THE SHIELDKnights of Columbus Martin Council 6241

July & August 2017

Brother Knights,

Another fraternal year has ended with the new year starting on

July 1, 2017.

At the June meeting you elected our new slate of Officers for the

new year with me as Grand Knight. I plan to continue the excellent

traditions as established by our previous Grand Knights. Since the

meeting, Ed Ciancone has stepped up to accept the vacant Deputy

Grand Knights position. Thank him for his support.

This past fraternal year we enlisted 31 new Brothers giving us the

State Membership award. With your help along with our team of

officers we hope to continue this trend for the new year. Many of

these new Brothers have volunteered for many of our ongoing

activities. Our volunteers are the heart of our Council. They allow

us to continue to meet the many goals and projects we have

accepted. Many of our volunteers have also stepped up for the

vacant positions in our Sunday Bingo allowing us to continue this

needed program through the summer season.

A big thanks to all our wonderful Brothers who volunteer their

time, talent and treasures to meet the goals of our Council.

God Bless

James Pritchard,

Grand Knight

Summer is here, “hot”, you bet it is, but if you didn’t notice, you are living in South Florida, called

“paradise”. Our meetings might be done for awhile, but some of us have been busy with plans and

projects thru out the summer and next season, starting with our first meeting, October 11th. We hope

everyone is collecting articles/gift cards for a basket to be raffled off at our “Fashion Show” in 2018,

date TBA. If you know someone with a special hobby/interesting job with helpful hints that we may

enjoy having them speak at our meetings, please let me know. We will be having speakers at our

meetings, including some from the organizations we donate to: Habitat for Humanity, Children’s

Home Society, Safe Space, VA, Pregnancy Care Center, Castle, Boys & Girls Club of Salerno,

Helping People Succeed, House of Hope, Council on Aging. Birthday cards will be sent out on a

regular basis; please make sure you update your info. Happy Birthday to our July & August babies,

Joy Augieri, Rose Cavallo, Jo DeCarlo, Carole Jodoin, Dorothy Krysta, Patricia Larson, Rita Muller,

Gloria Rimali. Get Well wishes to Lucille Masser, Jean DiGiorgio, Catherine MacKenzie, Joan

Cannell. Pray for our Military, homeless, physically or mentally hurting, the less fortunate or abused,

pray for peace in the “upsidedown” world.

Smile, it’s contagious.

Your friend and President, Barbara

A very special birthday to our own JO DECARLO, celebrating “104” years on , August 22nd, she is

quite the lady, still attending the convention, occasionally attending our meetings. KEEP IT GOING

JO, we love you and you are always in our prayers, as are all our members who are also celebrating a

birthday.
