Services represent the largest part of the economy of many countries, and the fastest growing part of their bu-siness for many multi-business companies. Also, a crucial role in modern economies is played by public services in order to improve the quality of life of citizens and the competitiveness of firms.

Today services have become an important element of firms’ value proposition to their customers, thus making the analysis of service provision crucial not only to servi-ce organizations but also to manufacturing firms. In spite of the large amount of research devoted to servi-ces, many issues still require attention and, because of the complex nature of services, call for an interdisciplinary focus. Pursuing research collaboration across disciplines may lead to the development of new insights, theories, and solutions related to complex service challenges and opportunities.

Research priorities include, but are not limited to, service innovation, service design and operations, service net-works and value chains, measuring and optimising ser-vice value to customers.

Against this backdrop, the conference aims at providing an arena for discussion based on multiple lenses, in the belief that the ability of our economies to achieve a further rise in value created passes through a deeper understan-ding of the growing role of services.
