“Over the river and through the woods...” we sang on Thanksgiving, when I was a boy. In school we learned

that in the fall of 1621 the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag joined to celebrate the colony’s first successful

harvest. They fired guns and cannons in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Sharing of food, a festive time. And as a

boy I learned an important secret: I always got the turkey heart because nobody else wanted it! A few years later I learned the delights of gizzard, liver, and, yes, the neck!

Thursday, November 26, many of us will learn to go small and stay home this year. COVID has changed the holiday. Or has it? Perhaps not in the most important ways. It is still a good idea to pause and be grateful. It is good for our hearts to have a day named after gratitude! Yes, we

must give thanks for friend and family. And for Old Glory, the flag it is our honor to salute!

We at Berry Law give thanks for the honor and opportunity of serving our Brothers and Sisters in arms. We are thankful for your service to our great country,

names were not. And for all of our families. Yes, let us give thanks. For what is, and for what is yet to come! May God bless us all, and the Country where we are

blessed to live!

National Parks, wilflife refuges, and other federal lands will be free to enter for all Veterans and Gold Star Family members starting this Veterans Day.

Previously, only active-duty troops and their families, Guardsmen, and Reservists were eligible for free admission. The new policy, however, extends to include both Veterans and Gold Star families.
