The Sparta Methodist Church will hold a chicken barbecue from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 15. If the weather is nice, tables will be set in the church parking lot. In the event of rain, however, the dinner will be served in the church dining room. Among the Methodist women who have worked toward making the barbecue a success are ( left to right) Mrs. William.

H. DeHart, Mrs. Lee Moore, Mrs. Victor Ridgeway and Mrs. James Esther. They are showing a poster made by Mrs. Sher-ry Olin. Adult tickets are $1.50 and chil-dren under 12 are $1.00. Tickets can be obtained from WSCS members or from Barth Carlson, Jr., at The Sparta State Bank.

He holds a Bache lor of Science d e g r e e in Animal Husbandry f r o m Michigan State Univers i ty in E a s t Lans ing and rece ived Doctor of Ve te r ina ry Medicine deg ree f r o m that un ive r s i ty this month. Roy A. T i tus of 45 S. State St. has been appointed to fill the unex-p i red t e r m of Jus t i ce of the Peace in Sparta Township caused June 26 by the death of O.T. McCready. Mr . T i t u s was appointed to the post a t the r egu l a r monthly meeting of the Sparta Township Board.

The t e r m will exp i re in 1967 when Mr . T i tus will have to seek ree lec t ion . Lyle Anderson is the other Ju s t i c e of the Peace in Sparta Township.

M r . T i t u s will maintain his o f -f i c e s a t h i s home. Hours will be announced l a t e r when he i s sworm into the off ice during the l a t t e r p a r t of Ju ly .
