At a recent congregational meet-ing, we unveiled initial floor plans and renderings for the proposed new building. It was exciting to envision new spaces for ministry and an attractive, fresh appear-ance to the front of our campus.
You can pick up paper copies of the Q&A handout along with the floor plans and renderings in the church lobby.
How do I submit my questions? There is a question box in the church lobby. You may e-mail questions at any time to [email protected]. Ques-tions and answers will be posted at shepherdlutheran.com/shepherdat50 each Thursday. The first installment of Q&A was on Thursday, Dec. 14.
When will we be able to hear from the architect and builder? Architect Bear Goolsby and contractor (builder) Kevin Krueger will be holding a Q&A session 1:30-3:00 Sunday, Jan. 28 in the gym. Please mark your calendar and plan to be here!
Every year during the month of December we collect a “Gifts for the King” Offering. During the weeks prior to Christmas, we are asked to anticipate the amount we intend to spend on gifts and entertaining during the holiday season. We’re encour-
aged to consider giving 10% of that amount to Gifts for the King. The Board of Elders and Deaconesses determine specific mission(s) who will receive these gifts (see below). Please direct your offering for “Gifts for the King” by placing in envelopes found in your offering envelope boxes marked “Christmas Eve Offering” and “Christmas Offering.” If you are unable to locate the envelopes, you may place your offering in one of the pew envelopes and write "Gifts for the King" right after “other”. Offerings not in envelopes to be used for "Gifts for the King" will be directed to the general operating fund. Gifts for the King for 2017 will be distributed as fol-lows: · SHLS Scholarship Fund — 50% · Mission Church in Del Rio, TX. & Acuna, MX — 30% · World Mission Fund — Local & International — 15% · LINC San Antonio — 5%

Thank you to everyone who supported the Military Ministry events on Dec. 10! More than $1,000 was raised to support Fisher House and CAMMO, a chili luncheon was served to Fisher House guests and their family members receiving medi-cal care, and 65 poinsettia plants were donated for the guests and for decorating the hospital rooms of their loved ones. Nearly 100 people were in attendance at the “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” concert, including many community members. In addition, more than 300 views have been logged on the concert’s Facebook feed. If you missed it, the video is available for view on Caroline Maria Melcher’s Facebook page.
