will richly bless you each.

    With love,

    Sian.

A note from Sian. I can probably count on one hand the number of times in my life when Ive been lost for words. The most recent time I can remember is when Alex proposed and I was both stunned and overwhelmed by the man I love kneeling down in soggy wet grass claiming he needed to do up his shoe lace and then producing a ring!

As I write this now, I feel very much lost for words once again, what can I say about the last 4 years and the joy of being the Officer here? What do I want to say to you before I go?

When I find myself struggling to know what to say I often find it helpful to have something to hang my words on and give me some structure, so, in an attempt to make some sense of my feelings and emotions at the moment, Ill take the name of the Corps here at RHYL to help focus my thoughts!

R Rich My time here over the last 4 years has been more amazing and challenging than I ever thought possible. I knew I was entering a new world of possibilities to see God at work as I entered full time ministry but nothing could have prepared me for all that God had to teach me and show me as He introduced me to all of you fine folk! Some of you speak a little funny to a soft southerner from Essex, and have been instrumental in my accent and use of words and phrases changing, but as well as learning about the diversity of accents and the richness all these things bring, Ive learnt so much about he rich and abundant blessings that are available to us in Christ. Hes done things I never thought possible and has blessed me with the responsibility and joy of sharing this time with you. Im so grateful to God for all Hes done as Hes shown His faithfulness time and time again; we truly serve a great God who will never fail us. We are each rich as we become aware of and celebrate the richness of life and relationship with Him and I pray that day by day well continue to do that as we walk even closer with Him.

H Hope Someone asked me recently was your first appointment here what you expected it would be? My answer was, I didnt really know what to expect, but God has been so gracious to me. We dont always know what to expect in life or how things will turn out, but we have a living God who wants us to keep hoping and trusting in Him. There have been both exciting and challenging times for me both personally and in ministry during my time here, but it is the hope I have in God that has kept me going. One of my favourite verse of scripture is from Romans 15:13: May the God of hope fill you with joy and peace as you trust in Him,

Thank You Sian As this is the last seasider to be produced before our Commanding Officer Lieutenant Sian Radford leaves our corps, firstly to get married and then to take up a new appointment at Prescott, I thought it fitting that I should write a few words of thanks from us as a corps family.

Im sure you would agree with me when I say that Sian has definitely made a big difference to our fellowship in the 4 years she has been our spiritual leader. In particular we thank her for being a conduit for Gods message, both with her ministry from the platform and in her consistent, caring nature and love, shown to all who attend our church. Always willing to lend a hand in a crisis, to get stuck into any task that has presented itself, to visit when people need a reassuring word or just in being a listening ear when weve needed one.

I think this shows too in the number of new people who have begun attending worship in the last couple of years and who have felt a sense of belonging and love shown by us as a church family. Her love for Jesus has shone through in everything that she has done in leading us here.

So Thank You Sian for all that you have done here at Rhyl and we pray Gods guidance, grace and power will go with you and Alex as you continue your ministry with a new congregation at Prescot.

We shall miss you (and your funny stories!!), but look forward to a new chapter in the life of our corps here led by our new officers Dylan and Rachael Nieuwoudt.

Date of the next Seasider is: 12th July
